Danny was back on one of his shopping sprees. There wasn’t much he loved more than shopping. Other than, you know, spending time with Cobalt. And Riley. And Sean and Josh (although that sometimes got a little awkward). And of course there was model making, and going to movies…well, okay, maybe there wasn’t much that Danny DIDN’T like doing more than shopping, but he still enjoyed it a great deal. And although the mall didn’t really have many art supplies—the town was too small—he was determined to enjoy it and find what he could.

But right now, he’d been distracted by one of his favorite stores in the whole wide world: Brookstone. He didn’t know why. He wasn’t naturally very inclined toward electronics. But something about back massagers and silly phone cases just caught his attention and made him spend hours and hours in the ridiculously overpriced and absolutely silly store.

Mostly without buying anything. Which was a good way to drive the sales clerks absolutely bonkers. They’d mostly gotten used to him, though, and today were doing their best to ignore him completely. This was probably a bad idea, because Danny had a tendency to muck with the wiring a little too often, and this got him into trouble. Today was no exception. But the trouble he got into was a little larger than usual. Today, Danny had managed to set something on fire. It hadn’t been intentional, really! But he’d turned things on and had tried to plug one thing into something else, and before he knew it, something was sparking, and then the wood shelves that made up the store were smoldering.

“Uh.” So far, no one seemed to have noticed. He could totally do this. He could stay calm in a crisis, right? “Uh. Someone—someone got a fire extinguisher?”

He was never, ever, ever going to tell Cobalt about this.

Why he was in the mall was some different story that would take way to long to explain. Lets just say there was a glass of orange juice and his laptop. After yelling at Luke quite a bit Matt was in the mall again. This time he was going to get a waterproof case for his laptop. Thus he was in the store with his newly bought laptop, making sure that he would have the correct dimensions.

It might have been ridiculously overpriced, but it was well worth it. This time no liquids by his laptop. If there was, it would be his and his alone. Luke was also suspended from using his laptop. This wouldn't happen again, and if it did, Luke wouldn't be staying at his house.

There were not many people around the store here, and Matt was able to shop in peace, communicating by notebook with the sales clerk. The store was quiet and the one clerk on was nice enough to take the time to throughly explain Matt's questions. Sometimes the clerks acted as if they were bad. Today was a good day however and Matt was fairly happy with the outcome of it so far. That was until one of the other customers started a fire. Matt looked around for the clerk, only to realize that he had disappeared. Damn it all.

Frowning he noticed the extinguisher, on the wall. Breaking into the glass Matt pulled the alarm and took the extinguisher out. In the blaring of the alarms Matt tried to get over to the start of the fire. Who was this idiot that had messed with the wires. Frowning he tried to make the extinguisher work, covering the man in the foam in the process.

Hey at least it was in the right direction.

Danny really didn’t mean to panic when he’d set the thing on fire. He knew it was silly to panic. It wasn’t like he hadn’t done this before. Working with Adam Savage, who had been infamous for setting Danny’s models on fire during the time when the now-Mythbuster was doing special effects for the movies. Danny had been very good at grabbing the extinguisher and dousing the flames before it could damage his precious model. However, it seemed the year out of Hollywood had dulled his reflexes, and so he didn’t instantly go for the fire extinguisher.

A bad idea, because he then ended up covered in foam as someone else grabbed it. He took off his glasses to wipe them off, then glanced over his shoulder. The fire was still there.

“Excuse me,” he said politely, then took the extinguisher from the—boy? He couldn’t tell without his glasses—and sprayed it in the general direction of the fire, probably covering everything else in the process. Then he looked over at the boy.

“Do you think you could find me a towel?” he inquired.
