Fundraising [closed]

"Hello, my name is Leila Gold, and I was wondering if I could take up a few minutes of your time to discuss my plans to become the newest state representative for the area of Pilot Ridge."

The speech was written out in front of her so she wouldn't forget anything important to say, but the excitement in Leila's voice was real. She'd done some digging into Cobalt's client files--it didn't violate any real laws, since they were basically her clients too--for people to call up. And she'd discovered a gold mine, so to speak.

"I would like to know your ideas for government and what issues you would like raised. In addition, I would like to let you know about a fundraising campaign I am putting together in order to support my running for office. Do you have any questions I can answer for you, Ms. van Drakke? Or would you prefer a face-to-face meeting?"

Anastasia's phone did not ring often. An unlisted number was of course a necessity, and as she could name anyone she gave the number to it seemed without issue. However, when she picked up the phone and offered the obligatory "Hello, Anastasia speaking?" the name Leila Gold did not immediately ring a bell, and the beginning of the speech had the woman very close to giving the "no, not interested" until she heard, actually heard, what was said.

"Hello Leila," Anastasia said finally, once the speel was over. "It's lovely to hear from you, and yes, yes I am very interested. Of course, you must have guessed my first question; what would your stance on meta rights and integration be?"

The blonde tilted her head as she held the phone to her ear, even as she mouthed a request to Ivan to do a quick google search on Leila Gold. "You know what? Would you like to come over? I'd love to discuss your positions on current government policy, and your fundraiser of course, with you face to face. Would you like the address?"

Leila grinned and tapped her pencil against her chin. This would be delicate, but she thought she could manage.

"Yes, I thought that would be your question. Naturally, I intend to promote metahuman rights in order to fight against the prejudice currently in place. I hope to show that those with powers are no less than those without and certainly do not deserve to be treated as inferior. I'd like to see an equal footing for all people, regardless of any distinctions." And as soon as she figured out how to get that phrase into five words, it would be her campaign slogan.

"I would be happy to come visit you!" Leila was nearly jumping with excitement. For a first call this was going extraordinarily well. And with Anastasia van Drakke, no less! "I have a mailing address here, but I would definitely appreciate an address and directions. Unless you would rather meet somewhere in town--I wouldn't wish to intrude. Do you have a time that would be good for you?"
