Snow hadn't fallen much during the night but the cloud over Vermont and Pilot Ridge promised more to come and it seemed heavy now. Threatening and moody. There were patches of sunlight barely breaking through the cloud cover right then but the weather forcast had definitely said that the cold below 3 tempratures would bring down more snowflakes. Despite the wool scarf, one of Basil's since Edward had become fond of Basil's smell and entirely too fond of his lover's scarf to ever give it back to Basil, the thick bommer jacket and the leather black boots to keep him warm, the cold soaked right into his bones.
He was heading back toward the University campus despite Basil having offered to ring a taxi. They'd just finished a divine lunch together with some of Basil's special orange and cinnamon tea for desert as well as desert of another nature of course. It was four o'clock in the afternoon and Edward still had a paper to finish on the discovery of cancer and how research kept progressively getting better.
This meant that he would not see Basil tomorrow and it was Basil who'd actually insisted he do paper tomorrow and tonight so he'd have the afternoon to relax a bit. Edward smiled and kicked at the snow lain across the ground of the lake area. It was so tranquil, not a sound... Appart from his ear phones blaring out the ratpack. Suddenly he felt a snowball against his back, hitting him square in the middle of his spine and he froze then twisted round.
No one.... Edward slowly crouched down and pulled eyes into his leather glooved palm balling it before approaching whoever was hiding behind the trees and had decided a game of snowballs was an appropriate greeting.
