SUBJECT: Ella Robbinson! - Settling In?
Amelia,
I'm sorry you haven't been able to make it in to the office for a chat. Email will have to do, I suppose.
My first few sessions with her have been productive. She's a talker. Don't worry, she'll warm to you eventually. There's a connection there, but it's one without a name.
Does that make sense?
I mean to say; she doesn't know what to call you. She doesn't know how to attach herself to you. She's convinced her life will "go back to normal" soon. But her mother's passing... Oh! Don't worry! She doesn't think you're replacing her. I only meant to say she registers that it happened. And she remembers being there for her father before he "left", as she says.
So, I've given young Ella an assignment. She feels a very strong connection to her father. I'd prefer to go into more detail on the subject when I next see you. But for now, I've asked her to write letters to him. She's given the first to me.
Again, we'll deconstruct it when you're here next.
Regards,
Dr. Angela Collins.
P.S: I see Ella's surname change has finally gone through. I'm glad it went off without a hitch. It can be a strangely difficult part of the adoption process.______________________________________________

Dad,
I'm not mad at you. I promise I'll forgive you.
Can you just come get me? It's been ages since I've seen you.
And. Ummm... This family. I don't really like them. Who are they?
Please come back. I really need you to.
Lovelovelove,

Dear parent,
We have some concerns with the advancement of your child. As such, we feel the need to write home and express our need to see you both as soon as possible.
Your child is not coping in their current environment. It is with this information at hand that I encourage you to seek professional help for your child. This may be a difficult thing to understand.
We'll explore the concept more in our meeting.
Regards,
A. J. James

SUBJECT: Ella "Robbinson". Again.
Hi again. Sorry to have to keep emailing you like this, but...
It's Ella, again. Since her appointments stopped she's seemed fine. Until last week. She started sitting on the driveway waiting for... Well, she says she's not waiting for anyone. But we all know what she's doing.
I really think she needs to see someone again. How soon can we can an appointment?

Dad.
First of all, you had to know I'd figure it out eventually.
You left me here! I'm not even related to these people, and you left me with them!
You're not coming for me. You better not. If you do I'll...
I don't know. I won't love you either way. Maybe that's enough. But it's probably not, considering you left me in the first place.
I bet you don't even have a place for me anymore.
I bet you never looked back.

SUBJECT: Do NOT Panic!
Amelia, please!
This is a difficult thing for everyone to comprehend unless they understand it. I know how it looks. I know. But she didn't do what you think she did. Are you paying attention to this?
She didn't do what you think she did.
I've spent all day with her in the hospital. I've had an extensive conversation with the doctors and a man named Thomas Robbins.
Just come to the hospital. With the doctor's help, he and I will explain everything to you.
It really was an accident, Amelia. Don't be angry with her.

Mrs Robbinson,
I was very glad to hear from you! Your questions were rather extensive, but I'll see how I go!
1) I'm well, thank you for asking!
2) Ella's first year has been a positive one. She's settled in well, she's got a lot of decent friends. She's really shining. It's surprising, given how borderline depressed she seemed when I first met you both.
3) Yes, Ella and I have stayed in contact as per your request. But it wasn't difficult; she seemed to want to. I don't think she knows I'm keeping such a close eye on her. We're more like... Friends. She confides in me from time to time. It's humbling. I mean really, once she broke out of her shell you'd never guess she went through all that stuff when she was younger.
I'll keep you posted. But I don't think she needs further counseling either way.
Cheers,
T. Robbins

So... You did leave me with something.
Everett is your name.
I'm old enough to know now. They practically handed off the original birth certificate like a birthday present. I don't even know how to feel about it. I don't even know if I care anymore. But... I'm old enough to find you.
I'm not going to try to find you.
Everett is your name.
Well, it's ours.
Ella.
PS: It's a boys name, dad. So thanks for that.______________________________________________

SUBJECT: So Hey, It's Me!
Hey,
I'm writing this because it's easier than doing it over the phone.
First off, don't be mad. But now that I've graduated... I'm staying in Pilot Ridge. I know I was pissed about being held back for so long, but I get it now. So... Yeah. I'm applying for a ton of jobs, but I still don't know what I want to do. We'll see what happens. Maybe I'll just wait tables forever and ever? To pass the time I started going through a bunch of stuff you sent up. Letters, scribbles... A lot of stuff.
Listen... Was I really as bad as all this says I was?
Why did you even bother for so long? Why didn't you just leave. Why'd you try so hard?
Sorry, I just... I had no idea.

I mean it.
And I meant what I said. I'm not going to look for you.Not anymore.
