--Close-up of Oriel’s torso shifting back and forth as he tries to get the camera to balance. Oriel ducks down and glares into the camera. He bares his teeth and inspects them for food granules, then runs his tongue over the surprisingly white and straight rows. Then he backs away and tries to position the chair to a height where the camera catches his torso without cutting off the top of his head. He clears his throat. Then again. He seems to be having trouble with how to start. He licks his lips, the focuses back to the camera.

“I, uh….fucking weird to be talking to a fucking camera, you know? I mean, there ain’t nothing there!”

--He gestures widely towards the camera.

“So…obviously I feel like I’m actually talking to a fucking wall. And then…the fuck happens if somebody decides to go nosing ‘round in my phone ’n ends up seeing this shit.”

--He looks down, a nervous smile on his face.

“Yeah…that’d…that’d be fucking embarrassing…might have to kill ‘em, you know? For stumbling ‘pon confidential information. Like, shit of the highest clearance level, you know? …Maybe I should just get a fucking safety deposit box and lock this shit in there? But then…I wouldn’t have my phone no more. And I need that shit. For uh….you know…so I can send dick pics to my Squish.”

--Oriel smirks at the thought. He spaces out, as if to remember something, then chuckles to himself. His face slowly relaxed into something more somber.

“This whole fucking idea was…I never would’ve tried it if it weren’t for that Rue fucker. Rue…how the fuck do you even spell that? Anyway, it’s just this fucker who’s been lurking ‘round the drama class ’n helping out Miss Mae.”

--Oriel shrugs

“He’s actually an alright guy. Ain’t sure what it is ‘bout him…maybe ‘cause he actually listens…calls you out on your shit…I don’t know…but…fuck. He’s, uh…”

--He takes a few breaths before continuing

“He’s…he’s Phoenix’s ex. So, I don’t know, I feel like I ain’t ‘llowed to like him. Like, I’m obligated to hate ‘im just ‘cause of what he did to Phoenix. And…I do, yeah, for that, but…I’d be a lot easier if I didn’t decide I liked him before I found out I’s s’poosed to hate ‘im….It’s just…I don’t know.”

--Oriel hangs his hand against the back of his neck, his fingernails picking at some blemish back there

“It’s ‘cause of him I started getting into this whole volunteer shit. I’m just so fucking bored, I’d do anything, but…it wasn’t a bad idea, really. Gives me something to do…the organizers ain’t such bad people either, they’re really, uh….dedicated…to what they do. I, uh…I never knew how much work went into this shit…I don’t know, makes me feel guilty for being so pissed at them back when I’s….”

--He blinks, long and slow, as if reflecting over days long past

“I’mma keep doing it, I think. For now. Just fucking sucks that I don’t get paid for none of it, so…I don’t know, maybe I can ask one of the organizers if they’d put in a good word for me somewhere, sometime soon. Think I might finally give having a job a good chance…don’t matter what it is or if I think I’m suited to it, I just need fucking something. Don’t mean I ain’t going to start where I want most, but I guess I gotta…I don’t know…stop being so fucking picky?”

--He takes another deep breath

“He said…that guy, Rue…said that sometimes getting your shit down on paper helps you sort ‘em out. I ain’t so good at writing, so was thinking maybe doing the video thing. Fucker came out with the same suggestion. So that’s…that’s what this is.”

--He gestures to the camera again

“I don’t know if it did any good or not. Or if it’s going to. Guess I’ll just have to…wait ’n see. Anyway, that’s all I got now. Ciao!”

--Oriel salutes the camera with two fingers, then leans in to fumble with it. The screen goes black soon after.
