Lacing her arm through his when it was offered, Jalen couldn't shake the scowl on her face. "I seriously doubt that," she muttered bitterly, her eyes facing forward. She had always been like this when Z dated other women. What could she say, she had a soft spot for him. Anyone he dated she would be jealous of, it was just a fact of life. She thought maybe he would notice her at some point, but Jay had never thrown herself at him - not completely anyways. Boys just didn't notice subtle hints, and Jalen had given up on winning Zaer ages ago. This is why she didn't mind exploding her emotions all over him. She didn't think she had a chance anymore.
The blonde tried not to care as he bought the flowers right in front of her. Well why don't you just stab me in the heart right now? Jalen though to herself, glad for the glasses covering her eyes. Maybe it would be easier to have a different roommate... "They're beautiful," she said to him with a forced smile. They couldn't get to the eatery soon enough, in her opinion.
Walking in, it felt like the shop had just barely opened. Jalen was one to notice how the cream in the bowls on the tables were coated with small water droplets - fresh out the fridge. Even the ketchup had condensation on it. Sliding into the booth, Jay lifted her sunglasses and hated that she sat across from the boy. This was supposed to be fun, a good way to catch up. And now some girl had been brought into the mix. Maybe she shouldn't have brought up the whole topic to begin with...
Looking over the menu, Jalen looked up at the waitress as she came. She looked pretty peppy considering how early it was. "Can I get you two anything to drink?" She asked, pen poised over paper. "Biggest glass of orange juice you have," she said, her eyes momentarily glancing up at the girl before going back to the menu. The blonde would have a hard time trying to avoid eye contact with Z, but she was stubborn enough to pull it off. Suddenly a day spent with him felt out of place - shouldn't he be spending his time with this supposed girlfriend in his life?
