The BasicsName: Terrence Mathews
Nicknames: He's never been given a nickname.
Age: 25
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Librarian
Powers: Summoning: Has the ability to bring items to his presence. Could do this with many different objects, but can't summon anything heavier than a heavy book (2 kg or so). The heavier the object is or the more often he does it in succession, the more likely he is to develop a headache. He is able to send the object back too, or away a few metres from himself. His ability has also made him very picky when it comes to things being in order; he will spend numerous hours correcting and organizing to make sure that everything is perfect. To summon an object, Terrence must know what it looks like and has to be looking in the direction he knows it will be coming from, similarly to when he is replacing the item or putting it somewhere else.
Play By: Charlie McDonnellThe DetailsHair Color: Dark Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Any Piercings? Nope.
Any Tattoos? Not in the slightest.
Any Scars? Except for the minor paper cut every so often, he doesn't get out enough to cause himself any harm.
General Appearance: Terrence Mathews has an awkwardly tell height of 6'2", making him tower slightly over friends and colleagues. He's quite thin, but not exactly well built as he doesn't have the stamina to go to the gym. He owns a head of dark blonde hair which looks scruffy, but he combs it regularly in an attempt to keep it in order. He has a mole on his right cheek, which is practically in line with his average-sized, angular nose. He owns a pair of slightly thin lips that curve into an adorable smile when he is content. His posture is slightly hunched and awkward, a visual representation of his social personality.
His style is very smart, almost always wearing dress shoes and a shirt. He finds that the clothes are comfortable and look good, so he sees no reason to wear anything shabby looking for the sake of comfort. However, if he's relaxing at home by himself, you'll usually catch him in his pajamas, or a t-shirt and track bottoms. He may enjoy being organized and on time, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't enjoy lazing about in some baggy clothing and scrolling through Twitter every now and again.
Personality: Introverted by nature, Terrence is not a huge fan of socialization, unless its with a small group of friends and not a large group of work colleagues. If he's comfortable with you, he might act a bit random sometimes, but not obviously. He'll just make funny facial expressions or say something that could be interpreted as a bit odd, but it's usually quite amusing for anyone nearby. If he becomes unsettled or uncomfortable by any situation, Terrence will simply leave. He wouldn't be able to take the embarrassment. If the man gets too nervous, it sends his ability into overdrive and will cause him to summon many random, small objects over to himself. He can't help it.
If you enjoy having educational arguments or speaking to someone who owns strong viewpoints, Terrence is your guy! Once you get him rambling about something, he'll go on for days! Although he is self conscious. If he believes that he is upsetting or annoying you, he will stop mid-conversation and either try to change the subject or he will pull out his phone to go on his mobile Kindle or a book to read to take him away from the situation. Reading is his main defence mechanism.Your VicesLikes: Terrence loves nothing more than the simple things in life; waking up in the morning to a strong cup of tea, (no milk, one sugar) as well as a good book to read and enjoy throughout the day. He enjoys all types of books, from science fiction to the classics, because each tells you a unique story and immerses you in a new, brilliant world. A lot of the time, he likes to be alone; he doesn't hate people in general, he just prefers to be in his own company, able to ponder on thoughts, ideas and his imagination. He likes classical music too, because similarly to books, each composition told a story, but you could decide what exactly it was. He also loves keeping things organised, in perfect order and perfect condition. If he finds even so much as a folded corner on one of his books, there'll be hell coming your way. Another book related love of his is getting new books, when you first crack that spine and can smell the printed pages... it's like heaven. He likes to sketch anything he can think of: characters out of books, strangers on the street, animals he's seen, anything wonderful and different that springs to mind. He's quite a big fan of technology, with many little gadgets dotted around his house to aid him during the day. He enjoys going on Twitter and watching interesting videos on YouTube, but not that ones with people playing video games. They're too loud.
Dislikes: He hates loud noises: they are a distraction and are usually quite annoying. He hates ruffians who walk around looking like a trashcan; they could have a heart of gold, but they could at least use some of that gold to by some decent clothing. He hates the taste of hot chocolate... well, white or creamy chocolate in general actually. Really bitter chocolate was alright but not anything with less than 70% cocoa solids. He hated the rain because it could make any brilliant day damp, dreary and miserable. It only took a few raindrops to ruin his day. He hates being late or just on time, it makes him feel like a sloth. He'd prefer to feel like an eagle or a horse, so he tries to arrive at everything on time. He hates smoking and anyone who smokes. It demonstrates their terrible life choices and once Terrence has seen you smoking, he'll never look at you in the same way again. He hates going to the cinema: too many people and not enough appreiciation for the actual movie.
Strengths: Terrence has amazing organization skills and is very good at his ability. He is intellectual and has a developed vocabulary. He has a very good memory, meaning he is able to locate items simply by remembering what they are.
Weaknesses: Terrence is introverted and shy, and although introversion isn't a weakness, it is difficult to work around. His shyness has developed through his awkwardness, making it difficult for him to cope in social situations. He hates for anything to be messy and disorganized, but it's to the degree that means he'll drop any task at hand to organize.
Fears: He has glossophobia, meaning he won't speak publicly and avoids general conversation with large groups of people if he can. He's worried that his summoning is going to ruin his life, as it has mucked up things for him many times in the past.
Secret: Terrence has kept his stuffed bear, Geoff, since he was six and sleeps with him every night. He occasionally talks to him if he's upset or had a bad day.Family TiesFather: William Mathews, 64

Any Other Important People: His Cat, Felix, who lives with him in his apartment.HistoryTerrence was born 25 years ago on March 17th in Boston, Massachusetts. His life at home was a happy one; his older brother cared for him, and his parents were loving and kind. However, as he grew up, school added a whole new dimension to his life. He was bullied, as he was seen as an easy target, unable to defend himself. He cried after school almost everyday and struggled with minor depression as a result. His parents tried to help, by contacting the school and reporting the accounts of bullying, and they said they would try their best to resolve the problem, but day in, day out, Terrence was still bullied. They tried counselling but that didn't do much for him either, it just reminded him of it and made him feel worse. So, his parents did the only thing that they thought would work which wasn't putting him on any medication: they moved house.
They moved to the neighboring state of New Hampshire, to Manchester. But once he got to his new school, Terrence was afraid to speak. He didn't want to say the wrong thing, so he said nothing at all. The rest of the pupils left him alone. Some tried to befriend him, some tried to pick on him but he replied to both with disinterest. When all the other kids went out to play, he would go to the library. He had discovered books recently and the library felt like home to him, surrounded by all his storybook friends and the adventures they had been on. He continued his learning in silence and got amazing grades as a result.
When he was 14, he was asked to do a presentation in class, at the front. He got up there, with everything organized, prepared and ready, but he was hit with a huge amount of nervousness and fear. He tried to form words, but they wouldn't come out. He felt awful; he wanted to sink into a hole in the ground and die. But he heard a thud. He looked at his feet to see the books that had been in his bag were now there. He looked up at the rest of the class, and they had all seen it too, and they sat with their mouths wide open in amazement. He had been thinking of Harry Potter, who was amazing at speaking to people and rallying them on, and his face was now there, looking up at Terrence from the book. With a little more confidence, Terrence completed the presentation and sat down quickly. Was he gifted? He'd seen others taken away because of strange occurrences that had happened around them, was he going where they went?
The next day in class, there was a knock at the door. They asked for Terrence and he went outside with them. They told him that they were a recruiter from a school called the Hammel Institute, and he needed to go there to develop the ability he had demonstrated in class the day before. When he reached front reception, his parents were there with a few bags and two big smiles. They hugged him and told him that they loved him, and that he would be great.
A few hours later, he arrived at Pilot Ridge and the Hammel Institute. He trained there very similarly to how he had studied before, mostly in silence and with amazing results. He loved the Library there, it was a lot bigger than any other that he had been to. He would have quiet conversations with the librarian, who shared with him coffee and stories of wonder. He loved his time at that school, and wished he could stay forever, but all good things have to come to an end.
When he reached the age of 18, he graduated and left the school, returning to his parents in Manchester. He continued his education closer to home, and studied Librarianship, specializing in School Librarianship, because he loved going to the library and developing his knowledge of the world. He wasn't as interested in historical documents: the dates and places just didn't stick in his head. He was able to afford all of his tuition fees because of his parents' well paid jobs; his father was a marketing manager for a large coporation and his mother was a vetinarian. After gaining a master's in School Librarianship, along with the correct teaching credentials and a school librarian license, Terrence went on the search for a job.
He spent few months of searching in Manchester and then the rest of New Hampshire, supported by his parents, as he had no money, so they let him use theirs, and they taxied him around the state, because he was afraid to drive. However, everywhere he went, he never felt like he would fit in. His parents insisted that it would take time to fit in, but he knew that when he went to the right place, he would feel comfortable there right away. He expanded his search for jobs in the neighboring states. This was when he was reminded of the Hammel Institute. He called up and was informed that there was an open position for a Librarian. He applied and barely made it through the interview because of his social complications, but was overjoyed when he got a phone call telling him that he was successful in attaining the job. The school suggested that he moved to Pilot Ridge, which he did with fond farewells to his parents and a promise to visit them regularly. By using his parents' generous donation of money, he bought a little apartment that was only a few minutes' walk away from the school he was to work at.
He has been working there for a few months now, and although he's settled back into the place, he doesn't know many people, students or teachers, other than those who were there when he was, and he didn't exactly interact with them anyway. He doesn't mind though, he knows that he will gain acquaintances in due time. And even if he doesn't, he still has his books. And his cat, of course.
A few weeks after buying his new home, Terrence became rather lonely. He'd been used to living with people practically his whole life, so being alone was a new concept for him (in that way). He wanted company, but not the company of someone what could potentially annoy or distract him. He needed a pet. The next day, he went to the pet store and went over to the cats almost instantly. He didn't want a reptile, those were creepy, and a bird or a dog would be too loud. Fish were OK, but they weren't exactly good company, so a cat seemed like the best option. He observed every one of them for large amounts of time to see how they reacted to his presence and how they acted in general. He eventually found one that mewed at him a few times, walked around a bit and then came to a rest. He already loved him. He bought the cat, some bowls for food and water, a bed, a scratching post, a few other toys and a collar. He engraved that collar with the name "Felix", as it was a classic cat's name and the cat seemed to suit it. Felix is happy with his new home too, and loves to play with his owner from time to time, and curls himself up on Terrence's lap when he's reading. they have a sweet relationship.Roleplay ExampleTerrence fell abruptly out his dream that morning, thanks to his alarm clock. He rubbed his eyes and stopped the alarm. Stretching and yawning, he got up and went to the Bathroom.
Today was just an ordinary day for Terrence. He woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast and fed Felix, giving him a good scratch behind the ears like they always do in the pet food commercials on the TV. With a flask of delicious tea and a new book in hand, he went to a job that many would hate, but he enjoyed it more than anything in the world. He went through the front doors of the Hammel Institute and straight to his home in that school: the library.
He went in, walked past a few shelves and entered his office. He placed his items on his desk, then started his usual morning routine. He left the office and walked around all of the shelves, looking for obviously misplaced books or anything generally out of place. Every now and then, he would stop his gentle, relaxed walking pace to adjust something or swap some books around, but today, the library was in quite a good condition. Now, any other member of staff at this point would leave the room and go to the staff lounge to meet colleagues, share stories from the day before and laugh at the anecdotes, but Terrence was perfectly happy staying exactly where he was. He returned to his quaint little office and sat behind his perfectly arranged desk on his comfy, cushioned leather desk chair and all the tension left his body almost instantly. He went into one of his drawers and pulled out some headphones and an MP3 player, one of the many gadgets that he owned. After a few minutes of untangling wires and making a decision, he put his headphones over his ears which filled his head with the sounds of Vivaldi. He picked up the flask, took off the lid and poured himself a mug of the dark, hot liquid and picked up both that and his new book. He smiled to himself as he turned to Chapter 1.
This was pure heaven for him. Nothing could ruin it. Well, at least he hoped not. What About You?Name: Apple
