Too Much Power in One Day (Izzy and Doc Declan)

((Continuation of Just a Quick Swim))

Having just passed out from overusing her powers, Adrianna was surrounded by darkness. She couldn't see anything, but black. She could hear the faint muffling of someone talking. Izzy? She had tried so hard to push against the pain in her head and the sick feeling in her stomach, that she had pushed herself over the edge instead.

Power usage was not something to take lightly. She had never dealt with it of this magnitude, but the last time she had, it had taken her a few days to recover. That had been when she didn't know the boundaries of her power. Now she did, she just didn't follow them. Adri was bound and determined to help Izzy. She had helped, but at the cost of her consciousness.

She felt as if she was floating. Not on a cloud, but just in air. She could barely feel Izzy's arms around her. It was hard deciphering what was real and what she was imagining. Being unconscious wasn't really all that fun.

Adrianna didn't blame Izzy by any means for what happened. He had lost control of his powers, much like other people did. Adrian had been the one that pushed her own powers trying to help him. She knew what the consequences could be, but she didn't care. She did what she believed was right and she didn't regret it. And she definitely didn't want Izzy to feel guilty for her passing out. It was really no big deal.

Well to her it wasn't at least.

Izzy really needed to puke. Almost as much as he needed to get Adrianna into a bed as soon as possible. He'd burst into the infirmary, nearly considering shouting like this was a Lifetime movie or something. Somehow, he managed to restrain himself, instead just heading toward the nearest bed. He got there easily enough, and managed to more or less dump Adrianna in it.

Really, he'd have liked to have been gentler with her, considering her position as a member of the fairer sex and all. But the exhaustion from power training, mixed with the nausea that came with alternating times, plus his own unsettlement with the power, plus the fact that the room simply wouldn't sit still, plus their current states of dress, meaning swimsuits and little else, plus the stress of carrying a girl from the pool to the infirmary and moving nearly as fast as he could managed, all added up to his needing more to vacate his arms than anything.

Panting, Izzy straightened up, looking around the room and swallowing desperately against a rising feeling within. "Help?" he tried. Like whoever was here couldn't tell that. "We need some help over here!"

Oh God, how he wanted to grab a bucket and just empty his guts. Instead, he started moving, trying to locate whomever happened to be in the infirmary at the time. Surely they'd have noticed the duo barging in...

Adrianna was beginning to think somewhat straight. She could put together what had happened before she passed out. She could feel her surroundings and she could feel Izzy's arms still around her. Then she felt herself being placed on what she assumed was a bed or something soft. She barely heard his panting, but she knew by the sound of his heavy breathing, he was just as exhausted as she was, and yet he was still working on getting her help.

If she had been more conscious at this time her heart would have reacted in some way, but for now it just beat slowly and steadily. She heard him call out for help, the whole time her hearing became clearer. She could actually see through darkness.

Adrianna began opening her eyes, but not very much. Exerting the much energy to merely blink, was making her head spin in violent circles like on a psychotic Carnival ride. She made a muffled moan and tried to sit up, "Izzy?" She asked trying to look for him, but her eyes had slid shut again.

She may have been able to open her eyes a little, but her focus was way off. All she saw were blurry walls of white and nothing more besides the ceiling. Not much of a view to be honest.

At least some of the staff were moving now. People were coming forward to give aid to the students, recognizing power abuse for what it was. Official help was sent for, and Izzy found himself being pushed onto a bed. He still struggled to stay upright, insisting that he'd heard Adrianna say something that sounded like his name. In fact, he kept pointing to her, saying that they needed to treat her first and forget about him.

"You're suffering from an overextension of your powers," a voice said. Where was that coming from? Was time still moving slowly or something? Izzy's world spun, and his stomach lurched. Soon he was emptying the contents onto something, not really knowing what or where he was really aiming. Just emptying, in a great gush that couldn't possibly be natural in the slightest.

"Adrianna?" he asked, blinking and trying to find her. "She copied my power. Time control. We're, urrgh."

More vomit, more unpleasantness.

Adrianna heard more voices and she tried to focus more on who it was. She assumed it was the staff trying to get them stabilized or whatever. She could still hear Izzy's voice the clearest for some reason. She wanted to call out for him again, but she couldn't find her voice. Everything was just moving in circles around and around. It was nauseating. Her stomach convulsed and her chest lurched, but nothing happened.

She went to open her eyes, but a heap of darkness surrounded her again. She closed her eyes and moaned. Once she finally got a hold of herself she found her eyes to be open and she only noticed a nurse standing over her checking her vitals.

Adrian heard Izzy say her name and she turned her head towards the sound of his voice. She spotted him in a bed close to hers and she noticed how sick he was. That had to have been her fault. Wasn't it? Her head pounded hard. "Izzy?" She said a little louder hoping he'd be able to hear that she was conscious and that she was okay. She had a feeling he would probably feel bad for her passing out like that.

And lo, there was much puking. Izzy's guts apparently were attempting to turn themselves inside out, and the room was spinning around him. Though it was hard for him to think too much outside of the "Oh God, when did I eat peas?," it was occurring to Izzy that he'd never used his power, especially of his own volition, for quite so long before. Which explained why he felt displaced.

Oh, yeah, and the vomiting.

"I suck," groaned Izzy. He wiped off his mouth and burped, which, of course, led to more unpleasantness. Through bleary eyes, Izzy looked to Adrianna. She at least seemed better off than him, in that the contents of her stomach weren't in a rush to vacate themselves in a hurry. She'd also been unconscious though, and while Izzy wasn't sure, he was betting that was more important.

Tell that to his stomach though.

"But yeah, it's totally me," managed Izzy. He chuckled. "Sorry about all this. I swear, I don't usually make people puke."

Speaking of, well, you know the drill by now, I'm sure.

Adrianna kept slipping in and out of consciousness. She would be awake and able to look around one minute, but the next she was surrounded in black darkness that was pressing down on her hard. She felt horrible. Her head pounding, her stomach convulsing, her chest lurching, she couldn't get a grip. The nurse gave her some sort of sedative shot and she slowly started slipping back into unconsciousness, deeper and deeper as it went on.

She was more than a little exhausted. Actually she was dead beat. She couldn't move, she couldn't see, she couldn't hear. Everything was just gone. She was deep in sleep and nothing would make her wake up unless she was ready. It could have taken hours, days even, but the last time it happened it had only taken an hour.

With Izzy being so violently sick, she didn't want to stay under for long. She needed to help get him better too. (Even though helping him was what had gotten her into this mess) She didn't mind helping him. He obviously had helped her too.



(OOC: Okay so Adrian is passed out completely under. Would you like to skip a little bit of time until she wakes up and maybe explain what happens to Izzy during that time?))

{sorry about the delayed response. I was hoping that Declan would show up, and was giving some time for him to do so. Time skippy makes sense to me.}

The various nurses and medical personnel were buzzing around the two, tending to them like overbearing mothers and aunties. Izzy was dimly aware of various medications being presented, and he had some vague memory of being told to drink something. It probably didn't help that the extreme strain was starting to cause mental time skips too, disrupting Izzy's personal timeline and making it that much more difficult for him to follow what was going on around him.

Somehow though, Izzy managed to stay conscious. Not lucid, not by a long shot, but certainly conscious enough to be aware of what was going on. He watched as several of the practitioners worked on Adrianna, right up to and past the girl's passing out. One of the nurses caught him looking, smiled a knowing smile, and reassured him, insisting that they'd be alright.

So Izzy tried to relax and let them do their thing. The worst of it was knowing that he'd caused it all, with his backfiring power. If only he had more control this wouldn't have happened. The idea just made his stomach tighten, and considering how that had been lately.

Thankfully they'd provided some meds for that. So when Adrianna finally came to, likely the first thing she'd see is Izzy nearly staring at her, praying and willing that she'd somehow manage to wake back up again. An overreaction, to be sure, but that hardly stopped him.

Once she had gone completely under, she kept dreaming. It wasn't your typical dreaming, most of the dreams were just swirls and colors. She could hear muffled voices, but she wasn't sure if they were in her dream or around her. She couldn't distinctly hear any familiar voices either, so she assumed it wasn't part of her dream...unless her conscience was trying to talk to her. It wasn't working very well if it was.

Adri wasn't sure exactly what was going on while she was unconscious, but she didn't think she wanted to know. Needles freaked her out and the beeping monitors did too. She hated hospitals a lot, mostly because she had spent so much time in them when her mother had first gotten sick. Dreaded places, always cold and the smell of bleach was everywhere. It made her stomach twist whenever she thought about it.

She finally regained consciousness and her eyes opened slightly. She turned her head to the side and she spotted Izzy, looking worried as ever. She managed a small, embarrassed smile. She was embarrassed for passing out on him and having him carry her to the infirmary. She took a deep breath, "Hey Izzy...you okay?" She asked softly, worrying more about him than herself at the moment.

"Better than I was," admitted Izzy, laughing dryly. The meds flowing through his veins were doing his job, making his stay as pleasant as they could manage. Sure, Izzy still wasn't entirely certain what was going on around him, and his stomach still hurt, but it was certainly better than the intense stomach ache that had been plaguing him since the powers collided.

"How about you?" he asked. Izzy rolled over to sit up on one side, wincing only slightly at the change in perspective. "Are you doing alright? The whole powers thing can be a doozy. Plus there's the whole vomiting and carrying and stuff."

Izzy swallowed. He didn't want to tell her the exact details, but at the same time he didn't want to lie to her either. This seemed to be a nice happy medium. As he stared at Adrianna, Izzy had a dozen thoughts run through his head, most of the nature of "this can't happen again." Stupid things, powers.

But words? None at the moment. Just hanging on Adrianna's description of self and some intense concerned looking.

Adrianna smiled slightly when he laughed, happy to hear that he was better, even if it wasn't by much. She really was worried, despite the medication fogging up her vision and her thoughts. She could still manage to worry a lot even through the cloudy thoughts.

"I'm alright, a little embarrassed ya know for the whole passing out and what not." She blushed slightly and bit her lower lip. It was a force of habit. Passing out wasn't something Adrian did often.

She had barely caught the vomiting and carrying thing, but when she had she felt instantly more awful. She hadn't put together the fact that he had to carry her from the pool to the infirmary with both of them in swim attire and soaking wet. She frowned and sighed, "I'm sorry you had to carry me and I'm sorry you were stuck in here too."

Maybe it hadn't been her fault, but she didn't believe it was Izzy's either. He had helped her a lot and she was thankful he had. Otherwise she would have drowned or something.

"Not your fault," muttered Izzy. No, he knew full well who was to blame here. It wasn't Adrianna's fault that she had issues controlling a power that wasn't normally hers. He should have known better, should have had better control.

Izzy opened his mouth to say as such, but ended up closing it instead, shifting uncomfortably. It lasted right up until Adrianna started apologizing. Then Izzy was shaking his head, nearly shooting up from his position. Not the best idea, with the world spinning, but the reaction felt wholly necessary given the context.

"It's not your fault! It's mine!' he insisted. "I'm the one who can't control his power. It's this-this whole thing. I'm still getting used to it, or, or something. I just shouldn't have put you into that position, really."

He shifted, turning to look the opposite direction. Suddenly talking, heck, looking at Adrianna just didn't seem like such a good idea anymore.

Adrian felt bad for Izzy being sick. She had only made things worse by passing out. She was the problem. Not him. At least that's what she believed. Whether it was right or not, she didn't really care.

When she started her apology she had felt responsible, but by the end she felt more than just responsible. Apologies just started flowing out of her mouth and she couldn't stop them. He shot up into a sitting position and she stopped abruptly wondering why he had just done that because she knew it probably didn't help him feel any better. He was shaking his head and then he spoke.

Adri definitely didn't agree with his words. It was not his fault. Just because he can't control his power doesn't mean she had to do anything. Of course Adrianna wouldn't just sit there and let it happen, but she didn't have to use her power. She also didn't have to stay around when things started getting bad. Once she got a feel for his power, she knew if she ever had to go up against it, it would not have gone well. She could have left right then and there, but she didn't. She made the decision.

Adrianna sat up, slower than Izzy had. She felt a slight dizziness, but thought nothing of it. She frowned when he turned away from her. "Izzy..." She didn't really know what would make him think that it wasn't his fault. She knew blaming herself would only make things worse, but she truly believed it was her own fault for passing out and getting so sick.

Adri looked at her hands in her lap, "Izzy it wasn't your fault. You can't help it. Powers are difficult to get control over. Especially yours. You don't have to take the blame. I made my own decisions, you didn't put the idea in my head to stay." She spoke quietly, but with a firm tone. She believed what she was saying to be true, she just wished he would see it too.

"But that's just it, Adrianna, it was," insisted Izzy. He looked into her eyes now, wishing that he could just will her to understand what he was saying. "It's my power, not someone else's. You borrowed it. I should have known better, should have, I don't know, done something to ward off stuff like that happening. It wouldn't have even happened if I had more control."

He sighed, running his hand through his hair. Yes, Adrianna had acted of her own free will, doing what she wanted, and Izzy didn't want to take that from her. On the other hand, he knew full well what the real problem had been. She wouldn't have used his power had said power not gotten out of hand. No, this just proved that Izzy needed more control, and he needed it quickly.

"I'll fix it, so stop worrying," said Izzy. He laid back down onto the bed, closing his eyes, trying to shut out the spinning world around him. Why did his power have to suck so much? Other people got to fly, or had super strength. They didn't have to suddenly jerk into a separate time zone. Even other students with Izzy's power didn't have this. It sucked.

Fate must hate him.

Adrianna's face fell deeper and she felt as though she was a small child being told she had done something wrong. She hated that he believed everything was his fault. She curled up in a ball as he spoke and pushed back tears that came to her eyes. It wasn't his fault. Why couldn't he believe her? "Izzy stop...please. Everyone has problems with their power..." She spoke in a slightly broken and clearly upset tone. Though she had just met Izzy, he was just too darn adorable not to care about. Seeing him take the blame made her feel horrible.

She felt a tear slide down her cheek when he laid back down trying to shut the world around him out. She really just wanted to get up and walk out, but instead she turned away from him and stayed wrapped around herself, hiding her face in her arms. She chewed on her lip and listened to him speak once more.

Her stop worrying? Never. It just wasn't in her nature. She worried about everyone...

Especially people she started liking. (Though she tries to hide it).
