It was kind of late. Ravyn glanced wearily at her clock - 9:00 PM - and felt it was much later. She had been studying for the past three hours, and her brain felt like it was about ready to explode from images of chemical equations and moles and elements running through her head. It was time for a break. She pushed aside her notes and text book and sat up on her bed, stretching. She was one of the lucky kids that had a room all to herself, and she took advantage of the fact by turning up the radio. Listening, she realized it was "Call Me Maybe", and started humming along, even though the song was way over-played. She grabbed her hairbrush and began to dance around her room, not caring that her hair was in a messy ponytail and she was just in some slouchy pajamas - it was hot outside, so she was just wearing some dorm boxers and a light tanktop.
Soon the song ended, and she laughed, realizing how ridiculous she must look. She turned the music down again, but was hit with a sudden burst of inspiration from the song. It had been a while since she had talked to Cameron; after their breakup, they had managed to remain good friends, but even though they were neighbors, they didn't always see each other a lot. Building up her courage (from either lack of sleep or pure boredom at having studied so long), she brushed out her hair and then crept out of her room, sneaking across the hall to knock on Cameron's door. No one else was around, and she stood there awkwardly for a moment until the door opened. "Uh, hey," she greeted him, smiling tentatively. "How's it going?" Might as well start easy. She had forgotten how captivating those blue eyes could be...
