Odion watched the lake as well, his eyes glittering with the body of water. Odion was trying not to cry, trying to keep it together and be strong for himself. It wasn’t about doing things wrong, it was about trying to do them right. Sure people were bound to make mistakes, and Odi didn’t expect Rhett to be perfect. But he did expect Rhett to try and do things right. Blatantly ignoring the fact that he couldn’t even tell his boyfriend where he was headed for three months, that was so wrong he would’ve known that before ever leaving, and he hadn’t done a thing to stop it.

“Idiot is putting it lightly,” Odion said, watching Rhett from the corner of his eye. Rhett was every bit as handsome, if not more so, than Odi remembered. “I can’t take your word for it Rhett, we’ll just have to see how these next couple months go.” Odi wasn’t ready to call it a quits but he wasn’t ready to try again and make everything official. “Until then, there is no us.” He looked at Rhett, hard determination in his eyes. He promised himself that he would never be like Rhett, and he wasn’t dancing around his words today. A kiss was a kiss but a relationship was more than a moment, and Rhett couldn’t see that.

Rhett sighed while Odion kept denying what they were. He was not particularly happy, but he wasn't that bothered either. He wasn't expecting on Odion to surrender this easily. After all, for Rhett, this was a battle between the blonde and the ginger's pride, because he knew Odion wanted to be with him despite everything else he said and everything that was going on. Lani didn't have anything on him, not with Odion, not yet.

"There is us." Rhett moved closer to the ginger until their sides touched each other. "Together. Right now. It is us." He grabbed his boyfriend's hand and placed them under his leg, making it harder for the ginger to let go of it if he wanted. "You can make a one-day exception in the alleged three months punishments, can you not?" Rhett looked at Odion for a moment. "Give me one day." He wiped his face with his free hand and then checked it to make sure there wasn't any more blood flowing. "At least so you can nurse me your right hook."

Thank god it didn't really hurt that much. It served as warm up, though. Once Rhett happened to run into Lani, or the other blonde decided to hunt Rhett down, stuff was going to go down and all the scenarios Rhett had in his head about what was going to happen involved at least a single punch to his guts. A miracle could happen, though, but being real, Rhett didn't lean on those.

"Don't get rid of the necklace again, please." He shook his head lightly. "What you saw was just the one successful attempt of trying to get it from the bottom of the lake after twenty-two failures."

Rhett should be bothered. If it was something he truly wanted and was worth fighting for he should be bothered. Odion had surrendered more than once already. One when he ended up going to Kocher and happily found Rhett, only to have the blonde leave again for America. Odi of course, chased him down. Now, it was time for the roles to be reversed. Odion wasn’t running away physically. This was sick, twisted game and Odi was still trying to be a part of it. Lani didn’t have a firm hold on Odi, but neither did Rhett. He was stuck somewhere in between, both boys having their own hang ups.

“Yeah right now,” he said in a condescending tone. Odion gripped Rhett’s hand tightly, because he had missed him and didn’t want him to leave again. But after everything Rhett said, Odion would just be counting the days until Rhett left again. It was then that Odi decided that should he ever leave, Rhett would never feel the same way he did. Yes Odion came off as strong, but Rhett should’ve known better. He chose to ignore that and that hurt, along with everything else Rhett was doing. Rhett should’ve seen how thin and underweight Odion had become in such a short time.

“I’m not giving you anything Rhett,” he said, not an ounce of kindness in his eyes or words, “you can take care of yourself.” Wasn’t that what Rhett was trying to prove? That he could handle things on his own?

Odion held the necklace, looking down at it thoughtfully. “You have no idea what you put me through, do you?” He asked, really wishing Rhett hadn’t gone fishing for it. He was being so disrespectful. And then it clicked. That’s what was missing this whole time, and that’s what Odion was getting somewhere else. Maybe he didn’t need Rhett any more, but part of him still wanted him and that same part didn’t want to hurt Rhett. He put the watch in his pocket. He’d ask Lani to get rid of it for him later.

Odion was stubborn in his position. Rhett didn't really expect anything less of him, but at least his words spoke different than his actions, as the ginger was still there with him and with his hand held tight. It was good as it is. It was simple.

The blonde was tempted to correct Odion with the "not giving you anything" phrase, as he was giving Rhett that moment alone, but he decided not to, he didn't want to risk him removing his hand from where it was. It was beyond fine right there. The following words seemed to need a reply, but Rhett wanted to remain shut as well. Everything he said could, and would, be used against him, and this was a fine enough moment as it was like to jeopardize it.

"I'm sorry." He felt like it was then hundredth time he apologized. "How many times do you want me to say it? How do I have to prove it to you?" He was talking softly, he wasn't angry as the questions could suggest, he was curious. "I want you to go with me to France before break's over." He sighed. "I want to show you."

Maybe this was as good as it was going to get. Odion didn't expect anything more from Rhett. And that probably wasn't a good thing but what did Odi know about proper relationships?

"There's really nothing you can do," Odi said, though there was a bit of strength in what he said. Really there was nothing Rhett could do to gain Odion's trust. This was why he needed a break. Maybe he could have convinced himself that he could trust Rhett again but seeing Rhett again like this. It was clear. This was all very sad. It would've been better to just be angry at Rhett forever, and now, Odion had to deal with things he hadn't wanted to.

Odion nodded. "Okay, I'll go with you."He would go because he was curious. Seemed like he was going to have quite the busy summer, between going to Boston and now France. Hopefully his fake passport would hold up. Odi let go of Rhett and watched the lake. He really didn't have anything else to say, and nothing else was on his mind.

"It doesn't mean I'll stop trying." Rhett responded to Odion.

Did Odion really think Rhett's cause was a lost one? What did those moments just a second ago meant, then? What did those kisses meant? The ginger was surely saying many hurtful things out loud, but he was losing with his actions. He might be wanting something with his mind but letting himself at his heart's mercy, which wanted something different. Now all Rhett had to do was to end the convincing process of Odion's head as well. All in all, his general plan was going exactly as he wanted, though, and Odion's acceptance of going to France proved it.

"We'll pick a date later." Rhett said while sliding aside, away from Odion, and then lying down on then sand, resting his head in the ginger's legs. "Summer's long, and we've got all the time in the world."

Odion played with Rhett's hair a bit, watching him with tired eyes. How was he ever supposed to trust him again? Even if he wanted to? Why did he have to leave at all. Odion wondered where he would be right now if Rhett hadn't left him behind. He probably never would've met Lani, and that made him feel a despair so large, he wondered if he would really lose his mind if Lani ever left.

"You mean, I have all the time in the world." Odion grinned, and averted his eyes from Rhett to the lake. He could stay like this for a while. So long as Rhett's nose held up. Odion smirked, feeling proud of himself. And he hated to admit it, but Rhett gave him a sense of peace.
