Craven dipped his finger into the pie mixture just as Maria turned away and plopped it in his mouth and before he could take it out, she’d turned around leaving him frozen with his finger still in his mouth eyes slightly widened, like a naughty child. Craven lowered his eyes and slowly removed his finger from his mouth letting his hands fall into his lap like he’d already been scolded.
”Master Craven...”
She huffed and he smirked watching her take the bowl away before holding out one of his books for him instead. He took the book with both hands and set it back down on the table eyeing her as she went back to making apple pie.
”It’s very good. Maria, I just miss your cooking. That’s all...”
Craven defended as the big Hispanic woman started to mix turkey stuffing in her big bowl. The compliment caused the elder woman to smile affectionately at the boy she helped raise.
”Si, Claro pero esperamos a los invitados, mi nino. Go find your brother. He’s not been down for his breakfast yet.”
Craven rolled his eyes and slipped got up reluctantly just as Henry, their butler entered.
”Maria, the first of the guests have arrived. Mister Grimley should be here in an hour or so. The h'orderves Maria…”
Craven dodged out the way of the bustling younger man and slipped through the Mansion toward the lounge where everyone would be getting together.
He hoped that the first of those guests was Adrianna and he also hoped he didn’t have to go pull Tanner off whatever game Craven was sure he was currently preoccupied with. Gia was somewhere as well, helping her mother no doubt. Maybe she’d be finished by now and would be in the lounge, helping Henry play host to all the invited guests.
Some of them came from a long way away and the guest rooms had been made up. Seattle wasn’t really close to many places in particular. He knew he’d invited a few families. Kaytee, Robbie’s, Dani’s, Thyme’s and of course, Adrianna’s. Romeo had been on his list too and he hoped that Romeo was intelligent enough to realize that Craven had withdrawn that invite completely. He’d have a heart attack if Romeo was in the lounge.
