Name: Krystal Abigail Clarke
Nicknames: Krys or Krissie
Age: Sixteen
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student Powers:
The power she was blessed with is somewhat of a curse as well. Her power is that over ice, and she can freeze any water within a few feet of her. She is as cold as her ice, though depending on her emotions, she can be colder or slightly warmer at different times. Extreme, negative emotions will cause her body temperature to plummet. To counter this, extreme, positive emotions cause the temperature to rise slightly – but not enough to be considered “normal” temperature. However, this chilly body can’t stand extreme heats. She can’t go out on hot days or into very warm rooms, because it will physically hurt her, causing her to become ill. If it gets too hot, she can die.

The Details
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color:Light blue
Any Piercings? The lobes of her ears.
Any Tattoos? None.
Any Scars? None.
General Appearance:
She is approximately 5’2. At the very top is her head, covered with shoulder-length gold-blonde hair. It can be seen held up by a ribbon of any color usually, but sometimes she lets her hair down. Her eyes are powdery blue. Not just any shade of blue, but the shade of blue you can only see after a particularly bad snowstorm. They are situated on either side of a slim nose that slopes down ward. Beneath this nose are cherry lips. The lower is fuller than the upper, giving them a slightly more sensual appearance. Her ears are placed on either side of her head, the right one slightly more forward than the other – not like you would notice if she hadn’t told you. Her forehead is just a bit too big for her face, but it’s alright. Her cheeks usually have a light tinge of red to them, a pretty contrast against her pale complexion, which is caused because of her inability to go out during hot days, since her power doesn’t allow her.
Her chest isn’t huge, but it’s not small either. It’s a good sized bust for a teen, and so is her bottom. Her arms, when relaxed at her sides, let her hands hand just below her waist. Her fingers are long and slender, making her hands seem even larger. Her stomach is flat, but not as if she works out every day. She eats more healthy than nonhealthy, and it's not like she has a need to drive that much, so she ends up walking for the most part. Her legs are thirty inches, with her long feet at the end. Her toes are short, in contrast to her fingers.
She is one who doesn’t slouch, and is usually sitting pretty much straight up. The same goes for walking. Her shoulders are squared and her back is straight, her head usually held up high. She is proud of who she is, even if no one knows who she is. She can usually be found in clothes that allow her to move quickly. She usually wears comfortable clothes and running shoes - unless it’s a formal event of some kind.
Personality: Krystal can almost always be found with some sort of smile gracing my face. She loves laughing and joking, and loves hanging out with her friends. She is very peppy and hyper-like. She's also child-like, finding the simple things in life to be pleasurable as well as the more complicated and elaborate. She is extrememy loyal and courageous, and would never betray any of her friends. Krystal is the type of person who tries to carry the problems of others on her own shoulders, to try to ease another's burden a little. She doesn't like to see others hurt, especially those close to her, and because of that, she will try to make everything better for them, even if it gets worse for her. Most people won't let Krystal do that, especially after they realize what she's doing, but she'll continue anyway. Krystal would do anything for her friends, no matter the repercussions.
Her sunny disposition makes Krystal seem a little childish, but she's anything but. Sure, she’d love to be a child again, and loves to play and have fun. Still, she can be very serious when she must be, though she’d still have some of her wit and cheer even then. She can even be serious and responsible when she has to be, such as when she has to do school work or help out her classmates and friends. Krystal can lead just as well as follow, encouraging others to work together and get things done quickly so that they could go do something much more fun than an essay. However, just because she has to do serious things doesn’t mean Krystal has to change who she is. She can be happy on the strangest days or for the strangest reasons. For instance, even if her friends don’t like playing in the rain, she loves going out just so she can splash in the puddles. Krystal has been given more than one odd look for having a look of pure elation as she - and anyone within a few feet of her - becomes thoroughly soaked in her splashing fun.
She's normally a good natured person, being kind and happy. However, this changes when a person gets annoying or rude with her when she’s being nothing but polite. She’ll brood and won't speak to anyone who pissed her off, unless it was absolutely necessary. She doesn't like getting angry, but it is a human emotion, and she is human. She’s not able to hold a grudge for too terribly long, maybe a day or two, especially if it's with one of her friends. She'll try, refusing to talk to them unless they're apologizing, but Krystal will end up relenting in the end. She's just a big softie on the inside. However, she hates to apologize herself. She thinks it makes her look weak, and because of that, she feels weak - though Krystal will apologize if she has to. If it was her fault, she'll apologize, because how can she expect someone to apologize to her if she won't even render them the same courtesy?
Along with having fluctuating hormones and emotions like every other teen out there, Krystal has to be able to keep a tight rein on them. If she doesn’t, she might accidentally begin radiating a chilling cold, which can be discomforting to those around her. If she becomes extremely angry, upset, scared, or, on the rare occasion, jealous, her body temperature can plummet to any varying degree of cold – all of which the human body normally cannot withstand. However, on the flip side, if she becomes very happy, her body will warm up just a little bit, but not enough to become “normal”, which would be deadly to her.

History
Krystal was one of those kids that you never really noticed until you became her friend. Then, Krystal was always there, someone you could count on to have your back, even when everyone else let you down. Krystal always thought she'd have friends that'd love her for being herself, a family that'd help her up when she fell, and an older sister who'd never do any wrongs. What she'd give to go back to those days, to have such an imagination and hope for the future again. But alas, time moves onward, and so did she.
Here parents names are Teddy Dexter Clarke and Sapphire Makayla Clarke. They met over the internet, actually. They were trying a new internet dating site and got together. Of course, love can't be "I went out on one date and then we got married". For them, it wasn't either. They were young, fresh out of school, ready to begin living for the first time. Both had dated many people, only to be let down in the end of it all. They had begun to lose hope, but time and patience brought them together after all of their hardships.
Sapphire was a girl who'd always had the best in life. Her father, Krystal’s grandfather, may he rest in peace, had made quite a bit of money off of the stock market, and so they had always had money to use. Krystal’s grandmother was very strict with Sapphire, probably making up for how her father was gone all the time. They didn't approve of Sapphire’s choice, but she married him anyway. That was how much she loved him, she defied her parents, the ones who brought her to life, gave her all she wanted and more, for him. They didn't quite disown her, but they did stop contact for an amount of time, it was six or seven years before they decided that they couldn't ignore her forever. Theodore, on the other hand, was a wild child. He was the one who went to parties, drank, smoked, and picked on the nerdy kids for not being cool. He skipped school, passed through classes with seventies, and got into fights with anyone who challenged him. He usually won all these fights, because the one thing he actually took serious was his martial arts, Tai Chi. His parents were glad when he decided to move out and try out life for the first time; they hoped it'd be a wakeup call to bring him to reality. Instead, he married a rich girl who technically could have given him everything he could have ever needed. He learned how to be a family man, to work to get what he wanted and what he needed. He got a job as a banker and slowly - slowly - made his way up the ranks. He began to supply the family funds instead of his wife.
There's a small town in Ontario Canada called Shelburne. That is where our tale begins. It was a cloudy day in May, one that Krystal’s family never forgot. They brought a little girl into this world. None thought to think that her birthday was an omen, after all, she was born on Friday the 13th. Krystal wasn't their first child, no, she was born four years after their eldest, April. As a baby Krystal was loud, inquisitive, and moody when it came to everything else. There wasn't much to her baby life, not really. Her first word was "bottle" and her first steps took place a little more than a year after she was born. As a toddler, she was getting into everything. There's a cup on the table? Not anymore. She'd be underfoot in the kitchen, watching mommy cook dinner. They had a dog back then, a german shepard, who died when Krystal was nine. She’d follow him all over the house, and at one point tried to share his bed and food. Her mother put an end to that quickly, though not without a laugh. She got into mischief everywhere. There was many spilt glasses, colored on walls, lipstick smeared mirrors, and papers thrown around when the girl was unleashed on the family. Her mother and father patiently tried to teach her that this was wrong, and eventually she learned better.
Elementary school feels like a whole different world now, and sometimes Krystal wishes to go back. Her sister was in first grade when she was brought into Pre-K. Her favorite parts of class was Show-N-Tell, Recess, and the Alphabet. She’s always been a person for words, ever since she was a little kid. Krystal liked listening to what other people had that she didn't, and never was really jealous. Recess was like anyone else's recess. Tag, jumprope, hide-n-seek, followed by a couple bumped heads and scraped hands and knees. Everything was as it should be. Her parents loved her, and her sister was there when she wanted to cry over something stupid, like a favorite crayon breaking. The rest of Krystal’s grades were passed easily. She always liked English, and therefore she read anything she could get a hold of. Krystal passed every English and science quiz given to her, but occasionally she'd fail a history or math question. They weren't her subjects, and Krystal didn't try to pretend they were. Elementary was a happy time for her, when her friends were every single one of her classmates and everyone liked everyone else, no matter what they did. When it came time to have to move on, she was not too thrilled.
Middle school is when it all changed. When Krystal was in sixth grade, only eleven, and her sister April, who was a sophomore in high school, when disaster struck. April went out with some friends to see a movie. The theatre was a block away, and it was only just after dusk. After, she said she'd walk since they'd met up with friends and the car was full. They agreed readily, the rest of them piling into a single car. No one saw her again, alive at least. Her parents had been on edge after ten, when she'd promised she'd come home. Ten turned to eleven, eleven to midnight. Krystal’s mother called the police while her father went to the theatre armed with a photograph of her. The ticket sellers told him they last saw her walking away from the theatre. So, he drove slowly down the path she would have taken. He found her that night, on the side of the road. She'd been hit by a drunk driver, who never even stopped to see what he had hit. Sapphire cried for days – Krystal had never seen anyone cry so much before. By that time, Sapphire was relatively normal again, but she'd jump at any sudden sounds. She'd been given medications by doctors, having been unstable after her daughters’ untimely death. Then, a year later, her mother was caught doing illegal drugs by Theodore. He'd suspected for a time, but he didn't act until he'd actually caught her. When he took them away and burned them, she went into a fury that would have to be seen to be believed. She started demanding for her drugs, and he wouldn't even give her the medications from the doctors, because she'd been abusing them too. After about two days of with drawl, she started talking to "April", and was completely persistent that April was still alive and well and we were just lying, and to give her her drugs. Theodore had Sapphire placed into an asylum so that she could get the help that she needed.
This stress was horrible on Krystal. First to lose her mother, and then to lose her sister. This was the trigger on her body, which began to rapidly cool. Krystal didn't notice it, in fact, she didn't feel any different than she had before. However, her father, the first time he touched her, rushed her to the hospital, where they immediately hooked her up to all these machines and IV's, putting blankets around her to try to warm her and get her body back to normal. They all were completely astounded when her vitals were shown as normal while her body was low enough that it would kill after a long enough period of time. Krystal insisted that the blankets were removed, since they were making her feel ill, further confusing the doctors. They wrote a report and asked her to return again in a week so that they could examine her again. The results were the same a week later, and her temperature was the same as it had been before. It was around this time that the letter to the Hammel Institute arrived, and her father seized the chance to get his baby help. She was shipped off with her bird, which she'd received a few months after April's death, and clothing to an unknown school. Krystal, a twelve year old with some unexplainable body condition, arrived completely bewildered at the school, where she was welcomed in and explained to that she was a meta-human, and had a special ability that other humans did not. After a very short period of experimenting, it was determined that she had, obviously, an ice affinity and could manipulate it.
She came to find this place to be a second home. She did visit home occasionaly, when she had a firm enough hand on her power that she wouldn't suddenly freeze all the drinks in the room. This was a bit over a year into her training. She's been at Hammel Institute since then, and she's now sixteen, making it four long, happy years here at the institute. Well, they haven't all been happy, since with teenagers there will always be drama, but for the most part, they were a good four years.

Mornings. The sun was just barely hanging over the horizon, illuminating the sky, informing everyone that once again they must rise from their beds and do whatever it is that they do during the period of light. The sky was a light baby blue, with a few fat clouds floating lazily along. A light breeze caused some leaves to rattle lightly in the breeze and some ripples to form on the Black Lake. The air was still cool, but it was also quite deceptive. It was going to be much warmer as the day wore on.
Now, most people - well, most sane people - were still asleep, seeing how it was Saturday morning, but Krystal just couldn't seem to sleep. She was one of those who absolutely hates getting out of bed, and here she was, up and about early on a weekend - a weekend of all things! A sigh escaped the brunette's lips as she stretched her arms above her head. It had only been twenty minutes ago that she'd left the Gryffindor dormitory clad in a white shirt with a design of neon splatter paint across the front and blue jean kaprees, and now she was here in the shade of a tree next to the lake. She didn't even bring anything with her to entertain herself with. So, now the choice was to sit here and figure out something to do or to walk all the way back up to the Gryffindor dormitory to find a book or something. Her luck, she'd wake someone up and they'd be annoyed with her.
So, she'd remain at the lake. Krystal glanced around, wondering what to do instead. She had her wand in her back pocket, so if anything, she could practice her magic. Her eyes wandered to the sky, taking in the moving clouds. They didn't even have interesting shapes for her to try to figure out. They were just blobs of white fluff. The lake wasn't even worth considering - the giant squid wasn't anywhere in her vicinity, and the water just looked like dark soup in the morning light. She sighed again. Magic it was. Krystal slid her wand out of her back pocket, eyeing it speculatively. Now, what to do?
A sliver of movement caught her eye, and she looked up. A leaf had fallen free of the tree and was now free falling down towards the ground. Her wand lifted and pointed towards the leaf.
"Impedimenta!" The leaf, which was falling slowly already, was now moving even slower. She watched it creep closer to the ground, before uttering another spell.
"Incendio!" The snail-slow leaf erupted into flames. The flames quickly devoured the tiny leaf, disintegrating it into ash and winking out of existence. The girl glanced around, wondering if there was anything else she could cast a spell upon without doing damage to herself or the school, which would end up getting her into trouble. Her eyes fell upon another who was also up just as early as she was. She raised an eyebrow.
”Good morning.” She called.
