Dani couldn't decide whether her boyfriend was an awesome human being or a cheap bastard. She was in an overall bad mood, and he bounced in and suggested a spontaneous date. She couldn't say no to his face. In fact, she wondered at the fact that anyone could say no to his face. It was like stepping on an adorable dog.
The version of him she sees is not idealized at all, she swears. He's just perfect for her, so she sees that most of the time.
The cheap bastard part came in when she found out it was a trip to the arcade so he could play Mario Bros. She was given a few quarters to do whatever she liked, then left alone. She decided she needed to shoot something before she punched him, so she went for a zombie-shooter game. When she failed to get through the seventh round of Walkers, she slammed the plastic gun down angrily on the hanger.
Walking up behind Robbie, she stared at the screen. He was still playing the same game, and was looking determined to beat it. "Nice one, Sunshine." She half smiled at his seeming skill with the game.
It was when he demanded refreshments and told her that the money to get it was in is pocket that she got a little annoyed. She made sure to take all the money he had on him and keep half of it for herself. At first she meant to just get him a soda and nasty hot dog or something cheap that he'd likely hate. Then she saw the Icee machine and figured she'd get a couple of those.
When she got back and let him know that she had his demanded refreshments, she got a "Good, now feed me, woman." And that was the final bit that her temper needed before it could make the lovely snapping noise that was likely heard by clever ears the world around.
The red slushie would now find itself covering Robbie Wilkes's head, dripping down his shoulders and pooling on the floor.
