FLU EVENT: So Hot - Ella Open Tag

[Ella Tate]

What clued her in of her illness was the sudden heat pressing on her like an iron. Her thick dark hair was suddenly much too thick and basically cutting her any form of ventilation to her neck. Her forehead glinted with the perspiration dotting it and her eyes were red from holding back sneezes.

She shouldn't be at school, she realised this now but there was no way she was leaving this quad for the life of her because every single movement she made had her swaying left to right.

Clutching on to sick bag, she took off her jacket, dropping it on the bench beside her. "God it's hot!" She whined, flapping her hand across her neck, trying to get some form of breeze going on. "Weather manipuators...turn the fucking sun off please thanks." She murmured under her breath as she took off the shirt she was wearing.

Thankfully for her sake, she was wearing a tank top underneath. Although given time, that would have been taken off as well. But for now, it was staying on.

She felt bile rise up in her throat and she briefly wondered why she even left home.

Robin was still doing the Nostalgia rounds at Hammel, and when those were not possible she was doing the memorize your new surroundings one. Things had changed since she had been in high school, but that was to be expected. These kids had tablets and iphones and not aol. The training fields had been updated of course, and Robin was familiarizing herself with them more. Given the nature of what she was able to do most of her time spent out here back in the day had generally been gym-oriented.

As a direct result of high levels of Nostalgia Robin had been feeling just plain happy of late. However, she knew that others on the campus were not. The Flu had struck Hammel. She had started sending students out of her class and back to their dorms if she found their symptoms bad enough. God bless them, they were dedicated enough to still try to come in when she could boil water for tea on their forehead.

As Robin looked around she saw that the students weren’t the only ones doing it. Some of the teachers and trainers were certainly looking the worse for wear. As she continued her stroll around the fields she noticed one such person. Robin herself rarely if ever got ill thanks to a freakishly excellent immune system, which had undoubtedly saved her from the flu.

Robin walked over towards the dark haired woman, digging through her bag as she did so. After a few minutes of sorting she found what she was looking for, a hair clip.

“Hey,” she said while still a few feet away. She closed the distance and offered the clip. “Here, you look a little overheated.” It sounded a lot better than take this you look sick.

Managing to keep her vomit at bay, Ella breathed in shallow breaths to keep herself well-oxygenated. As she was doing so, a vaguely familiar face came into vision with a hair clip in hand. Reaching one hand out, she grabbed the clip and bunched her hair up, securing everything with the offered accessory.

"Thanks." Ella nodded, which was the wrong thing to do since it only made her urge to spew her stomach contents even more. "Worst day ever. I need to go home." She whined, leaning against the wall and trying to breathe normally.

Robin looked on in some alarm, unsure what to do. She didn’t know her all that well and therefore didn’t know who to call for her. Robin checked her watch. She could cancel her classes today and she wouldn’t be all too missed. They had just barely started working on the material so there would really be no loss. Robin’s other hesitation had more to do with the face that the other woman was making. To put it bluntly, she looked like she was going to hurl. Robin certainly didn’t want that all over the inside of her car.

“Yes, you don’t look that well.” Her brow furrowed. She was probably the only person who was going to manage not to catch this so she should be as useful as possible. “You try to hold all of that in and I’ll bring you home, how does that sound?” She motioned over towards the parking lots. “My car is right over that way. We’ll see if we can get you to look a little less like you are going to melt,” she added lightly.

Robin stuck a hand back into her bag, this time searching for her car keys. She found the mess of rings and keys and located the one for the Camry.

When the other brunette stated the obvious, it took all of Ella's restraint not to yell out another obvious. But she did look up to the woman and glared at her a little bit. She was surprised she even had restraint, considering her bowels were not being polite at the moment.

"I don't wanna go home." Ella whined. "I want painkillers that could knock out a herd of elephants and go to sleep in a hot tub. I don't have a hot tub at home. So I don't wanna go home." Ella reasoned with the woman.

"Or...or you could find Chloe. Chloe knows what to do. She always knows." The power suppressor bounced down to the ground and took deep breaths. "She responds to bird calls if you can do them." Ella added, like it was the most important thing.

Robin looked at Ella with somewhat of a slack jaw. Alright, so she didn’t want to go home. “You can’t really stay here though.” Robin knew that technically Ella could but she looked like she was on the edge of becoming one very scary germ fountain. Robin’s brow furrowed as she tried to decide how to approach this situation. Robin didn’t know this woman, Robin didn’t know who Chloe was, and She only knew one bird call, sort of. She wasn’t sure how a bird call could really summon someone who didn’t seem to be nearby.

“She’ll hear it? You’re sure?” Robin then thought that it might have more to do with Chloe’s ability, if she was indeed someone on the campus. She was too used to being out in the regular world, and she had forgotten how strange some of those meta talents were. So Robin, feeling slightly strange about it, whistled the one for the chickadee. She’d heard them enough that she could mimic it, though the impersonation was poor enough.

Robin looked back down at Ella. “Would you like some water?” It was about the only thing she had to offer at current, given that she had neither a hot tub nor pain killers stronger than Motrin.

Getting told that she couldn't stay made Ella sneer at the newcomer. But that was more bark than bite as she couldn't even keep it up. Oh were it any other day.

Ella looked up as the woman made the bird call. In her sick-adled mind, Ella was so sure Chloe would come swooping in in all her blonde glory and bring her home on a flock of turtle doves. But nobody came. Maybe Chloe was in class. Ella could wait. This woman seemed worthy enough to take care of her...for now.

At the offer, Ella held her hand out, curling and uncurling her fingers to gesture for her to give her water. "Yeah. Gimme it." She kept her hand out as she lowered her head in between her legs. "So damn hot. So damn hot."
