Just The Way You Are [Gabriel]

Gabriel decided he would get it this time, as he heard his phone beep. Uriel pat him on the head, going back to his book as Gabriel stared at his phone, as if trying, by sheer willpower, to get it into his hand without moving.

Naturally, he quickly gave in, picking up the phone and opening it, reading the message and rolling his eyes, Uriel grinning. "Crazy girl had no idea what she's getting herself into.."

Oh really? Do you need to see the list, should I recite it in person, or would you rather I text it to you so you can lock that message and keep it for a rainy day? ;)

Even almost asleep, he could be fun, interesting, clever - and of course, honest. They didn't have a tangible list, but they were sure they could come up with one in no time as he set the phone back into his lap, shifting to actually lay in bed, shoulder against Uriel's thigh as he stared up at the ceiling. Thank goodness they had tolerable roommates..

Nora was still holding her phone when Gabriel texted back. In fact, it was still open. Jumping slightly, she almost spilled her soda down her front. Sitting the soda down on the dresser, she made certain that she hadn’t spilled anything down her front before looking to her phone. She wiped off the screen after she noted that it had a few fingerprints on it and laughed, smirking.

No, no, no. I want to see the actual list- if you and Uriel haven’t doodled all over it already. If so, well then you have to recite it to me in 4-4 cadence.

With a quick ‘ha’ she pressed send triumphantly, feeling rather witty as she closed her phone and felt around for a hair tie to gather up her hair. She found one and did such, piling the wavy mess on top of her head. She wanted it off her neck for a while. She thought about taking scissors to it, but her mother loved her hair so much she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Gabriel, now more awake simply from shifting, was holding his book over his face, reading it once again when he phone rang. Patiently, he finished his paragraph, before setting it, opened, on his chest, and picking up his phone.

As he read it, he began texting - when his phone did that thing everyone's does, where it leaps violently and angrily from your hands and attacks your face like a ninja. With a loud 'gah' noise, he swatted at his phone, Uriel doing the same simply as a reflex, before looking down and hitting Gabriel. "Clutz." "Jerk.." Gabriel mumbled back, retrieving his phone off of his face, and continuing his text.

Well, 4:4 cadence it is! Sure you don't want something a little more happy and upbeat? 3:4, perhaps a nice 6:8? We could pretend we were on a horse that way.

It was true - 6:8 time had been created to emulate a horse, and it did quite an excellent job. Uriel glared down at Gabriel. "Just because you like 6:8 time doesn't mean everyone does." Gabriel looked appalled. "Oh, but it's excellent! You'll like it one day, young padawan." He said, patting Uriel on the head as he hit send, setting his phone down and picking up his book once more.

The PS2 was starting to get a little jumpy, and Nora wondered if the disc was scratched. She gave the little black box a nudge and that fixed it right off, letting her burrow back into her hammock without having to really get up. Nibbling on another rice cake, she contemplated skipping through the ‘Like a Virgin’ song, but honestly the two men singing it hammed it up so well that she had to watch it through, despite it being a little creepy thanks to the duke being in the number.

Reaching for her phone once it issued forth its texting tune again, Nora tore her eyes from her movie after a few moments, laughing as she saw Christian’s face covered in lipstick. She let loose a final giggle before typing out her reply, starting to wonder if she needed to invest in a keyboard phone if the twins were going to text her this much.

Oooh, good point. I’ll let you choose. I’ve never ridden a horse before though.

She sent that and curled up again, dropping her phone on her dresser in order to see it better. She heard her father come up the stairs, signaling that his history program was done, and she heard the floorboards squeak passed her room and went into the master bedroom. Out of respect, she turned the volume on her TV lower.

Gabriel really was asleep this time, and Uriel reached down to shake him, though stopped. It was bedtime. He put both their books away, before climbing back into the spot on Gabriel's bed once more, taking his twin's phone and first setting an alarm before reading Nora's text.

Uriel smiled to himself, for a moment trying to think what Gabriel would say, before realizing - of course - they'd say the same thing.

Never ridden a horse? Well, that must be fixed before I ever even think of cadencing the list to you. But for now, it's bedtime - we have early classes. Good night, Noralei, I hope you sleep wonderfully :)

He clicked send, before setting the phone on their nightstand, turning off the light and shuffling down under the covers next to his twin, where he was soon also quickly asleep.
