Help me not blow you up [open]

She was amped up for this, no coffee or energy drink needed. In fact, the recess energy she had in her system was enough to get that adrenaline running. It would be her first actual attempt at training. She'd put it off for the first year or so, only because she was so involved in everything else on campus. But now that she had some sense of responsibilities and priorties, she knew deep down that she really needed to get her butt moving with this. After all, if she had gotten really mad, and didn't know how to control herself, she could end up making the lamps crash to the floor and blow up in a million tiny shards of glass and plastic and whatever else they were made of. No one wanted that. Especially her. She didn't want to hurt anyone, really.

She stood there, in her tank top and lounge pants, great for full flexibility since she really had no idea what she was up for in the next hour of training. She had signed up for this in the office, and was just told when to show up. That's all she knew; she didn't know who the trainer was, or if she was up against another student who was older and wiser than her and more controlled. She was up for anyone that had anything to offer, and honestly, she wanted to start to use her powers. The first time and only time she had used them was when she accidentally caused harm to someone. She didn't want that part of it, but she wouldn't mind watching something explode. It would be like creating her own action movie with just a flick of the eye, or a touch of the finger.

One of the first places Alex thought to check out after he arrived was the training rooms. He hadn't had a whole lot of practice with his power, so he was a little worried about this. But hey, that's what practice was for, right? Unfortunately, that thought didn't settle his nerves very much.

Alex walked into the training room, running a little late as usual. It looked like his partner was already there. It was a girl and she was pretty small. Given the existence of meta powers, size could be pretty deceiving. Nonetheless, it was hard not to feel bad fighting a girl who was much shorter than him. He shrugged, and walked towards her, hand outstretched to shake hers. It was always a good idea to be polite, especially before a competition or whatever.

"Hi" He greeted cheerfully. "I'm Alex. Uh... do you know how this is supposed to work?"

Alas, a door creaked open from the opposite side of the training room, and in walked a rather lanky and tall person, but from what she could tell from the facial features, not to mention the clothing, he didn't at all seem to be much of a trainer. Well, she was okay with that, as long as he didn't blow her to smithereens or send her to another dimension. He ended up walking on over to her, with a jaunty bit of a swagger. Perhaps it was because he was all tall and whatnot, that his body hadn't completely gotten it all together. You know, its a puberty thing. Maybe she'd eventually get a bit taller once puberty decided to come her way...maybe.

He stuck out his hand, introduced himself, and inquired about how this was to work. She took it and shook it happily, smiling, but her mind was trying to figure that same thing out. How were they supposed to do this? Then again, that might have helped if they had some sort of trainer, but then again, surely someone would come running if a telepath sensed something wrong. "I guess we just wing it. For example, I blow things up. Or disintegrate them.. or burn them, shatter, dissolve, etc. Take your pick. And I know I'm supposed to focus on it, that's all I know, but What could I destroy? I'm more of a forward sort of attack, if you think soccer. so I need something, something up to twenty feet tall. Anywho, what about you? What can you do?" Perhaps if they had something in common, or even totally opposite, they might be able to work this out by themselves. If not, they might be in a pickle. But remembering suddenly that he had introduced himself and she had yet to, quickly she added, "Oh, and I'm Zoe. Zoe Clementine."

Zoe didn’t seem to know what was going on either, which wasn’t particularly reassuring. It was even less reassuring when she told him what her power was. A girl who didn’t know what she was doing and could blow him up if she missed. This could be a very short training session for him. Alex couldn’t think of anything clever he could do with his power to prevent being blown up.

“That’s pretty cool. What could you destroy? Well, I guess it depends on if you’re trying to hurt someone or just scare them. Glass for the first and probably like a watermelon or something for the second. And preferably not me.” He smiled, hoping he sounded funny instead of a little freaked out.

“I have a kind of object mimicry. I can take on the properties of objects I’m touching- like hardness or elasticity or whatever. So, maybe you can blow stuff up and I can defend against it?” Alex looked around the room trying to locate something that didn’t look too dangerous if blown up in close proximity to a person. It was a little bit difficult.

He found some towels folded neatly on a shelf and took one. “Maybe we can start with something soft so I can get the timing right?”

Soft. She liked the sound of that... she didn't want to cause any harm to the boy, nor to herself. But what around her was soft...?

Then it hit her. She was wearing a sweatshirt, an old hoodie from her hometown. Now as much as she loved the smells that it held from the old use and all the familiarities, she figured she'd trust the kid on this one. "How about.. my sweatshirt? That's soft right? You could just duplicate this a thousand times or so and I could got to blow it up. I will want my sweatshirt back though, the real one. Can you make replications from the ones you've already created? Because that would be best." She went to strip off her bright pink sweatshirt, holding it out in front of her. How exactly would she go about disintegrating a sweater? Well, it would be interesting to try and find out, now wouldn't it?

Folding it up in a wad, she took it and threw it over to the boy. Perhaps they could get this going after all.
