Calling from the phone at work was normally frowned upon, but L.C. had no cell phone and it was a bit urgent. Holding the crumpled note she had found when she came into work that morning, L.C. pressed her forehead against the wall and sighed. She was seething- if her shaking hands didn’t give it away, then the grinding teeth certainly would. She remembered Estelle’s cell number vaguely- she remembered everyone’s numbers, which was a feat considering most people couldn’t even remember their own.

Once she was certain the phone was ringing, L.C. tried to quell her anger- but that totally failed as soon as she heard the phone pick up. Almost immediately she exploded, giving Estelle no time to even say hello. “He did WHAT?” She almost spit it into the phone, bristling as she tightened her fist around the piece of paper sealing Zac’s fate.

Estelle was miserable. Flat-out miserable. She didn't want to go to class (though she did), she didn't want to eat (though she did; just because she was a little dramatic didn't mean she was going to do something dangerous), and most of all, she wanted to stop crying. Which she couldn't.

She was half heartedly poking at her homework when L.C. called, the loud ringtone startling her a little bit. Sniffling, she fumbled for her little cellphone, "Hell-- whoa." She winced as L.C.'s loud, angry voice cut through her greeting, "H-hey. Yeah. He and Robbie and some technopath put up gross pictures of people up on the projector during Dr. Neville's talk." She traced a pattern on her desk listlessly, "...I punched Robbie in the face." Distantly, she thought L.C. would be a little proud of her for that.

L.C. never was miserable. When she was upset, she got angry. As far as she was concerned, she didn’t cry, not ever. July’s outburst of crying didn’t count against her because those were atypical circumstances. Her job was to protect others, not pout and curl up in a corner. When L.C. wanted to get a point across, she got it across and it stayed that way. She was a woman of action. Sitting on the sidelines didn’t get her anywhere.

Hearing the explanation from Estelle personally made it clearer how upset she was. The shaky handwriting and the crossed off words made it obvious, of course, but Her tone made it obvious that she was hurt. If L.C. could grit her teeth any harder, she would have. “Gross? You mean... Sex pictures?” Oh God. The talk. Doctor Neville’s talk? She’d never be able to look him in the eye. This was her boyfriend, doing these things. She’d never be taken seriously by him again, because she would be associated with Zac.

“You what?” Blinking, L.C. straightened up and whistled. “Dang. Did he bleed? Those defense classes your taking must be fantastic.” Yes, L.C. remembered Estelle was taking the school’s self-defense class. She had thought about signing up, but opted out after realizing with her power she’d never need them anyway.

Estelle would have been thankful for L.C.'s anger on her behalf, if she had known. Instead, she just sighed shakily, "Y-yeah. Basically. They got pictures of a lot of people. Moe, and Evan and... a bunch of other people I didn't know." She ran a hand through her hair and sighed, "Ugh, what a mess. And now I'm a mess. It's ridiculous. I figured you'd get a better handle on this situation than I have." L.C. was always the more take-charge of the two.

She let out a shaky laugh, "Well, I am a brown belt in aikido. That helps. But yeah, he bled. I think I broke his nose. And I feel like...horrible about it. But it's not like Robbie's very apologetic, so..." She shrugged, even though L.C. couldn't see it, "So what are you gonna do?"

While she didn’t much care about who was in the pictures, L.C. couldn’t help but frown. So she never gave two shits about Evan Bucket, or whatever his name was, and she figured Moe needed to be eradicated from the face of the Earth in order to stop the continuous stream of glitter coming off him, but that didn’t mean they needed to be embarrassed. Estelle didn’t deserve to lose a friend because Robbie was too stupid to know following Zac was a bad idea.

Silence was all that came from her end of the line for a moment, and as Estelle spoke, L.C. stared at the wall with grim resolution written all over her face. She’d have to talk to Zac. Estelle continued on, and once she finished, her question just hung in the air. L.C. bit her lip and shook her head. “It’ll get taken care of.” She muttered, her voice chilly. She didn’t want to give specifics, because honestly she wasn’t sure what she was going to do.

“I better go. Bye.” With that, L.C. hung up the phone and sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she went back to work.
