Just popcorn and a movie? (Noah)

Mia sighed as she looked at the clock on her nightstand and then looked at Spike, who was in his tank that was set up on her dresser. “Movie night… Noah is supposed to come over.” Why did she feel nervous? She shrugged the feeling off as she started placing some extra blankets on the floor of her room, at the end of her bed along with pillows for them to sit on. She wasn’t comfortable with Noah being on her bed and she really wasn’t sure why she just was; she was just paranoid. Half of her figured they would be comfortable on the floor anyways, okay maybe not but it gave her the excuse to sit really close to Noah.

Mia figured it would be better watching the movie in her room instead of in the common area, she didn’t want to disturb Kouji or David. And of course it had to be her room since girls weren’t allowed in the all boys dorms; though she didn’t think that would have stopped her. Mia wasn’t much for following the rules that got in her way. She placed a blanket on the floor; this one was zebra printed and for them to use, the question was should she have two blankets, the cheetah one and the zebra one or just one blanket. One would mean they would have to share, and that felt like this would be more of a date than just a movie and popcorn. So Mia threw the other one on to the floor; two blankets, they each got one. Maybe she was thinking about this too much? Oh well, somewhat too late not to.

Mia heard someone knock on the door and she went to go answer it. She was in her pjs, she figured might as well be comfortable and with that her hair was wet. She had just taken a shower not that long ago. She opened the door and smiled at the person in front of her “Hey! Did you bring the popcorn?”

She opened the door to Noah waving at her with one hand, and a box in the other. The box? Well, it carried several bags of microwave popcorn. Since each room had one of those, he figured it would be better if he cooked it there rather than cooking at at once and just letting it get cold. His smile was wide; wide enough that his teeth were showing because he was very excited for this to happen. Movie nights were always awesome. He was wearing black and white striped pajama pants and a form fitting T shirt. PJ's yay!

"Good evening, I'm here for a movie night, and yes I certainly did." Noah replied, stepping past her and making his way into the common area. He went straight for the kitchen area, because that was where he needed to be. He opened the box and threw one of the bags into the microwave, turning it on for juuust the right amount of time. "So what movies did you pick? Or is it a surprise?" He asked as he leaned on the counter.

Mia couldn’t help but notice her pjs were really dorky; she hadn’t thought about it when she had put them on. Oh well, it would be awkward to change, besides who didn’t like dinosaurs? She had to admit that she hadn’t expected this to actually happen, it had nothing to do with Noah; it was just that she was a pessimist, it was how her mind worked. Mia moved out of the way to let Noah by; she was smiling just as much as she was. It had been so long since she had movie night with a friend. “Well if you’re here for movie night then you came to the right dorm!” Then again of course he did, even if he didn’t know her dorm number all he had to do was ask someone ‘hey do you know what dorm the pink haired girl is in?’ no one seemed to miss her. "You know, unless you had plans with someone else?"

Mia closed the door and followed Noah to the kitchen area. She winced slightly at all the noise the microwave was making; she didn’t want to bother her roommates. She ran a hand through her pink wet hair “I picked pirates of the Caribbean! Or lord of the rings… Which one do you want to watch?” Yes, she was a huge dork; no one really thought she was and she was so close to also picking harry potter but decided not to. “Surprise? I do like surprises but considering I couldn’t chose between the two movies you get to!” Mia hoped Noah wasn’t afraid of snakes, she guessed she should have asked before hand, oh well never too late to ask; okay maybe it kind of was. “You wouldn’t happen to be afraid of reptiles would you?” Yes, she was being as vague as she could.

"No other plans," Noah replied with a grin, "You're my only movie night buddy." Somehow he wondered if that made it sound all the more special. Maybe it did. Or maybe she just needed a little reassurance. Either way, he was glad to oblige to the question with casual ease. After all they'd never said if this was a date-type thing or not. They were just going to see how it went.

Ohh, her choices were both so good! He had to think about it for a second or so, as he turned his eyes to look at the microwave to see how things were going. The popcorn was popping like crazy now. This was a good sign. "Somehow I can't turn down lord of the Rings." He admitted, laughing at his own statement afterwards. He really was some kind of dork, huh.

"Not afraid." Noah replied, a little confused by the question but he was willing to go with it. You never knew what you were going to get when you hung out with Mia, so it was best to just be open to everything. "Why do you ask?"

Mia couldn’t help but grin as Noah reassured her he had no other plans. “Am I really?” She scratched the back of her head a bit; she figured he would have had tons of friends to watch movies with at night. Yes, they had made a deal to just see how it went and she was fine with that; it made things easier. At least for her it did.

“Awesome! Because I was also leaning more toward Lord of the Rings…” She loved Johnny Depp, but Lord of the Rings was more thrilling to watch. They could always have another movie night and watch Pirates than, interesting thought and one she would look forward to planning. Noah didn’t need to mind about being a dork because Mia was a huge dork; she just didn’t actively show it; and he would find that out once he saw her lion king stuff animal collection.

“Oh good! I guess I should have asked that earlier, sorry.” Mia was full of surprises, some good and some not so good but either way it was never a dull moment with the girl. “You’ll see soon enough..” Now she had a surprise for him but by now he should figure out that she had a pet reptile. Mia looked at the microwave "Oh i guess you will need a bowl huh?" She bit the bottom of her lip, trying to think if they had any bowls.

"I like elves. Don't know why, but I've already thought they were weirdly interesting." Noah admitted. That was one of the main reasons why he liked the set of movies so much. "I mean, pirates are cool and they have swords and that's fine, but elves have bows and they are hard to shoot." So in a way he commended them for their training efforts. Y'know, if they were real. Sometimes it was more fun to talk like they were.

Noah shook his head with a clear smirk on his face. "The beauty of these bad boys is that you don't need a bowl. They are their own bowl," He looked over to her and laughed, "You'd know that if you ever got to actually try it. But you said yourself, you're a colossal food-burner." The microwave made its trademark ding sound and Noah opened it up, retrieving the hot bag. He split it open and steam poured out. He then held it out to her.

"See? Perfect."

Mia chuckled; she actually had someone to be a dork with. “You probably like them because they’re hot” She grinned; she found it weird that only the elves were pretty; at least to her. “Elves are just fascinating, they are so.. eloquent but at the same time pretty badass, they have amazing agility.” If she could be a fantasy race she would pick elf. “I just like how they use bows, I mean how hard do you think it is to use one of those? I mean I have a pretty crappy aim to begin with so I won’t be any good at it…” She was already having fun, and the movie hadn’t even started. Though Mia had no problem, talking as if elves were a real thing, who knows maybe they were on another planet or in another galaxy.

Mia gave him a pouty face “Well good because I don’t think we have a large enough bowl..” She figured the bag would be fine as long as they both didn’t try to get popcorn at the same time. “Hey! I have tried making popcorn before! But I burnt it… and believe me when I say the smell is awful and overwhelming…” She stuck her tongue out; give her the chance and she probably would be able to burn water. Mia gave him another pouty face “Your mocking me with your perfect cooking skills.” She said in a light voice, to show she wasn’t serious about him mocking her.

“I guess I have to show you my room now huh?” She moved to walk into the ‘living room’ area and turned back to look at Noah to see if he was following.

"Oh yeah, agility! When they show them running through the forests and all that, it looks awesome. How they jump and glide over fallen trees? If elves were ever real, I think I'd want to be one." Noah explained. He knew how lame it would have sounded to anyone else, but for some reason he was sure she would appreciate his boyish honesty. "Plus in some stories they live for hundreds of years. Imagine how much you'd learn if you had that long." It was both a good and bad concept.

Noah couldn't help but laugh when she talked about burning popcorn. "Tell me about it. When I lived at home my younger brother always wanted to be the one to cook the popcorn. And of course he actually listens to the packet and burns it." He explained, pushing off the counter, "The trick is to leave it for three minutes. Or three and a half. But not two and not four. The packets lie." He nodded, following along as she lead him to her room.

“Yes! I so want their agility.. It would have so helped me when I had been doing gymnastics..” Mia didn’t mean to sound like she was boasting, she really didn’t even mean to bring it up. “Those shots are pretty freaking impressive though. Do you think they use stunt doubles for them?” Yes, she had gotten back into the reality of it all. She did very much appreciate it; she had someone to be dorky with of course she loved it. “Ick.. I wouldn’t want to live that long…” She had a lot of thoughts on how long she should actually live, a lot of the times weren’t positive. “I already know so much now.. Living for hundreds of years would feel boring.. You know unless you were a time lord but then you have the ability to travel through time so..”

Mia chuckled “yeah my younger brother also burned a bag of popcorn but then again he was four… And I kind of helped him…” Her heart ached at the memory but still managed a sheepish smile. “I would like to meet your brother, we would have our lack of cooking skills in common..” She grinned “See I was intending to leave it on till it completely stopped popping, but that was apparently a bad idea..” She guess she wasn’t as smart as she thought she was.

Mia stepped into her room and moved to let Noah in, closing the door behind him. She wasn’t sure if they would be getting into a popcorn or something so she didn’t want to disturb her roommates if they got too loud. “Welcome to my room!” She looked around, her bed near the wall in the middle, the keyboard her uncle got her right next to her bed, her lion king plushie collection in a random corner of her room, and last but not least her baby, in his tank on her dresser.

"Maybe if I had good people to spend the life time with, I wouldn't mind as much." Noah offered. Good friends, not just someone in terms of a relationship. "It would be like the life we have now, except doubled or tripled. But then again, maybe you're right. That does sound like a long time to hang around in one place." Oh, he could go on for hours about how much elves had to do with their lives, but he figured he should stop. At least for a while.

Noah shrugged at the thought of his own brother. "Josh is an awesome kid. He's only nine so it was hard to have to leave home and move out here, but I talk to him every chance I get. Can't help but miss him, I guess." In truth, Noah loved being an older brother. It was one of the best things about his life.

He followed along and walked into her room, looking back when she closed her door. He smiled brightly when she welcomed him. People's rooms were so interesting; a real indicator to the kind of person they were. A keyboard was an awesome thing to notice. At first he walked over to the corner where the plushies were, picking out a baby Simba from the pack and indicating to it. "Nice choice. Do you reenact scenes when you're bored?" He wasn't really teasing, but he definitely thought it was cute.

Then he saw the snake.

"Hey, now that's awesome." Noah placed the plushie down and walked over. "Y'know, I've never had a pet before. But this is a pretty cool choice for a pet."

“I guess you’re right, but I find it hard to come by good people…” Mia looked at the ground, “I guess I do have my Uncle, he’s great.” In a way, Liam was all she really had and she felt he was all she was ever going to have. His first statement stuck in her head, if it was the life she would have now just way longer she didn’t want it. Too much pain and sorrow for her. Mia just shrugged “Hey You make a good point though, nothings better than living your whole life with the people you love.” Though at this point in time there was only one person in her life she loved and loved her back.

Mia smiled warmly at Noah talking about his brother. It made her heart ache, but she still listened and was still happy that Noah had a great brother. “Yeah, I miss my brothers too. It’s great you still talk to him, I send letters to my family often.” She greatly missed her brothers and was envious of Noah that he was still able to talk to his. But she didn’t let it show.

Mia leaned against the door, watching Noah look over her room with a broad smile. Mia chuckled “Yeah, I actually do… I’m such a dork…” Whether he was teasing or not, she didn’t care but she actually did reenact the scenes, it was a nice pass time. “Though I do the first scene where Rafiki holds up baby Simba with my snake.”

Everyone seemed to love Spike, but he couldn’t help it, he was just too darn cute. Mia walked over to stand by Noah “He is pretty awesome isn’t he? He’s a baby corn snake. Most of all he’s my baby…” she frowned slightly “You’ve never had a pet? Shesh Your missing out..”

"My room is a mess." Noah replied, laughing at the thought. "I mean, compared to this it is. I usually don't mind but if I know someone's coming over I try to clean up. But hey, I worked hard to collect enough posters to practically cover all my wall space." It was true. It kind of made his room very typically boyish, but he didn't care. If he had his way he would line the walls with guitars instead. But that wasn't meant to be.

"Yeah, my parents just weren't too into the idea of a pet. I always thought that since I live away I should look at getting something, but I have no idea what I'd like." He mused. Maybe he'd have to ask people what animal would suit him for a pet.

Mia went and put the lord of the rings CD in the CD player and turned on the TV as she listened to Noah talk about his room. She laughed a little. “Most of the stuff that would make my room messy is in boxes under my bed…” Notebooks, books, papers, and other general stuff was shoved into boxes and put under her bed; except her collection of lion king stuff animals. “I was thinking about putting posters up… But I can’t seem to find ones I really like, ones I would want to see almost all the time..” Yeah, she was picky. “I would like to see your room, as it is. You know, without you cleaning it..”

“Ah I see, yeah we had dogs and snakes… I can help you with that? I guess I mean we could take a trip to the local pet store and look around for your future pet; see what catches your eye and what not.” Mia walked back over to Noah “want to hold him?”

"Well, since I've seen your room I figure that's fair. You'll have to come by some day." Noah replied. It was true, it was always better to see someone's room as it was as opposed to it being cleaned perfectly. Because that almost made it look like he was trying to hide something. Or that it was fake. Both were bad things.

"Yeah, I'd like that." Noah replied. He couldn't guarantee that he'd find something he liked, but it could still be fun. He looked back over at the snake and tilted his head slightly. It really did look awesome. "Uhh, yeah. Is it safe for strangers to do that?" He knew that sometimes animals didn't like strangers, but he held his arm out regardless.

“Awesome! Can’t wait to see the posters, Maybe it would give me an idea of what to put on my walls.” Mia noted the fact that Noah didn’t care much about the dorm policy about girl not being able to go into the all boys dorms. Mia had a lot to hide, and maybe that’s why she kept everything in boxes; but it also kept her room clean so perfect excuse.

“Awesome! I love going to the pet store to see the animals, but it also kind of makes me sad…” It was sad knowing all of those animals didn’t have anyone to love them. Mia grinned “Aww look at you caring about something like that. It’s safe, well unless he bites you that is… But he doesn’t bite so yeah!” Mia reached into the tank taking Spike out and then taking one of Noah’s hands and letting the snake find his own way onto the boy’s hand. “His name’s Spike. He will most likely just wrap himself around your fingers and sit there… He’s a very chilled little baby Snake.”
