Blame The Blind - Honor Tags Levente

[Honor Sayers]

Honor took good care of her own things. She was known for it. Which was why when she tried to open her drawer and it got stuck, she had to fight every single urge not to scream out a hissy fit.

Kicking it didn't help, slamming her fist into it most certainly didn't either so the most rational thing for her to do was to call the one person in charge of fixing things.

After procuring the name of said person, she carelessly used her power on a student to track down this Mr. Levente Cohen so he would come down and help her drawer get unstuck.

Waiting was definitely not her strongest suit but she quietly sat at her table, fiddling with a folder.

Meanwhile, the boy under Honor's spell finally found Levi and tugged at his shirt sleeve. "Miss Sayers would like you to go to the trainer's office and fix her drawer." He said mechanically before blinking away in confusion. "H...how did I get here...?" he frowned before walking away, still in confusion.

Levente was at the other end of the school emptying out trashcans when a student walked up to him. “Hey kiddo,” he said, turning to smile at the boy. ”What’s up?” Levente noticed the kid seems a little robot-like, but he wasn’t concerned until the kid walked away confused as to how he had arrived in Levente’s presence.

As the kid walked away, Levente was starting to get a little angry at this Miss Sayers person. He was very protective of his students. So he wasn’t happy when they were toyed around with, even if it was harmless.

He stomped across the school, heading towards the training offices. Although he knew most of the staff around Hammel, he was having trouble picturing which one Miss Sayers was.

Arriving at the office, he banged on the door. Then, feeling bad that he was getting to heated without evening giving Miss Sayers a chance to explain, he knocked a little lighter. “Miss Sayers?” he called through the door.

Honor didn't like surprises, something her disability sort of amplified. So when the bangings started, she winced slightly, her light hold on the folder she had been playing with tightened considerably.

As her name was called out, Honor grimaced and called out for the man to come in. She wiped her face clean of the grimace and put on a sweet smile. This man was after all helping her.

"Mr. Cohen, I presume?" she asked when she heard the door open and shut. She stood up and slid over to the couch and gave him a pitiful look. "My drawers seem to be stuck and I have so many important documents in there I need access to." She sighed exaggeratedly before placing one hand over an eye. "If I could see what I was doing, I would have fixed it myself but..." she sighed softly one more time before shaking her head.

"If you could help me, I would so appreciate it."

Levente walked into the office, realizing at once who Miss Sayers was. Although he still couldn’t recall her first name, he remembered seeing her around the campus. He immediately felt bad for being pissed at the blind professor, well at least bad that he was pissed off so much. He still wasn’t too terribly happy with her messing around with a student.

“Please,” Levente said as he approached the stuck drawer. “Call me Levente.” He gave a test tug on the drawer and then bent down to get a closer look. He looked over towards Miss Sayers, still debating on whether to yell at her pr not.

“You know,” he said, pulling a screwdriver out of his back pocket. “You could have just asked someone to find me. Instead of making them.”

The sad thing about having her disability was that once she decided on a specific role to play around certain people, there was no margin for error. Simply because she had to always play it like the person was always facing her. She couldn't twitch, her smile or frown couldn't change for anything. Even if she wanted to scowl at the man for suggesting she made a student do anything.

No, the fact that she actually did make a student do her bidding had not escaped her.

"I'm sorry...what exactly are you implying?" She asked, her tone level and her smile just a tad forced.

Still kneeling in front of the drawer, Levi slide the screwdriver into the crack of the drawer. He felt around for a bit, trying to tell if there was a file or something causing the drawer to not open. He stalled as long as he could before answering Miss Sayers.

“I think you know what I mean ma’am,” Levente said, still messing with the drawer. “It’s not a good example to be settin’ for the children.” He turned toward the woman, a little glad she couldn’t see the glare on his face. “If ya ask me, at least.”

His screwdriver hit against a folder blocking the drawer’s path. Using the screwdriver he slide it back down. Pulling out the screwdriver, he tried pulling open the drawer again. “Still stuck,” he said more to himself than anything.

Honor maintained her unwavering smile even though she was anything but happy with being accused point blank. "Well I didn't, did I Mr. Cohen?" she simpered in a polite tone. Her hand itched to reach out and make him keep quiet. Maybe that could be saved for later.

"Will this take long, Mr. Cohen?" Honor asked, her impatience showing just a bit. "I would like to know how long I should sit here being accused of something I don't know anything about." She remarked, her smile now bordering on creepy.

If Miss Sayers had been a Mr. Sayers, Levente would have loved to knock her a little silly. But as it was she was a woman, a blind woman. Even though Levente didn’t approve of her ethics, there wasn’t really much he could do about it. After all, he was just the maintained man. And truth was, not many people cared what he had to say. So hardly anyone did ask him.

Still, he wished he could give her a little shock, just to shut her up.

“Shouldn’t take too long, ma’am,” he said, as he undid a screw on the drawer. For a minute he thought about telling her he didn’t have the right tools and that he’d come back later. And then just let her sit it out for a while. But he happened to notice that the drawer had just come off its track. He shoved it back on, and tightened the screw that held it in place.

“That should do it,” he said, opening and closing the drawer to test it out. He stood and walked to where she was sitting, sliding his screwdriver back into his pocket. “Now if you don’t mind, next time you can just ask around for me. I’d rather not have robots come up to me and then walk off confused about where they are.” He wasn’t trying to be threatening, but he couldn’t help the electricity built up in his body from sparking around his hands a little.

It didn't take long for Levi to finally be done with the drawer and his final words to her as he brushed by her made her grimace out of annoyance.

The static she felt in the air didn't help much. She got up and moved to her desk to test the drawer to find it okay again.

"Thank you, Mr. Cohen. If for any reason I need your expertise on something, I'll ask." She responded sarcastically with a little sneer on her face. "But in the meantime, keep your opinions to yourself why don't you? You're just maintenance. It's highly inappropriate for the help to be voicing out at any cost." Honor finished, flexing her fingers threateningly.

Levente opened his mouth to yell out a spew of obscenities, but managed to keep his cool for the time being. Just maintenance? He screamed in his head. That’s the last time I help her out.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself even as the woman started to sneer at him. “Listen lady, I can understand you needin’ a little extra help with your disability and all, but that doesn’t mean you need to mess around with the students. I could understand if it was during a training session. But there’s no need to be so lazy.”

He took another deep breath, trying to discharge the static growing in his palms. “And I may be just the maintenance guy, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have morals.”

The change in Levi's voice made Honor smirk. She found a perverse pleasure in baiting people and them actually falling for it never failed to amuse her. Especially when they fall for it so quickly. Like now. People were just so easily pliant.

"Lazy? Mr. Cohen, you wound me." Honor placed a hand over her chest and laughed lightly. "Mr. Cohen, if people weren't so lazy themselves, I wouldn't have to use my powers at all."

A manic grin passed Honor's lips when the fine hairs on her arms stood to attention at the presence of growing static. "Oh, Mr. Cohen. You should really learn to control your temper. And talk about lazy. Wanting to use your powers on a defenseless blind woman like me..." Honor clucked her tongue against the roof of her mouth repeatedly before sliding on to her chair.

"I do thank you for the drawer Mr. Cohen. If you could please let yourself out?" Honor didn't even bother looking up.

Levente was trying his very best not to say much. He had a feeling if he opened his mouth he wouldn’t be able to stop. And after all, he kind of needed this job. So instead of lashing out with some verbal abuse, he huffed and started towards the door.

“Good day, Miss Sayers,” he said as he slammed the door behind him as loud as he could. He hoped the noise would give her a headache. As he started to walk away, he considered unscrewing the doorknob, or at least jamming it with something. But he forced himself to continue down the hallway. Women, he yelled in his head as he kicked a trashcan.
