I Have Butterflies... Wait, Marry WHO!? (Raines)

Ravyn plopped down on her bed and pulled out her phone, still grinning from ear-to-ear as she looked down at her open palm. She had scored both their numbers, without even asking! As she bit her lip and tried to decide which number to text, she got a familiar feeling in her stomach - butterflies. That was always a good sign, right? She picked the top number (just because it seemed the natural thing to do) and typed:

To: Raines #1
Back in my dorm room.... Just wanted to let you know!

There, simple and to the point. Now she would find out what type of texters they were - the one-word type, or the overly-describing type, or somewhere in between.

Uriel's phone buzzed, and both boys high fived, even if this gave Uriel face-rubbing allowances for getting the first text from her. Upon telling his brother she was home safe, he typed back a quick and simple text.

To Ravyn:
Awesome! Glad you made it there safely. We're almost home.

They'd decided to walk back instead of run, just enjoying nature and picking on each other silently, as gestalts were wont to do.

Ravyn grinned as her phone buzzed soon after she sent the text. At least they weren't the wait-an-hour-before-replying type. She checked the message and frowned, still not knowing which brother it was that she was talking to.

To: Raines #1
Almost home? And here I was, thinking you two were faster than that!

There. A little flirtatious quip.

Uriel scoffed as he read it, rolling his eyes though grinning. This time, Gabriel texted Ravyn, so she would've gotten the text from phone number 2 instead of 1.

To Ravyn: (From Raines #2)
Gentlemen move at the speed the most prefer at the time. We prefer to keep things... slow.

After all, she had called them gentlemen, so they would continue on with the title, at least for now. The double meaning behind their text was of course there for a reason, and they hoped it wasn't lost on her. Of course, if it was, they'd probably just laugh harder. Not at her.. just at the situation, of course.

Slow, eh? She could work with that. She was used to taking things quickly, but maybe this would be nice for a change. Apparently this was from the other brother.... Whom she still didn't know from the other. She bit her lip, thinking, before replying.

Slow can be nice. Gives you the chance to enjoy life, rather than rushing through it full-speed. I respect that, Gentlemen =)

At least she had finally thought of a nickname for them. And it fit perfectly.

Good, it hadn't been lost on her. They rose an eyebrow to each other as they arrived home, heading in and trying to avoid their ready-to-pop mother.

Uriel, being Raines #1, responded this time. Keeping her on her toes.

To Ravyn: (From Raines #1)
Nicknaming us as a joint unit, Little Birdie? Good choice. We're home by the by.

She almost seemed disappointed (via text) about the slow, but she seemed willing. Understanding. One of those 'we can work around it' type things, which was grand for them. Nothing would make the never-dated, never-been kissed Raines boys move faster than they wanted to.

They were on nearly completely nickname terms. Another good sign. But now they were trying to confuse her, sending texts from different phones... She wasn't going to go and just ask, though. No, she was going to try to figure out which was which simply by their texts. A hard game, but one she was determined to win.

Glad to hear you're home. Have any plans for the night? I should probably tackle my homework for the weekend...

She paused, wondering if that sounded too suggestive. She didn't mean that she wanted to do something with them - she had just seen them a little while ago. She just wondered... What they had planned for the night. She was interested to learn more about the secretive life of the Raines twins... She would find out now how willing they were to talk.

If it weren't for the mention of homework, the forever buzzkill, they would have assumed she was being suggestive. But the homework bit suggested that.. well, just that. She was just curious. Striking up more conversations. This time Gabriel responded.

To Ravyn: (from Rains #2)
Going out to some fancy dinner with friends of the family. Our parents and their parents totally want one of us to marry their daughter, haha.

They overassumed a little on how well Ravyn knew them then. Of course they'd never marry this girl. For one, they'd be synced - she'd have to marry both of them. Two, the boys had never had any interest in any girl ever other than being able to comment she was cute. They always found a fatal flaw, so to speak. Also, the 'haha' at the end translated into 'fat chance of that,' but all of these were things Ravyn wouldn't have known yet about the boys.

Marriage!? Hold up. Had she known them a little better, she would have realized how little this meant to them, but to her, the word sent a bolt of adrenaline through her. Was this girl prettier than her? Funnier? And they were having dinner with her? Suddenly, their afternoon of fun seemed much less intimate than she had felt only moments ago. She tried not to let her disappointment show in her response.

To: Raines #2
Fancy dinner, hmm? Sounds like fun. Hope their daughter can manage both of you guys!

Because after her talk with Dr. Neville, she knew whoever ended up with one of them would also end up with the other. Especially in the Raines brothers' case, since they couldn't be separated. She felt a small stirring of hope at the thought.

Gabriel responded to this one again, both boys laying on Uriel's bed, tired and wanting a nap before the crazy dinner. They were the pictures of perfect sons, but this girl.. well. She was as appealing as roadkill. About as active, too.

To Ravyn: (From Raines #2)
Ugh. The family is nice - our dad and her dad are close pals at work. But their daughter.. she's so boring. Imagine someone who sits there and does nothing. Eugh. She could never handle us.

Ooh, emoticons. Getting serious up in here. But it was true. The girl was a picture of a perfect child like they were.. except she snuck out at night. She invited them, once. But they weren't sure what she did, since all she normally did was sit and do nothing. No pranks. She didn't exercise or do anything active. She was the president of roughly eighty million clubs, straight A's, and she could've been high all the time for all the boys knew. Not their type at all. Sneaking out? Sure, once in a while. To weird parties? No.

Ravyn calmed down. She had overreacted.... Of course. She was pleased that they sounded so uninterested in this girl, but that also made her wonder what they thought of her. They were texting her though, weren't they? That had to mean something. Ughh. She thought too much.

Aww, that's too bad. It definitely would take a lot to handle two Gentlemen

Another emoticon. What the heck. They had given her one!
After a moment, she added:

And I'm just gonna take a wild guess.... Gabriel?

Gabriel looked mock-offended at how easily she'd guessed them, deciding to play with her head for a moment.

A certain Little Birdie seemed to be able to handle a certain number of Gentlemen earlier. And what?! How dare you confuse us!

Uriel rolled his eyes, whipping out his phone and shooting Ravyn a text to make her feel better.

Ignore him, he's just being a girl. You got it in one, congratulations! What would you like to claim as your prize? ;p

Ravyn laughed at the beginning of the reply. She had handled them, hadn't she? Not like it was TOO hard - as long as she kept from getting them confused with one another, she didn't think they were hard to manage at all. Not that she would tell them that. She winced at the last sentence though, preparing to apologize when her phone buzzed with a reply from the other brother. Oh, so.... she had been right? Oh, boys. What had she gotten herself into?

To: Raines #1
Ooh, I get a prize? Well, let's see... I was thinking about going rock climbing in a day or two, perhaps you two Gentlemen would like to accompany me? I could use a pair of strong, handsome men to make sure I don't fall and break my neck.

She had originally planned on going on her own, but in reality, it would probably be better if she brought someone along - she was going REAL rock climbing on a real mountain, not some dinky little rock climbing gym where everything was so easy and unnatural to climb.

The twins rose an eyebrow in tandem as they read about rock climbing, Gabriel scoffing and waving a hand.

To Ravyn: (from Gabriel)
Rock climbing. Climb something that moves instead! Like an elephant. Have you ever ridden an elephant?

Uriel rolled his eyes, quickly sending poor Ravyn another text. She was probably going to hit Gabriel for being such a nuisance. Not that Uriel didn't silently agree with his question - riding elephants was fun.

To Ravyn: (from Uriel)
Ignore him, really, the more attention you pay him the more outrageously outgoing he gets. And who knows, maybe we'll be busy. But right now, our schedules are free and clear. Guess we should pencil in 'saving bird's life,' shouldn't we..

Teasing, of course. She was a bird - if she fell, she could just flap out her wings and beat them to the top. But it was always better to have a partner, just in case.

Or two partners, in this case.

Climbing elephants? Sounded like fun! Only, she didn't really know of anybody that owned elephants nearby..... Too bad. She knew they were kidding, but she humored them anyway.

To: Uriel
I actually thought it was quite a good idea. Sadly, I'm short on friends that own elephants. Maybe some day we can take a roadtrip to the zoo? Anyway, if you have the time, I'm going at 10:00 am the day after tomorrow, at The Columns. I have some gear, although I think you can rent stuff there too. But of course, if you're busy, then I will see you at school!

Now it was their turn. She hoped they would show up, but she wouldn't be surprised if they didn't - they DID seem like they were quite a busy pair.
