meeting someone new (Ember Domingo)

Jane chuckled as she danced slightly as she was listening to her iPod while going to the training room. She was there most of the time. She was really working hard to control her power and learn what else she was able to do with it. She hummed softly as she was walking those the halls of Hammel Institute. She had her bag with her as well. It was filled with books, sketchbooks and a few notebooks, some for school and others for when she got some ideas for a song. She smiled as she chuckled softly as an audio version of one of her favorite books came onto her iPod that she had forgotten about. She loved this book because it told history in a funny yet truth way. She adjusted her bag a little as she walked. She was too into her audio book to notice anything else.

Jane chuckled softly as she continued to listen. Her audio book was just loud enough so that she couldn’t hear anything else around her, only the book. She could have been paying more attention to her surround, but being herself and how much she was into the book she didn’t pay any attention. Out of nowhere she fell to the ground after running into someone. She looked up and pulled her headphone off as she said” I’m so sorry about that. I wasn’t really paying attention to where I was going.” She looked up at the person she ran into and got up off of the ground.

Ember was on her way to the training rooms for once. It was one of those days that she felt like she needed to practice. Or maybe it was just that she wanted a legitimate excuse to light things on fire. Whatever the reason, she had brought her lighter and had changed into a loose tank top and shorts just for the occasion. In her hands she cradled her sketch pad, small colored papers peaking out from it's edges. She had brought it along for fun, knowing that the small paper cranes tucked inside would make excellent targets for her.

That, she decided, would be her goal for this training session. Catch a paper crane on fire from a distance. It would be tricky, seeing as the things were small enough to place in the palm of your hand. But it didn't matter. She wasn't one to back down from a bit of a challenge.

As she came around the corner of the hallway she was met with a brute force from behind, enough to knock the sketch book out of her hand. She turned her head around in a swift motion to see a small girl laying on the floor pulling a headphone out of her ear. " It's fine. " Ember said with a bit of a snort as she went to the ground to pick up the few paper cranes that had escaped the pages of her fallen sketchpad. " Don't play your music so loud next time." Em J advised looking up at the girl who had already scrambled up on her feet.

Jane looked at the girl and said” it wasn’t music it was an audio book but you are right I shouldn’t play so loud next time.” Jane put her iPod into her bag and looked down at the floor and saw a couple of paper cranes that had fallen out of the girl’s sketchbook. She bent down and picked a few of them up and handed them to her as she said with a shy smile” again I’m so sorry I ran into you. I was in my own little world while going to the training rooms to practice some.”


Jane looked around not sure what to say at all. She was usually a talkative girl but she was shy right now so she didn’t know what to say to this girl. She normally wasn’t this shy but it was understandable for her to be this shy in her mind. She smiled as she zipped up her jacket a little and she put her hands in her pockets as her bag hung safely on her shoulder. She looked around then she said” ummm…. Well I’ll leave you alone now it was nice meeting you”


She looked around as she looked at the girl one last time then started towards the training room that she was going to work on her powers in. She sighed as she walked slowly to the training room.

Ember raised her eyebrow at the words audio book. She could see the girl getting deep into music but she couldn't see anyone getting into someone reading to them. Em J said nothing though and shoved the cranes in her hand back into the pages of her sketch pad. As she got up off of the ground she nodded as the girl handed over a few more cranes that had fallen. " Thanks, really, accidents happen just try to stay in our world when your walking, " She advised again rubbing her lower back a little where the girl had collided with her. " You do pack quite a punch."

The girl seemed a bit shy about the whole ordeal. She looked as though she was younger. Probably 13 or something. Ember understood the girl was embarrassed so she let any anger about the event fade in a nice long sigh. " Hey if your heading towards the training rooms why don't you come with. I'm heading the same way." Ember prompted as the girl started walking off.
