The Basics
Name: Hay-Lin Mae
Nicknames: Halie
Age: Twenty-six
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Former Actor/model. Now dance, and acting teacher at Hammel.
Powers: Vibration sight? She can see from the vibrations of the earth. She can only see shapes and outlines. She can’t see color, details on say paper, fabric, or the like on any object. She can see a bed, the separate sheets, but she would not be able to see the design of the sheets or the color.
When her power is on, she is usually seen tapping her foot, especially when no one is moving. Taping her foot sets off vibrations through the ground that sets off her power so she could ‘see’. How far she ‘sees’ depends on how strong the vibrations are, tapping her foot gets her to ‘see’ ten feet all around her.
She can’t use her power for more than about ten hours without a break before her eyes will start bleeding, if she keeps using her power her brain will slowly start to shut down from the strain. While she is using her powers she tends to get headaches.

General Appearance:
Hay-lin is more on the dainty side; she is 5’4 in height, and about 105 pounds. She has had a eating disorder before in her teens, and since then she has not been able to get her weight up, even though she does not have the problem anymore. As to say she is more bony, and fragile than she should be. She isn’t very strong, but it isn’t like she tries to get stronger. She has somewhat chubby cheeks, they aren’t that bad, but they aren’t thin either.
Hay-lin does have accented eyes, which comes from her Asian roots. As well as she has that naturally tanned skin; for the same reason as her eyes, of course. She has dark brown eyes, and chocolate brown hair; which is also because of her bloodline.
She keeps her hair pretty short. If you asked her why, she would say because it’s easier for her to deal with; and a lot of people say it looks better short. The longest she ever lets her hair grow is to her shoulders, no longer.
Personality:
Hay-lin is confident in herself, more than she ought to be. More than it makes a good trait. All her life people have told her she couldn’t amount too much thanks to her disability. She has learned to be more confident in herself because of that. It has come to a point where she is so confident in herself she comes off as arrogant, and conceited; and she knows it. However, she is okay with it, because she rather be arrogant, and conceited, and be where she is today than be insecure, and afraid living with her parents because of what others had said. She has had her fair share of struggles with being confident in herself; but she is proud of those struggles, because she has come out on top. And even now behind closed doors she struggles with her confidence. But not a day goes by that she doesn’t see how lucky she is.
Hay-lin is a very kind person, no matter how stuck-up she may seem. She has a kind heart, and one that kinder to kids/teens. She knows that a person’s kindness is a blessing, and has had this kind of blessing a lot throughout her life. If she didn’t return the favor to the world, than what kind of person would she be? She is very compassionate, especially to people younger than her, because they have less experience with the hardships of life, and feels for them, because she knows just how hard it can be. She feels that she needs to look out for others, and help them along the way of their life. It’s just one of the reasons why she believes she has gone through so much hardship; to help people to are going through, or will go through their own hardships in life.
When it comes to acting, Hay-lin is very good at it. She can act out anything, and has come to be very good at it, mostly through hard work and determination. With this in mind, she can be a very good liar; especially since she can’t actually look you in the eyes while doing so. When she does lie it’s for a very good reason, at least to her it’s a good reason; for the other person it might just come off as an excuse. Either way, she thinks up very good lies, and makes sure there wouldn’t be a way for her to get caught up in a lie. Of course she does have her moments, everyone does. This doesn’t mean she lies all the time, no, she likes being honest; though even then it’s a bit of a stretch. Cause she sugar coats the truth, unless she can’t actually do that.
Going with her being kind, she is also positive. However, just like her being overly confident, she is also overly positive. Which can be a fault for many reasons. Hay-lin always sees a bright side to everything, no matter what it is. Even in a horrible situation, Hay-lin can see the positive side to it. Now that’s good for situations like someone’s house burning down. But for a student getting into a fight, she would try to see the bright side of it, which would mean she wouldn’t give that certain student the punishment fit for the crime, or even no punishment at all.

History
Hay-lin was born in Seoul, South Korea. Her mother is a dance teacher, and her father is a businessman. Her parents met at Eisai gakkō; the Japanese meta school. They got into a relationship on the last year they both were going to be at Eisai. They both went to a college near each other back in Korea, it’s why they moved to Seoul. Both her parents are Korean, they had gone to Eisai because they were both mutants. They got married shortly after they finished college; they decided to stay in Seoul because they had become so used to the big city.
Hay-lin was born on January 20th, 1987. This girl was born blind, but of course, her parents didn’t know till later in her life. The doctors said she was healthy. Chin-ho, and Mi-lin were very proud of their new daughter, just like most parents were. Chin-ho, and Mi-lin were friends with another couple that had two children. Both Hay-lin’s parents were concerned about her when she wasn’t crawling at the average age she was suppose to. Friends said that she was just a ‘lazy baby’ and that she would be crawling soon. Her parents tried everything to try to get their daughter to start crawling; some of their methods helped while others did not. When it came to the visual aspects of trying to show Hay-lin how to crawl she didn’t respond to them. This was what made them wonder about their daughter and if she truly was a healthy baby. One day they took her to an ophthalmologist, the doctor said that she was completely blind. This crushed her parent’s hopes and dreams for their daughter. They wanted her to do great things, but didn’t think she could do them when blind.
Hay-lin never had any other problems, except the slow learning because of her blindness. At age, four was when she started to get into dancing, when she heard music she would always dance to it. This gave her mother hope that her daughter would become a dancer. It wasn’t till Hay-lin turned six that she actually became interested in dance. Her mother started to work with her on it, doing ballet. Her father had a problem with this, not thinking her mother should give Hay-lin false hope. Her parents argued about the certain topic quite often, and then the arguments started to become completely different topics.
Hay-lin was too young to understand anything; she just knew her parents had started fighting because of her, and that her father didn’t think she could do anything. Unfortunately, her father wasn’t the only one who thought this way. Her teachers didn’t think she could amount to much in life either; and little did she knew she was going to have a lot of people in her life who think that.
It was when she turned seven that her parents got a divorce. Her mother wanted to move out of the city to get away from Chin-ho. It was a bit of a stretch, but that hadn’t been the only reason. She wanted to get out of the city, and go back to living in a small rural town, so they moved back to her hometown, Gimje in North Jeolla Province, South Korea. Her mother started to teach private dance lessons to people of all ages in Gimje, while she also started homeschooling Hay-lin. Mi-lin thought it would be better on Hay-lin this way, and for a time it was. Hay-lin also got into an acting class, which one of the other mom’s in the city was doing. Two years later, at the age of nine, Hay-lin over heard her acting teacher talking about their being auditions for a voice actor where children were allowed to try out; because it was for a little children show. Hay-lin begged her mother if she could try out, for now she had a passion for acting, and dancing despite her disability. Her mother gave in and they went to the auditions, Hay-lin didn’t get the part however. She was crushed of course, and never really got over it because she thought it was because she was blind. A couple months later there was another audition but for another little kids show. They went, and Hay-lin tried out for this one; and this one she actually got the part. They moved to back to Seoul where the studio was at; her mother still taught dance lessons, but she got Hay-lin a tutor to teach her.
The show that Hay-lin auditioned for lasted three years. It was then that Hay-lin’s mother decided to move, yet again. She was afraid that Hay-lin would get her power; if she got it, and she didn’t want her daughter to go to Eisai because they were too strict. As you can tell, Hay-lin’s mother was very overprotective. Mi-lin did her research by asking friends about it, she decided to move to Vermont, where Hammel was located. It took both of them awhile to get used to living in a new country. It was also very hard on both of them, Mi-lin started her own dance studio in Pilot Ridge, and Hay-lin went back to public school. It would be an understatement to say that she was picked on, she was more bullied than anything else. A year later, Hay-lin’s power manifested, she was twelve. She was in her mom’s dance studio dance with the other ballet dancers. She could feel the slight vibrations in the earth and slowly started to see shapes and outlines, as well as her eyes turning blue. Mi-lin sent her to Hammel, when Hay-lin told her everything that had happened, because she had freaked out because she didn’t know what was happening.
At Hammel, her life seemed to have gotten a little better, she was happier at least. With her power, she learned to control it, and because of it she had gotten more into dance, and acting. She joined the dance club and well as the drama club. A few years later after enrolling, she started dating a certain guy; after a few months he broke it off with her. This made her more insecure; she thought it was because she wasn’t pretty enough. She heard enough girl talk about her losing weight from binge eating; so she decided to also do it, because she also heard that guys liked skinny girls. This gotten worse and she soon developed an eating disorder. Her best friend found out, and made her see the school’s therapist.
Years later, she graduated Hammel, she was able to overcome her eating disorder, and gained a lot more confidence. She went to audition for a roll in a tv drama. She didn’t get into the first audition she tried out for, which was in America. However, her mother told her there were auditions in South Korea. So, she went to audition there, it took her awhile before she was able to a get apart, but she finally landed a roll in a movie. Her passion for acting never let her back down from auditioning as much as she could. After the movie, she stared in a tv drama. In breaks between filming she went to college to get a teaching degree. She figured if one day in the future she wanted to teach, it would be a wise idea to get a degree now.
After years of acting, one of the movies she had done, she worked with teenagers. This movie was what inspired her to become an actual teacher. She loved the feeling of working with the teenagers, teaching them some things, showing them tips, and teaching them dance moves. It was then that she decided she was going to become a teacher. It was just recently; at twenty-six, she moved back to Pilot Ridge, Vermont, in order to teach acting and dance at Hammel. She just hopes she can be a good enough teacher.
