The Basics
Name: Milan Zavary Myles
Nicknames: Mi, Zavy, Myles
Age: 23
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Recruiter
Powers: Shadow-walking
Milan has the ability to teleport through shadows. Basically he can just step into a shadow and walk out again at another place. The advantage of this is that there are shadows everywhere, so he can easily save himself out of sticky situations. At night, however, this is more difficult for it is more difficult to find shadows. While he can step into whichever shadow he pleases, he has to have seen the place where he wants to go before he actually can. Do pictures work? If he focuses enough, but he would only use this in the benefit of his job, given the somatic consequences are more severe and a picture is anything but easy. After all, shadows will never be at the same places. It depends on where the sun is at. Or, as an example, if a car was on a picture, it could be gone by now, meaning he would get disorientated in the Shadow Realm. He can’t take anyone with him either and he has to be careful to not randomly stumble into one.
The physical consequences include migraine, painful eyes, disorientation and, when a lot of attention is required, he might even suffer from a temporary memory loss. Cranky behavior is known, too.

General Appearance:
Milan is a tall, well-build man. It’s quite difficult to find some fat on his body and he does have enough muscles to get himself out of danger (if he were to use physical violence), yet he does not show it off. He has rather short hair, so it’s never a mess except during the morning. He does say he loves his bed hair though, if only because it makes girls feel better about their own hair when they wake up next to him. He has a stubbly beard and mustache, but it doesn’t make him look like an old creeper.
Usually he’s found with a smile upon his face, yet he can also apply a more serious expression. This happens whenever he is on the job, recruiting children. Towards the kids, however, he will make sure he comes across as friendly and caring, while he will put up a more professional front towards the parents. When at the job, he always wears a suit. He can also often be spotted with a black coat – it helps him to blend in with the shadows, to make it less obvious that he’s about the appear in one when stepping out of the Shadow Realm.
When it comes to his daily dressing style, Milan tends to keep up with the newest fashion. It’s quite rare to find him in a simple sweatpants and random shirt. He tends to combine his outfit and loves zip-up hoodies and button-up shirts. Whenever he does wear spare time clothes though, it will still be of a decent quality.
Personality:
First of all, Milan has a high tolerance. It’s quite difficult to get him angry. In fact, to let you in on a secret, he doesn’t like to get mad. He won’t pick a fight to let off the steam. He doesn’t get the appeal of violence, so he tends to stray away from it. He keeps his cool and tries to handle things on a mature way. Not to say that it works every single time, but even if someone were to raise his or her voice at him, he would much rather resort to ignoring the other and keeping his mouth shut than to go physical. It has never happened before, yet there is a huge chance that he will dismiss this trait if someone were to harm those who mean something to him. Only time will tell, given no one has ever crossed that limit before.
He is charming and has enough confidence when it comes to developing social contacts. If someone catches his eyes (a girl that is) he will use his head and think before acting. He won’t just approach and start to babble about god knows what. He puts thoughts in his words and actions… unless the girl is worth him possibly making a fool out of himself. He’s an intelligent young man who takes the responsibilities required and he won’t pretend his nose is bleeding. He’s fair and treats people the way they deserve to be treated. He’ll speak his mind and if you don’t like it, tough luck. He stands by his opinions and standard and will only change them around if there’s proof they are incorrect.
Despite him possibly looking tough, he’s light-hearted. He can get sentimental, but will try to suppress it until alone. He’s rather seen as the cheerful guy instead of a cry baby. But don’t let that mislead you. He can snap at people and can react hostile, if only verbal. There is a temper underneath his smile and it won’t hesitate to come out when necessary. Every now and then his ego will spike, too, but only when flattered enough. Otherwise he’s modest. He knows he has to work to get what he wants.
Other than that, and despite him being an optimist, Milan is guarded. It might take a certain amount of time for the ice to crack and for him to put down the cold wall when someone new is met. Sometimes him being so serious could scare people away who possibly could have been made into friends. Same goes for his persistence. He can get as moody as a little kid and mock to no end when he does not get what he wants. It’s an immature trait and it might take some effort to get him to smile again afterwards, or not – depending on who’s trying. He just can’t accept failure and therefore can take drastic decisions, simply to reach a specific goal either way, with possible negative consequences, depending on the decisions made during this impulsiveness. This also often leads to him taking too many responsibilities.

History
Milan was born into quite a wealthy Irish family that moved to the US when he was two years old. He got everything with a golden spoon and hardly had to blink his eyes to be buried under presents. What he did miss, however, which could be blamed on his parents’ busy jobs, was their affection. They had met at lawyer school, ended up to be a couple, got married and started their own business. Of course a baby was more than welcome, but they had never been able to imagine how difficult it would be to combine this with their professional lives. A lot of babysitters passed the revue. And while they did provide him with attention and did help him with his problems, this didn’t take away that he felt lonely. He found it difficult to make friends, to fit in. He found comfort in eating, which led to him putting on extra weight. Most of this took place starting at the age of eleven. By the age of thirteen he was a chubby enough fella to be bullied by fellow students. The fact that he did not stand up for himself made him an even easier victim. Whenever he mentioned it to his parents, they just claimed that the others didn’t know better and that it was best to ignore. To no avail of course.
It made him distance himself even more, hiding in the dark corners to stay out of sight, to escape from the daily bully routine. They always knew to find him though. Until one day. It must have been a couple of weeks after his fourteenth birthday. Like usual, Milan made sure to arrive at school before others did, if only because that way he could avoid them waiting for him at the gate. He would find himself a place to hide until the bell rang and this time he had opted to duck behind a trashcan that stood in a corner. It didn’t take long for Milan to spot the three boys heading onto the courtyard. It made him crawl into a ball, closing his eyes since he rather did not see them approach. He could hear their footsteps and talking get louder though. Like usually, he kept wishing he could just disappear, vanish before they could bully him around. That’s when it happened. They did not see him! The leader of the group had tugged the trash can aside, only for all of them to heave a sigh of disappointment, mumbling that he must be hidden somewhere else. Milan, however, could see them! Nevertheless, he could tell he was located in some sort of dark hole. It startled him to no extent and he immediately crawled out of it… only to realize there was nothing but a wall and the trash can’s shadow behind him.
Milan didn’t tell anyone about this. They would declare him crazy or perhaps even that he was making it up to get his parents’ attention. Besides, it didn’t happen again in the couple of days following, so. What did happen, however, and it was out of the ordinary, was a stranger appearing on the doorsteps. He was shocked to find that this man knew about the incident and that he labeled it as a ‘power’. Milan didn’t fully understand, but he did not complain about the fact that he was going to be changing schools. Moving away was the less pleasant aspect of it, but he was used to living without his parents, so.
At Hammel he gained more confidence. He began to pay attention to what he ate and actually began to exercise, too. It worked out. People befriended him before he lost weight though, so that kept him motivated. After graduation, around the age of eighteen, Milan took a little under a year off to head back home. There he pondered about his future, uncertain about what to do with it. Being at home brought back a lot of memories though and a thought that he would never forget about was the fact that this recruiter changed his life for the better. That was when he decided that he wanted to make a difference, that becoming a recruiter could help him reach that goal. He applied, got accepted and five years later he still loves his job. He bought a house in Pilot Ridge, has the best dog ever and takes life day by day.
