Jordan was hungry. As usual. But he wasn't really wanting to head all the way down to the cafeteria, so that meant he had to get something in the dorm. He knew there was stuff in the fridge, but he wasn't really sure he wanted to go out if he knew his roommates were around.
This was why he'd installed the camera. He swiveled over to his computer and brought up the feed from the camera in the dorm kitchen, then double-checked the one in the hall and the one outside the door, just to be sure. Why not, when they were available?
Nobody coming. He grinned and darted outside, his stockinged feet making almost no sound as he slid around the corner and opened the refrigerator. He stood there looking inside, checking to see if there was anything remotely worth eating. Some leftovers from a while ago, some juice, a few carrots...scratch the carrots, they were squishy. He put them back in the fridge and popped the leftovers into the microwave while taking a swig of orange juice straight out of the carton.
It was as he finished his drink that he looked around and saw that one of his roommates had materialized without his notice. Slowly he pulled the carton away from his mouth. "Um," he said. "This wasn't yours, was it? I can replace it, if you need."
The microwave dinged and he slowly opened the door and pulled out the hot food. A little too hot--it burned his fingers and he dropped it on the counter. "Ow!" he said, waving his fingers in the air. "Heh. Just grabbing a little lunch, then I'll be out of the way. Don't worry about me, I'm not here to ruin anyone's fun today."
That was, unfortunately, the way he had been known to most of his roommates. One of these days he'd prove that he wasn't a stick-in-the-mud, but he wasn't really ready to deal with that today. Maybe later.
"Do you know if there are any clean forks? I'll just grab one and go, thanks."
