Rodrigo can extend his nails out and harden them, making them look like claws. Although more durable than human nails, they are still as strong as any claw, so there are surfaces he can't damage like hard metals and wood only gets slightly so clawed. Human skin is affected though, and that's one of the many downsides of his power. The skin around his nails is calloused and rough, as are the tips of his fingers. He's also covered in scars from accidental scratching. In their normal state, his nails still look very human, even if they usually look tough and dirty and the sides calloused. Every time his claws come out, it hurts him, the skin around them stretching and getting cut in the process. They also tend to break a lot, making him usually scratch some surfaces, such as trees and furniture to keep them from hurting.
Since his fingers are always in constant shifting and hurting, they've become very sensitive to strange touch and he has to be particularly careful in not hurting himself or having anyone touch him too roughly.
Despite his powers, he's not stronger nor faster than a regular human, so his inclination for looking for fights often leaves him hurt and in need of assistance, particularly if he messes with metas who are much better suited for physical confrontation.

General Appearance:
Rod is very tall, hitting the 1.95 meters, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He's very hairy for someone his age, his hair covering his legs and arms almost completely, and his chest is certainly getting there. He's quite fit, always loving staying active and practicing boxing in particular. He often looks ragged and unwashed, never actually bothering to take care of himself that way, leaving his shaggy and spotty beard go untouched for weeks before he gets bothered enough to shave. His most distinct feature are his eyebrows, big and bushy, falling over his clear eyes, usually glaring at those around him, looking annoyed.
His clothes are usually dirty and messy, way too big for him, and his pants fall slightly as he walks, not that he cares. His sneakers are often covered in mud, with the soles almost too old and broken to be comfortable. He just hates shopping and will use things until they are way too broken to be used. When he trains, he can be seen shirtless and in shorts, wearing his usual boxing outfit, the only time he actually cares what he's wearing.
The one thing he keeps trimmed is his hair, always caring for it, either if he wears it long or short. He also bothers with deodorant, and takes showers everyday... that's something, right?
Personality:
To talk about Rod's personality, you have to distinguish between the front he puts up and the real Rod. He's usually aggressive, passionate and unreasonable, scary even for some people who don't find it fun to have a guy snarl at them. He's the quiet loner guy who never talks to anybody, at least in appearance. Underneath this anger, he's not an actual bad person, nor he has particular malice against others. He's loyal to a fault and overly protective of those he loves, even if such attentions aren't welcomed. He's jealous, possessive and will often yell at those who mess with the people he loves, even attack them, letting his emotions take over as usual. But this is only the surface, that what others see when they don't get to know him and, frankly, few had so far.Despite his aggression, Rod can actually be very charming, sweet and tender even when calmed down. He'll be gentle with those he loves, though he can be rather clingy and a cuddle monster, whether they like it or not. He's also a bit of a sadist when he's into someone, wanting to see others uncomfortable and he'll push other people's buttons if he sees it as fun, especially those of people who, in his opinion, are way too serious and rational. He truly wants to see people act out on their emotions like he does, and figure out what makes people tick. But that's the best way to find out if he likes you. He'd tease and challenge his friends, but will usually leave alone those he doesn't care for. If he hates someone though, he'll lash out at them in fury, not minding using his fists to get his point across.Curiously, he's scared of forward women and gets uncomfortable if someone flirts with him. He has a weakness for small children and animals, liking to play and showing just how childish he is, getting excited over silly things and interested in the weird and unusual.While not particularly smart, he can be witty from time to time, being sarcastic when he gets annoyed or wants to annoy someone else, even going as far as lying to get a reaction. Despite this, he's often honest about his emotions, not really minding any consequence in his actions or words, and doing outright what he wants at every moment. Not that he's particularly eloquent with his words. In fact, more often than not he wouldn't even understand what he's feeling, let alone be able to name it, so he prefers to take action.Morally, one could say Rod isn't exactly the best person there is, yet he's not particularly evil. He will do everything and anything for those he loves, listening to their wishes and be easily persuaded to do what they want of him. He believes in doing whatever it takes to make those he loves happy, few as they are, no matter the consequences. Laws and rules are made to be broken after all and, even though he doesn't particularly seek trouble, he often finds it. This is particularly true when he gets involved in his brother's plans, since he's the muscle in most operations.He can be seen as irresponsible and careless, but this isn't entirely true since there are few things he actually cares about. His family being one of them. Fiercely loyal, he will do anything his brother tells him to, no matter the consequences, trusting him blindly and always looking out for him. That means he can get in a lot of trouble, always dealing with the wrong crowd and constantly messing up, particularly when it comes to school work. He hasn't done well at all in Hammel, particularly lately, and his grades often drop alarmingly low, but with some effort he'll get back to normal and graduate... hopefully.
Rod's one true love is boxing, and he can often be seen hitting sandbags and practicing his moves in Hammel's gym. He also likes working out in general, because it helps him control his anger. Same goes for smoking. Anything that keeps him calm will be good in his book.
Overall, Rob is a very emotional and passionate guy, always following his gut and his heart without thinking of logic or consequences. While he enjoys life to the fullest, letting his emotions take over, it's never wise to let logic slide and, of course, he's left to deal with the negative parts of his decisions.

History
Rafael Santos was born in Sinaloa, México as part of a very poor family. Luckily for him, he was taken in by a drug lord, looking for sellers and mules in America. Before long, a young Rafael was sent to America with a fake passport and a Visa. That's when he ended up in Miami, where he settled down his business with the local chicano gangs. He was the kind of man who always got what he wanted, a big show off with an even bigger ego. He felt like he had the world in his hands and that was how it looked to young Mariana too. She had only been nineteen when they met, living still with her mother in the neighbourhood Rafael worked in. A random meeting on the street, him finding out where she lived and the chasing began. He showered her with gifts, with displays of power and with the fear he inspired in others until she finally gave in.
She gave birth to Gabriel and soon after she was pregnant again. That's when things started to change. Business got slow and with that, the lord's influence in keeping Rafael and his family protected. Despite Mariana's urges to leave, Rafael refused. She was still pregnant with Rod when Rafael was caught. That's when things started to go down. All of Rafael's assets were taken, including their house, and Mariana was left with two very young children.
Mariana moved back with her mother, Micaela, finding a job in a nearby beauty salon and leaving her children, first Gaby, then Rodri, to their grandmother. Their abuela Micky, raised them, trying to be better for them than she had to Mariana. But despite her efforts, their neighbourhood was still full of bad influences.
The two brothers grew up close, being almost the same age. They quickly got involved with gangs and drug dealers, like their father had been, being known as 'Rafa's kids'. It was easy money for two kids, doing small favours for the remaining gangs and dealers. And they got caught too, once or twice. Sure, they were too young to understand what they were doing, or at least that's what their grandmother had told the policeman who caught them. Of course they knew, they just thought it easy and fun. It was exciting for two kids to be involved with the 'grown ups', looking up at the gangs and envying how easy it was for them to get anything they wanted.
When Gaby turned 13, he presented his power and soon after was sent to Hammel, much to Rod's dismay. For an entire year he missed his brother, cursing meta powers and cursing Hammel. It wasn't long before he presented his own powers. It'd been quite the surprise, both pleasant and terrifying when it happened. He'd just turned 13 himself, just like his brother had, when he woke up with his nails digging into his stomach. He hadn't known how it happened, screaming out for his abuela, moving his hand away and noticing the grown claws, with his fingers bloody from the wound, leaving a scar he has up to this day. He was hurried into the hospital and, a couple of days later, representatives of Hammel returned to his home and took him away. He still calls his abuela though, at least once a week. Those calls include short conversations with his mother from time to time too. Last he heard, she was dating someone.
So far, his stay in Hammel hasn't been great. He's gotten in trouble more times that he can count and he's not great with school work, often getting low grades and detention for fighting with others or smoking in places he shouldn't. He doesn't care much about that though. All he knows is that he has to be there for his brother, the rest is inconsequential.
