Guess I’ll Go Eat Worms (Avinea)

Harmony had no friends.

Not that she would admit that it bothered her. But it did. Bumping into random students to the hallway long enough to say ‘Hi’ or getting into an argument was alright for entertainment. But Harmony was lonely. She didn’t have anyone to talk to. And it didn’t look like her uncle was going to be much a stable relationship. Not that she had counted much on a family member being much help. But still it sucked.

All this added up to cause Harmony to spend most of her time stomping around the school grounds and yelling at anyone who dared to speak to her.

Somewhere inside, she knew this wasn’t the right way to go about making friends, but it wasn’t enough to change how she acted. It only increased her frustration.

At the moment, Harmony was stomping around the training field, kicking up grass and leaving muddy footprints wherever she went. “Stupid, stupid, stupid,’ she mumbled to herself, as she kicked a rock into the air.

Seeing someone else in the area, Harmony scowled in her direction. "What's your problem?"

Avi was out for a run.

Right now running was really getting her mind off of things. That was all that she wanted right now and thankfully she was glad that she would be able to continue to run. She had fallen behind in many classes and was struggling to keep up. She was smart yes, but she needed to show up to classes to learn. At the rate she was going she was going to have to repeat a year. She really didn't want to but right now it was looking bleak.

She had in some Hot Chelle Rae to run to on her ipod. They were a good running band and were better then heavy metal when you needed to think.

She didn't do it often but Avi was tempted to just run without the music, let the wind carry her. That in itself was an odd thought. She was trying to get the wind to react. Maybe running would help?

She was just making her way around the field when she saw the little girl, and by her standards she was little. She wondered what she was so mad about, but she wasn't going to broach that topic unless it was presented.

Avi only raised an eyebrow as the younger girl started to take that tone with her. Smiling she unplugged her ipod and sat down on the grass taking a drink from her water bottle. "I don't know, what is yours?" Avi gave a grin before looking at the younger girl again. "I assume you were asking my problem because of some various reason that you have now made me the root of your problems, so what is your problem that i may remedy it?"

The girl running by hadn’t really done anything to annoy her. Well besides be in her presence when she was already in a bad mood. But that was no reason that Harmony had to be nice to her. She was in a bad mood. And the world was her punching bag.

The girl smiling and acting so…helpful only infuriated Harmony. For a moment, Harmony wanted nothing more than to physically wipe the grin on the other girl’s face. “You wanna know my problem?” she asked, walking closer to the girl and kick at the ground along the way. “My problem is all you goody-two-shoes, lame, mindless, idiots that run around this place! Always acting like just cuz I’m a freak that I’m just the same as you and you know all about me!”

She was less than a few feet away from the older guy now, glaring right into her face. “So please, remedy that for me. I suggest jumping off the roof!” she continued, her fist clenched at her side.

Avi was looking forward to what the girl could come up with in her explanation of why she hated the world. She brushed some of the sweat off of her brow as she drank some more water. It would be amusing and If Avi had any say Harmony would be leaving not so angry. Though, it might be a long haul.

Avi watched as Harmony came closer, almost kicking her as she got closer. That was ok, Avi wasn't afraid of a little dirt, it did some good you know, getting a bit dirty, it worked out pent up frustration and energy." Yes, Yes I do want to know what problem you think you have." Oh dear here was the name calling. This girl obviously hadn't had a friend here yet. Sighing she looked down then looked over to Harmony.

" Look, I don't know you, I don't know your power, I don't know your personality. All I know is that you are human. Meta human yes, but human! You aren't the same, no one is the same. Personally? I like your spunk." Avi gave a grin before turning towards the roof looking up at it. "I thought the same thing when I first came here.It was hella hard. Especially when everyone around you just tried to piss you off and make you mad!" Was she really supposed to be swearing in front of a shrimp? oh well.

Looking over to Harmony Avi offered her hand, grinning. " I'm Avinea. I can't fix your problem, only you can." Smirking she laid back and looked at the clouds. "I would bungee jump off the roof though...that could be fun!"

Harmony was all set to continue her name calling and yelling, but Avi caught her a little off guard. She was expecting another ‘it takes time to get settled’ or ‘hammel is so great’ speech. Instead she got…a complement.

“Well…I…,” Harmony said, the yelling starting to fade. She still wasn’t happy about the grin on the other girl’s face. Or her positive attitude. But she wasn’t sure what say to someone who was actually agreeing with her for once.

“Harmony,” she said, keeping her fist at her side and not shaking the other girl’s hand. Just because she couldn’t think of a way to keep yelling didn’t mean she was going to be best friends al the sudden. “Pushing some of the idiots in this school off the roof would be more fun.”

“What do you think of this place now?” Harmony asked, curious. She wasn’t ready to stop being mad, but Avi wasn’t all bad. Unless she was brainwashed like the rest of the students into thinking Hammel was a little slice of heaven.

Oh so she caught her off guard by actually talking to her? This shrimp was interesting. She reminded her of herself. She was probably getting bombarded with the normal pr speeches that the school gave. They were complete and utter bull to put it frankly.

There ya go, The girl was already calming down. It didn't take much, just someone not yelling at her, someone not losing their temper. This girl had a long way to go before she could make Avi break. She had a feeling the girl was more for arguing then talking.

"Harmony hmm?" Avi gave a grin looking the girl up and down. "Now what do you like to be called, For some reason I imagine Harmony is not it." Avi chuckled, looking her young one over. "Oh trust me, there are better ways to get back at a person."

"Well, I still think that it is unfair they keep us here, but I understand it is for our own safety." Avi looked over to the girl giving a small grin. "I need to learn to control my powers, that way i wont hurt those around me."

The scowl on Harmony’s face was starting to fade a little, although the rest of her body language said that she still wasn’t ready to smile and play nice. True, the Avi wasn’t being an annoyingly positive idiot like everyone else she’d run into at Hammel, but that didn’t mean she was going to get onto Harmony’s good side just yet.

Still, agreeing that her name sucked was a good way to start.

A flash of a grin went across Harmony’s face before she stuck out her tongue to show her distaste of her name as well. “Blame my stupid hippie mother for that wonderful idea,” she explained. As for a better name, Harmony had yet to settle on something that she liked better. She kicked at the ground again, her head hung. She hated to admit that she couldn’t come up with anything better than her mother had so she decided to ignore that Avi had asked.

“Yeah, like what?” she asked. She listened as the girl gave the usual speech about keeping everyone safe from a bunch of freaks. Harmony felt like that argument was useless, At least in her case. How would she hurt someone? Unless she landed on them when she teleported, she didn’t think there was anyway she could hurt anyone. Still she was interested in what Avi could do.

“You could hurt someone?” she asked, curious. “How so?”

Avi hoped the girl was starting to warm up to her, at least that was all she could do, hope. There was not much else that she could do! It was all a blur mostly what her younger years had been like. She remembered being tired of hearing the teachers say the same exact thing. Over and over. Really they had no creativity.

Hmm she would have to think of a nickname for the spunky one by her.

" Oh I know about weird names, MY older brother is named Kinas, and I'm named Avinea. Thus he got nick named Kinny. ONly by family though." Avi grinned sizing the girl up. "Hmm... what should a good nickname be..." Looking her over Avi grinned. "Spitfire, Kitsu, Instaflash?" She tilted her head. "Personally I like spitfire and Kitsu, kitsu means fox in japanese... your like a tiny young fox, full of pranking and spirit." She hoped that it wouldn't annoy the younger girl, she was trying to make conversation after all.

" OH the usual, water guns, water gallons filled with dye, shaving cream, sticky notes, Oh! one of my favorites, peanut butter in hair, and for guys, well fill their cars with the packaging pent things. I did that to Doctor N once.... detention was soooo worth it." Smirking she looked towards Harmony. "Does that answer your question, pranking is fun, as long as it doesn't psychically hurt someone." She had gotten quite a talking to after that.

Oh, how to answer this? " Well, when I first manifested, I caused a mini tornado in my house, all the windows were blown out, and my brother was and still is scarred from the glass. " Avi looked up at the shrimp. "I wouldn't want to hurt someone again.

At first Harmony was excited about the prospect of finding a suiting nickname, but that didn’t last long. She wasn’t about to let anyone else pick out her name. Her mother had already done a horrible job the first time, so she wanted something that she got to pick. Still none of the names that Avi listed were entirely worthless.
“I think I’ll pick my own name,” she said.

She listened carefully to her list of pranks, actually laughing at the idea of seeing some of them in action. Still there were a few people on her list that she’d love to just punch in the face. “I might have to try out a few of those,” Harmony continued, thinking how Angie would look with a gallon of green dye dumped over her head.

She still wasn’t sure how she felt about Avi. But at least she didn’t seem like a total looser. After all, how bad could she be if she thought detention was worth messing with Doctor Neville?

“Cool,” she said, wishing she her own manifestation had a story similar to that. And still the Avi seemed to have an issue with hurting people. Although admittedly Harmony wasn’t out to hurt anyone without good reason, she could still think of reasons when it was necessary. “But what if someone really made you mad? You could just suck them up in a tornado for a bit? I don’t see a problem with that.”

She thought her nicknames were good! Everyone had a nickname, and the girl was in desperate need of one. harmony just didn't fit. "So, let me know what to call you until then. Unless you want to be called Kit, which is what I'm leaning towards or 'Hey you!' " Avi grinned as she looked at the girl. "Were my nicknames that bad?"

"There is also water balloons and the good old chalk dust in the face." All were good pranks. All had hilarious fortunes that were done once the prank had been pulled. "Oh! put pink dye in an all whites load of laundry." That was by far her favorite. Really Harmony don't get her started. She might never stop.

Detention was TOTALLY worth it. Sometimes the good ole doc N was so so stuck up and stuffy. Really Avi was just doing a good thing, she was keeping him ready and alert for anything.

"eh, not so cool." It wasn't really to her. She was scared she hurt her brother! That wasn't good! "There are more ways then violence to get back at someone, Oh trust me I am an excellent grudge holder, but I don't want to hurt anyone." She was asking the problem? " Well what if i sucked you up into a tornado? Wouldn't your family be worried? Your friends? I know I would be worried!" She grinned. "Every action has a consequence." Even if she wanted to suck someone up into a tornado she couldn't. Her power wasn't that strong.

On a normal day, Harmony would have started shouting at this point. How dare the anyone try and pick out her nickname. But Avi was one of the first people she’d met at Hammel who didn’t act like they were totally brainwashed. “Not bad,’ Harmony said, managing to keep the scowl off of her face. “It’s just I kinda wanna pick my own name.”

Harmony continued to grin at Avi’s growing list of prank ideas. She couldn’t help but picture the look on her fellow student’s faces once she got a chance to try some of them out.

“Have you ever thought about getting him again?” she asked, hopefully. Normally, Harmony might have been a little more hesitant about pranking a teacher of staff member, but Dr. Neville was a special exception.

“My family couldn’t care less,” she said grumbling. “They’d probably said it built character.” Although it probably wasn’t true, Harmony felt better feeling that her dislike towards her family was shared from them as well. Having people care about her was way too much trouble.

Well at least she got a not bad out of the girl. Grinning Avi looked her over. "Well just let me know ok H?" That was what she was going to be called for now. It would work just fine and Harmony would know she as talking to her. "If you ever want any help just let me know!"

So she had peaked the girl's interest! That was good at least. Some of this pranks had been fun to pull and the outcomes? Hilarious! She didn't regret any of them as none of them hurt anyone else.

" OH?" Avi asked with one eyebrow raised. She liked the thought of that and the look on the girl's face. "What exactly did you have in mind?" She was genuinely interested. Besides, Doctor N wouldn't punish them too bad, detention most likely, but that was all good. Detention could be fun!

" Even if that is true, which I doubt, I would care." Because she would. She would feel guilty about it, most definitely. Besides, there were other ways to get back at someone then sucking them up in a mini tornado. That could and would cause serious energy.

“I will,” Harmony said, although she doubted she would ever ask Avi for her help. Seeking help wasn’t exactly the girl’s favorite activity. Besides, she was sure she could come up with something way cooler than anyone else could.

Harmony continued to grin at the older girl’s response. Finally she had found someone who wouldn’t wimp out at the idea of having a little fun. And it seemed like Avi had some experience as well. “I dunno,” Harmony said, although she was trying hard to think of something. “But it’s gotta be cool. Something no one else would dare to try, or think of.” She looked up hopefully at Avi.

“Whatever,” Harmony said. She didn’t care if this girl cared or not, but she was starting to wish she would stop pretending or whatever. After all, they had other things to plan discuss now.

"Good." As long as the girl knew she had someone to go to that was all that Avi was asking/telling. It was the end of the matter to her at all. For her she was glad she was able to help. Even if Harmony didn't like it.

Nodding Avi grinned as the younger girl looked schemingly at her. oh yes she knew that look well. She had worn that look well. Most likely much before Harmony had even come into the world. She had bee pranking since she was little and there was nothing she could or would do to stop. It was just too much fun. "What are you thinking anyway?"

Frowning she shook her head. "Excuse you, you can't tell me how or how not I feel." Laughing she had the urge to ruffle the girl's hair. "So lets get discussing then." Smiling she sat up more to discuss a prank with an underclassman. What a good role model she was.

If anyone had walked by as the two girls grinned at each other, they might have just thought there were two students who really enjoyed each other's company. It might have been a perfect picture for a Hammel pamplet for recruiters. But anyone who knew Harmony or Avi at all might have felt worried.

Harmony just felt glad that at least not all of Hammel's student body was lame-o idiots who were too worried about getting boys to like them or teachers to give them good grades.

"He has a car, right?" Harmony asked the older girl. She had a feeling that getting into the doctor's office would be a problem. Her teleportation skills weren't that great yet and she wasn't sure she could get inside sucessfully. Besides there were so many possibilities when a car was involved.

And with Avi to help her...perhaps the possibilites were endless.
