Toying With Emotions (Morgana)

Rayne had been working like crazy. Making up for the days she had missed while she was taking care of Cole. Now that he was mobile, cast coming off and able to do as he pleased, she was free to work and hangout more with friends. Unfortunately, her job was taking up most of her time. Being a waitress was pretty hectic. And on her days off, she usually spent with Cole. It wasn't that she wanted to neglect her friends (not that she had many as it was) but he had risked his life to save her and all he asked for in return was a little time with him. And she didn't mind it at all. Cuddling after work was always a good way to make her feel better.

Well today was an exception. Cole was off doing his own thing with one of his friends and she was making time for hers. Rayne had planned a shopping day for her and Morgana at the mall. It was girl's day out full of going crazy whether it be at Starbucks or window shopping. Rayne had some saved up money from work that she planned on spending, so she figured why not take someone with her to get an opinion?

She was running low on sleep from working the late shift the night before and she was a little irritated about something that had happened. One of the late-night customers was drinking his sorrows away and decided to get a little grabby. The bartender was a good friend of hers and kicked the guy out before Rayne stomped his ass. She hadn't told Cole about it because she didn't want him to worry, so she was hoping that her girl's day would cheer her up. She was bound and determined to have a good time.

Pulling into a nearby parking spot she waited just outside the mall for Morgana in order to start their fun-filled day. Or so she hoped it would be fun-filled.

Today would be fun. Morgana was sure of it. Not only would she get to go shopping, but she would get to hang out with Rayne. The girl had always seemed closed off and Morgana wanted to put an end to that. It always made her upset that there were people out there who were either emotionally cut off or people who just didn't know what social interaction meant. Then again, Rayne wasn't that bad. She just needed someone to talk to. And who better to talk to than an empath?

Contemplating on whether to take her car to the mall or just walk, Morgana decided on taking her car. This way she wouldn't have to carry all her bags back to the Institute and Rayne wouldn't have to feel obliged to offer her a ride. Morgana hated having to make people feel obliged to do things, which was why she always made sure that if any trouble arose, she would be the one who was affected by it. Morgana had been making sacrifices for her family since she was a child and making sacrifices for her friends was nothing new.

She arrived at the parking lot of the mall and noticed an open parking space besides Rayne's car. Morgana pulled into it and got out, smiling when she saw Rayne standing in front of the mall. That smile, though, became slightly smaller when she felt something from the girl. It was irritation, which was not good. "Is everything alright?" she asked, walking up to Rayne. "It's not Cole, is it?"

As she heard a car pulling in, she glanced back to see if it was Morgana. When she caught sight of the girl, she tried hard to match the smile, but it was stiff and clearly forced. She frowned and sighed, "Everything's fine." Her next question caught her of guard but she shook her head frantically, "Oh no, no, no. It's not him at all. It's this jerk that I had to deal with when I was working last night. Let's just say, being a waitress who's supposedly 'hot' sucks." Her expression turned grim as she thought back to the pervert who had just reached out and smacked her ass as she was passing by with other customers' drinks. What kind of a jerk did that?

Sighing again, Rayne shrugged, "It's no biggie thought. Nothing I'm not used to already. I couldn't tell Cole though, especially since he's so close to recovering and I don't want him to get hurt again because of me." She shook her head slightly, "I think I've caused him enough injuries." It was bad enough that he'd pushed her out of the way of a car and gotten hit, he didn't need to break his hand or screw up his wrist again because of some douche who'd had a little too much to drink.

"So how's life with you? Any guys catching your eye?" Rayne asked with a smirk. Last time they'd talked, Morgana hadn't had any guys, but it had been a while and she couldn't help but wonder. As long as it wasn't a total jerk, she would be happy with it. Morgana didn't deserve a jerk type, she was much too nice for that.

Morgana offered Rayne a sympathetic smile that smile turned into a frown when Rayne told her what had happened. "You're alright though, right? He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Morgana was quite worried and wanted Rayne to tell her that everything was fine. Being worried was not fun. Morgana nodded when Rayne said that she couldn't tell Cole. "I'd do the same thing. If I had a guy, that is. But Cole is really sweet and I'm sure that he'd be upset if you didn't tell him. You're lucky to have found someone like him"

A small smile formed on Morgana's face when Rayne asked her about any guys that she noticed. Ever since she had arrived in Vermont, not one guy had caught her attention. Sure, she had flirted with a few guys, but that hadn't meant anything. However, there was that one guy that had made Morgana wish she had met him earlier. "Um, well, there is this one guy. His name's Linden"

Rayne shrugged, "All he did was smack my ass because he thought it would make him cool. His friends all thought it was hilarious. Bunch of clueless low-lives." Her maroon hair whipped around as she shook her head in frustration. It was a pet-peeve of hers. Being in the waitress business, she should have known it would happen more than once, but every time it had the same affect on her. It thoroughly frustrated her.

Focusing back on the situation at hand, Rayne caught the small smile light Morgana's face. She knew right then that a guy had been spotted and maybe a double-date was in their future. The name didn't sound familiar, she'd definitely ask Cole about him though. "Linden huh? Is he like you?" She had to lower her voice because being the non-powered type, she still wasn't sure if talking about metas was okay in Vermont. Yes, she'd lived in the same place for over a decade, but she remembered once when she was younger a scary thing she'd witnessed in the slums aka her home. Metas didn't have it as easy as everyone else seemed to think. She only knew that because she was friends with a few.

"How old? What does he look like? I need details girl! It's officially a girl's day, talking about boys just makes it more official." Rayne cracked a smile that held less irritation and more of her chilled out personality.

Morgana rolled her eyes and sighed. "Why do guys think that by making a mockery out of women, they automatically become cool? If only I was there. He and his perverted friends wouldn't have been laughing." Morgana shook her head and let herself relax. All that mattered was that Rayne was alright. Otherwise...well, Morgana didn't want to think about that.

"He's not a meta. At least, I don't think he is. There's never any guarantee with something like that. If he isn't like me, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Not that I'm saying that Cole is a bad guy. Morgana smiled and was somewhat upset that Rayne had to lower her voice. It seemed that not everyone was ready to accept metas yet. There were times when she wondered if metas would ever truly be accepted. But there was no point in thinking about that now, not when she was with Rayne. This was supposed to be a girl's day, not a feel-bad-for-yourself-because-you're-a-meta day.

Morgana laughed when Rayne asked about all the details. "He's older than me, probably 21 or something. And he's hot. I mean, he's absolutely amazing. He's blond and he's Scottish, which only make him even hotter. If anything happens between me and Linden, we should definitely double date." She grinned and gestured towards the mall. "Ready to splurge on everything?
