Of all the things the Raines' twins knew, they were currently only certain of two of them.
1. They were dying. Completely, undeniably, dying.
They had been throwing up for a solid.. longer than they cared to count. They'd felt a little sick on Thursday, and mostly tired and achey on Friday. With their mother in her third trimester, they didn't want to bring whatever it was home. Yesterday, they'd thrown up. They never got sick - really, never, unless they were apart. Their immune system was excellent, and here they were, both brought down by the basted flu.
2. They were outside, and it was kind of bright and they had no sense of temperature.
Neither twin was quite sure how they got there - they remembered being in their room, lights off, window closed, curtains closed, wrapped under about twelve blankets each with a wastebasket by both of their beds - in case they couldn't make it to the bathroom quickly enough. Then they remember laying on the linoleum floor outside of their room because they felt as if they were a million degrees, in boxers and undershirts, trying to cool off.
Somehow, they'd successfully put on pajama pants and t-shirts - Gabriel's was red plaid flannel pants, Uriel's were blue - but both in grey t-shirts. They got on house slippers, and grabbed the contents of their beds - lots of blankets. For some reason, they'd ended up outside with their backpacks, laying on the grass, under a few fuzzy blankets.
"Pocahontas should've married Kocoum.." Uriel mumbled, Gabriel glaring at him. "I hate you for getting me sick." Uriel's eyes widened.
"ME?! It was you! You got it.. first." He kind of trailed off, running out of energy quickly. Gabriel successfully wriggled to his belly, pulling a book from his backpack. Tomorrow was still Monday. They still had homework to do. "Health is just around the riverbend.." He mumbled, opening a book, Uriel chuckling, beginning to whistle 'Just Around the Riverbend.'
