Derek just woke up, and it was a Friday night. He actually tried to ditch school today, but despite the fact that the school’s staff was consumed by Telepath’s they’d know that he ditched. So he attended most of his classes. He slid on his usual blue jeans, and his white Air Jordans’. He was wearing his sleeping shirt, which was naughty and explicit, it had a naked girl and guy posing, one of his favorite character designs. But Derek didn’t care, if someone said something about it, he’d rather walk around Campus and catch a cold. Exiting his dorm room, Derek was playing his iPod. He was also holding his football in his left hand. It was quite obvious that he was going to play football with a couple of his friends, but he wasn’t really in the mood.

After playing two hours of football with his meta-human friends, Derek took his random jogs around the pond. Females spotted him, waved to him, and hugged him. But that was light weight, he was ready for a real beautiful girl, relationship worthy. That’s when he saw Therru Simmons. Holy shit crap, she was a hottie, and a shy one too. Derek got up, and walked towards her, and he smiled. He placed the football towards his side, whilst his leaking with sweat shirt placed against his abs. “What’s up, toots?” He asked her, having enough confidence.

Derek shifted his shirt so people would get better sight of his abs more, but he didn’t notice or care. He placed the football by the grass, and watched her movements. He looked towards the sky, and back towards is pants, his fly was un-zipped. He turned around, and pretended to yawn, that’s exactly when he pulled his fly up, and turned back around.

Once classes were over Therru went outside, as always. She had never understood how anyone could stay confined in that school, no mater how lovely it was. She just couldn't stand it! So, books and bag in hand she took her small slim self out to the tree by the koi pond. Most people knew it was sort of her claimed place, and left her be. Here she could practice her power, read, draw, watch others. Whatever filled her hearts desire.

So after spending a few hours just reading and enjoying the cool autumn sun something happened. Therru hadn't been paying attention much to the boys who were playing football. With how confusing her emotions had been lately she hadn't wanted to take a chance at anything. She just wasn't sure of that part of herself. But he didn't know that. The boy came over, all smiles and exuding charm. His shirt was clinging to him, showing a well defined body. She blushed slightly, keeping her head down and hiding behind her multihued brownish hair. She was just a girl in jeans, a tank and a flannel, as always. What made her so special then? She obviously couldn't see in herself what this boy saw in her.

" Hello." She replied rather quietly, sort of shocked by his upfront greeting. No one had ever called her toots before, and she wasn't sure if she should be taking that as a good thing or a bad thing. It wasn't regular, that was for sure. The sixteen year old looked up, green eyes wide. A slight, shy smile formed at the corner of her lips.

“Hello,” said her faint quiet, beautiful voice. Derek smiled from her reply, and sat beside her, under the shade of the tree. He looked around, subtly setting his arms and hands near hers. Derek tried not to make things awkward, despite the fact that he’s been crushing over her for a year. “I’m Derek, duplicator.” Derek stated, as if she cared.

He held onto the football, filled with nervousness. He clenched onto the football, with his fingernails digging deeply into the pigskin. “It’s hot outside huh? Even for Vermont!” Derek said, trying to start a conversation. Derek didn’t usually act like that, it was only around Therru, and she was the only girl that had a potential seriousness in relationships with. He’d figure that most of the girls at Hammel were “Hit it, and quit it.” but he could tell Therru was different, she was shy and beautiful.

The blushes on her face were beautiful, and so was her multihued hair. They’d have the perfect genetic match for a child, a nice family even. Exhaling slowly, Derek rested his head back against the tree, letting the red ants scatter away from his head and body. He suddenly placed his right hand into her lap, just to bring her muse up, and a better conversation. Derek acted as if he didn’t realize that he was doing such, but played off well. He suddenly bewildered his perfect white bright teeth towards her, whilst her head was down.

“So, Therru, what can you do?” Derek asked, already knowing her name. He knew she was a hyrdrokinetic, he knew she was a shy beaut.

He smiled when she spoke, which made her blush even more. To hide, she took a moment to close a the book she was holding. The pages rasped together faintly, and she tucked it away in her bag next to her. She fiddled with the strap for a moment as he said his name. Derek! That's who he was. Now she recognized him more so than she had a few moments ago. Derek was always around when she needed help, or so it seemed. Of course, she didn't think anything of it. In fact, she didn't even have any clue that he liked her. But then again Therru was a little bit thick when it came to those subjects. Once she was done messing with her bag she looked back at him, the embarrassment mostly gone from her face now to be replaced with the warm smile that she wore most of the time.

" It's quite nice to see you Derek." She replied. He made a comment about how warm it was, which she had noticed. For the fall season it was really quite warm. When she had lived in Canada it was usually cold by this time, with less rain and more snow. Of course, that was home and this was not.
" I had noticed that it has been unseasonably warm of late. Where I used to live it was already snowing by this time of the year. My father...well, we used to go rabbit hunting about this time." She didn't say anything about the fact that she had put her father in the past tense. In fact, that was something else she hadn't really been thinking about lately.

Therru actually took a moment to look at the young man from under her lashes, trying not to be too obvious about it. He had such a pretty face, with bright attentive eyes and a warm happy smile. His blondish hair was slightly messy, which she found quite attractive. And I don't even know what I've been thinking lately. How am I to deal with this when I'm not sure... She shook herself internally as the thoughts trailed off.

" Myself? I'm a hydrokinetic. Water manipulation." She said without really registering that she had heard the question. How many times had she done that before, only been half listening when she answered a question.

“It’s quite nice to see you Derek.” Therru kindly replied. Derek nearly clenched onto her leg, as if he were holding it for dare life. But that was just him getting nervous, as if he were about to have a big game and the scouts were there to watch him play. By the thought of that Derek got more nervous, so he started wiping the small beads of sweat that came dripping from the tip of his ruffled hair. “I had noticed that it has been unseasonably warm of late. Where I used to live was already snowing by this time of year. My father… well, we used to go rabbit hunting about this time.” She said, explaining her seasonish story. But Derek had no clue what she was saying; she spoke so proper, as if she was a part of Shakespeare.

She realized Derek’s question, and that’s when it came to an answer. “Myself? I’m a hydrokinetic. Water Manipulation.” Derek noticed, and that’s when he pulled his arms back, and that’s when he relieved his duplications. Only two of him came out about this time, so it happened. Why didn’t he use this playing football? Well, that was his lost cause, and that was for him to figure out later on. Dupe number one walked towards Therru, offering her a hand so they could stand up. Dupe number two stood there, giving her Derek’s calm and charming smile.

“That’s funny because, my father is an outdoorsman, and all he ever wanted my cousin and I to do was to hunt. But my cousin became a better hunter than me, well that’s his power.” Derek smiled, and chuckled by his comments. So he got up, waiting for Therru’s structure to follow him up, and his Dupe’s hand was still offering her to get up. “You’re a little too good looking for my taste, how ‘bout we go on a date later on today?” Derek asked, trying not to be blunt.

She was quite startled when suddenly there were three of Derek instead of one. He had said his power was duplication, but Therru had never seen it done before. She didn't know anyone with that particular power except him. One of the copies came closer to her, offering her a hand to help her up. She grabbed the strap of her bag and pulled it over her shoulder before accepting his help. The other copy just stood there smiling at her so nicely. It made her fidget slightly, because she wasn't used to attention like this. Therru had always been someone who just....well, stayed out from under the radar. She had always been the person who just said 'I'm not here' whenever she was in a room, which had always worked out well for her.

“That’s funny because, my father is an outdoorsman, and all he ever wanted my cousin and I to do was to hunt. But my cousin became a better hunter than me, well that’s his power.” She let her mouth open in a little 'oh' as he said this. It was really great that he had hunted. Maybe sometime she could talk about it, but not right now. It would be impolite to start talking about herself.

“You’re a little too good looking for my taste, how ‘bout we go on a date later on today?” Derek asked, and she blushed. He asked her on a date! Therru couldn't believe her ears, and looked away for just a moment to hide her shock and surprise. He really liked her that much? When she looked back there was a little light in her eyes and a faint smile on her lips. Her face was still slightly flushed, and she was actually nervous.

" I'd love to. " She replied to him quietly. Therru still couldn't believe it. A date. She was going to go on a date.

After Therru got up by the help of Derek's dupe's hand, she nodded and said the faint words of, "I'd love to." Derek immediately got excited, but he made sure that he didn’t show it physically. His dupes calmly depleted into their owner, Derek. Derek looked towards the falling leaves pound into the dense and now cold lake. Each fall of the leaves caused the lake to brittle into distant waves surrounding that one and only leave, which fascinated Derek.

"Pick you up at eight? I'll meet you at your dorm?" Derek calmly asked, right after he asked about the time he was going to pick her up. He kept a gist of a sly grin, and a raised eyebrow. Derek got ahead of himself, because of his dazzling looks and kind charm, he finally got a date, for the month. But Therru was serious; she wasn't that type of sleazy call-back type of person. Derek imagined them having two children, a boy and a girl, the girl with duplication like her father, and the son with hydrokinesis like his mother. He imagined Therru teaching him how to levitate water in a cup with ease.

After having an easy zone out day dream, Derek nodded to her before checking his phone. He was getting a call from his mother, the indoor kitchen woman. Derek was with Therru at the moment, so he calmly declined the call, and slid the cellular device into his pocket. "Pick something beautiful to wear, we're going somewhere romantic." Derek said after placing his hands onto her elbows, making the balance of the books easier for her.
