The Basics
Name: Maebelle Fleur Davis
Nicknames: Mae
Age: 23
Orientation: heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Hammel gardener
Powers: Plant manipulation and empathy
Maebelle can shape and manipulate plants. She can make them grow, move/attack. Other than that, the young woman can communicate with them. Hear their stories and their needs. She often, however, needs water and soil to aid the progress made and to strengthen the outcome of her ability.
Limitations would be:
- she can not create plants; only manipulate already existing ones
- powerless in areas without plants or where there is no potential for them to grow
- high levels of radiation may cause defects in her ability
- can not control all plants: no fruits and woods. Works best for flowers and vine-like plants. Fungus is no plant.
- limitation of length of control: she has never used plants to attack, but she figures it will only last for as long as her focus lasts. As for taking care of plants, Mae has experienced that a daily checkup is occured to maintain the effect of her power. Otherwise nature will take over.
- susceptible to lightening strikes
- plants can have their own will and it can backfire
- headaches
- if the plant being controlled ends up damaged, Mae will experience that

General Appearance: Mae tends to care a lot about her appearance. Not only is she fond of keeping track of the latest fashion, she does try to dress herself according to it. There is no preference to a certain piece of clothing. Dresses and pants; it all works for her. What she isn’t a big fan of is putting her hair together. Maebelle prefers it to be let loose, but that doesn’t exactly work out with her job as a gardener. She also hates the outfit that comes with it, but yeah… better than messing up her own clothes. You’ll hardly ever catch her without any makeup, if only because she can’t see her natural beauty. As for length, she’s a couple of incher than most women her age, but it isn’t as if she towers out above men (at least not in most cases). Her curves easily give away her gender, and while Mae does not do so too often, she does dare to use them in her own advantage.
Personality:Mae tends to be quite a loner. She used to be fond of being around others, but the continuous lack of affection and love from her parents led to her turning away from most social contacts. It still has an effect on her life so many years later. Every once in a while, however, she does appreciate a good conversation, yet she has set a certain limit to that because she’s afraid to grow too attached too fast. She does not want to dependent on someone else. She’s a sweet person though and is better at listening than engaging in the conversation herself.
She is a compulsive liar. Quite often, that is. Mae struggles to accept the life she’s leading and tries to portray it more beautifully than it actually is. This fuels her fear that she will end up like her mother. It’s just that she doesn’t believe that anyone can like her for who she really is. In her opinion that fact was proven in the past. Despite her more quiet demeanor, Maebelle is not fond of being pushed around or to be told what to do. It makes her feel submissive and she hates that others can control any aspect of her life. During those moments, Mae has the tendency of being stubborn, but at the same time she’ll try to swallow her pride in order to avoid harsh words being aimed at her.

History
Maebelle’s past is not one she likes to talk about. In fact, she will avoid it at all costs and possibly even develop lies to keep the truth hidden from others. In turn she has moments of being a compulsive liar, and she blames all of that on her parents for they lacked to give her what a child needs the most: love. The absence of a decent amount of affection and attention didn’t really dawn upon her as a child. Sure, it was obvious that her family life was different than others, but it never really bothered her because she lacked the insight of how much she was missing out on. Mae took it for granted to come home and to practically fend for herself while her father lived at the bar, hardly ever home, and her mother too busy bragging about the wealth that they didn’t have, only to end up in better circles. It does not need to be said that it never worked out.
As Maebelle grew older, she did open her eyes and acknowledged the emptiness within herself. Not only that, but it also seemed to be difficult to make friends. After all, who wanted to be friends with the daughter of a drunk and a compulsive liar. It was during that period that the girl turned to herself, to animals and even to plants for company. At first all of that seemed as normal as that could be, but then delusion seemed to strike. Mae began talking to plants and ‘healed them’, ‘took care of them’, made them move and whatnot. The need to have something to love must have gotten the upper hand, or so one might figure. Her parents, of course, blamed it on each other that their daughter was crazy. That it must be coming from the other side of the family. And when a person from the Hammel Institute appeared at their house to talk to the girl, aged 13, her mother automatically assumed that her husband must have called the nuthouse. Part of her did not approve of this, but at the same time it would be for the better. How could she make friends if her daughter required even more attention and would probably be the gossip of the town?
The recruiter had her tag along and that was ten years ago. Mae graduated at the age of 18 and then headed back to her hometown. Not to visit the parents though. Instead she moved in with her grandparents and tried to build up somewhat of a life. Amazingly enough Maebelle succeeded at this. But most of it was based on lies. The young woman met someone, ended up in a relationship, but the more invested they both became, the more worse all of it made her feel. In an attempt to solve it all, she opted to leave again – the only way she knew how to deal with such strong emotions. So Mae booked her trip, one way, to Vermont. What she did not anticipate was that her grandparents, who knew what happiness their granddaughter was leaving behind, informed her boyfriend about this. In turn he rushed to the airport where he proposed just when there had been given permission to board the plane. Of course Mae was left speechless, but not in a good way. She pretty much spun around without a word (and a pitiful look on her face) before getting on that plane, leaving behind everything that had been precious to her. She left behind almost five years of her life.
Back in Vermont the girl applied as gardener for Hammel. Not exactly her dream job, but better than nothing when you have to tie the ends together. And that’s where she finds herself today.
