The Institute looked almost the same as when she had left it nearly 11 years ago. She had been one of the most popular girls in the school in her day and had excelled in her classes. After graduation, she became a cop like her father. She was on the force for five years before leaving on the search for her twin brother, Loki. She finally realized the reason she’d decided to come to the institute instead of going back to the force was because she secretly hoped her brother would return here as well. The red walls of this school held a lot of information and that was one thing Loki had always been interested in, even if it hadn’t shown in his school work. If he had tried in school, he probably would have graduated valedictorian instead of his sister. He’d been researching some shady things before his disappearance and she thought maybe she could do some digging here about it while she settled in with her new job. Security officer… not as honorable as the badge that she was used to carrying or any career she could have chosen with her school grades, but she would do it with the same amount effort she put into everything else. She wouldn’t do something unless she was giving it her all.
It was her first day and she had arrived an hour early so that she could familiarize herself with the grounds again. It was easy, once she was there it all came back to her. As she walked around she observed every detail of the place, down to how many trees there were. Her mind tucked the useless information away, to be recalled in the future if ever the need arose. Dizzle roamed ahead of her, running the grounds like he’d been there a thousand times before. He stopped at every student he came across, tail wagging and ears perked, looking for attention. Libby walked by Lex, matching her step. She hardly left her owner’s side unless she was asked to. Where Dizzle craved attention, Libby was leery of strangers and was not one to let random people pet her. She would not get aggressive; she just tended to avoid them.
A quick look at her watch told her she had fifteen minutes left to report to duty. She remembered exactly where the Security Office was and made her way there, hoping Mr. Vincent Romanov was in his office and ready to show her what her job would entail. At his door she gave three quick, loud knocks and stood waiting, a dog on either side of her.
Apparently she was earlier than she thought she was. When she didn't receive an answer, she decided she would look around some more getting her feel of the place. Maybe she would bump into someone that could tell her what she needed to do.
