Just popcorn and a movie? (Noah)

Noah watched her reach into the tank with ease and retrieve her pet snake. It really was an amazing thing to see, because she was just so comfortable about the whole thing. A lot of girls would have freaked out if someone asked them to touch a snake, let alone own one as a pet. Just another thing about Mia that was special, Noah supposed. She continued to surprise him.

He felt her touch his hand, and realised it was probably the first time he'd ever felt her skin. At least, it was the first time he'd really registered it. Her hands were soft. Why did he realise that? He looked up at her for a second before watching the snake again. It was a funny feeling when it finally connected with his hand. "That is so cool." Noah replied, realising after a second or so that he was still holding onto her hand.

"Sorry." He replied, meeting her eyes as he finally let go. Then he was engulfed in watching the snake curl around his hand.

Mia had grown up around snakes, her dad had owned one and so did her brother. Spike had an interesting story behind him, and if anything happened to him she didn’t know how she would be able to take it. All in all, Mia was full of surprises, and they were more to come the more Noah stuck around.

Mia’s heart rate increased when Noah looked at her for the brief second. She let out a slow quiet breathe. Now that she thought about it, this was the first time it seemed like they really made skin contact, even if it was just as simple as touching his hand. It made her skin all tingly. “Isn’t it? I love my baby.. I wouldn’t ask for any other pet.” Spike was the world to her, and if that didn’t connect to anyone than they were blind.

Mia bit her bottom lip as he apologized and looked at her, his eyes were gorgeous, “it’s fine.” She rubbed her hands together. “You can hold him for awhile why we watch the movie? If you want to that is.”

Noah shook his head from side to side gently as she responded to his apology. "I was just... Yeah." He laughed nervously, his free hand raising up to rub the back of his neck. He looked down finally to where she'd put out blankets and pillows. See, that was another thing that he didn't expect. She was really into this idea, and it was going to be awesome.

"Do you mind? It's kinda awesome." He said, indicating to the snake again before moving to sit down on one side. "Do you ever get used to the way he slides on your skin and stuff?" He asked, raising his hands together so the snake could travel if he wanted.

Mia blushed a little and smiled; she was just going to shrug this off. “It’s really fine.” Mia shook her head a little still smiling. She followed his gaze to the blankets and pillows “Figured it would me more comfortable…” Yeah, she was really into this idea and excited, she had movie nights often with her roommates but this felt different. A good different.

Mia chuckled and shook her head “Nope, just make sure he doesn’t slither away..” She didn’t want to lose Spike, but she trusted Noah. Mia moved to sit next to Noah. She laughed a little “ Yeah you get used to it.. Like on some parts others it feels weird, like when he’s moving around my arms it’s fine I’m used to it but like when he slithers down or up my shirt it feels really weird… It’s kind of like, when you first burn yourself when cooking and it really hurts but if you keep burning yourself you just kind of get used to it and it doesn’t hurt as much..” She smiled awkwardly at herself and looked at the ground; she had been rambling. “Sorry..”

Mia looked at the TV, “want to start the movie now?” She looked at Noah and bit her bottom lip.

"No no, I get it." Noah replied, starting to laugh a little at how much the snake was tickling his skin. He was following along with his eyes, bringing his arms to that level so he could just watch for a bit. "Pets, right? They're something in life that's gonna love you unconditionally. That's a pretty cool thing to think about." It was one of the reasons why he wished he had one, but he was never sure what to get. "Can't be alone when you've got this guy." He grinned.

"Yeah sure, sounds good." He probably needed to stop playing with the snake, otherwise he wouldn't end up watching any of the movie. Which would either be hilarious or just really distracting.

Mia smiled and nodded a bit. “Yeah, unconditionally…” She looked at the ground, unconditional love, it was something everyone needed and something she needed. She looked at Noah and smiled “We so need to find you a pet.. You’re so into the whole animal thing.” She was glad that someone got it, Spike wasn’t just a ‘cool’ pet to have, snakes were just pets to have to look at and impress people with; a lot of people forgot that and it wasn’t just with snakes. Mia felt like if Spike was a human he would be her child, she loved the snake that much.

Mia smiled; she thought it was cute how he was so into the snake. She didn’t mind it either, she got the whole feeling, it was like being around a cat they were so cute a furry you just wanted to keep petting it. “Alright.” She pressed the play button on the remote, glancing at Noah with a shake of her head. She ate some popcorn as she started watching the movie, glancing over at Noah’s hand that held Spike here and there.

It was barely ten minutes into the movie when Noah was still completely distracted by the snake. Really, he'd never seen one this close before. So to be holding one was something he really never thought he'd ever do. He was just watching him move from one hand to the other, up his arm and back down again. The occasional small touch of laughter fell from his lips. But it was at about ten minutes in when he finally realised.

"Woah." He said, looking up at the screen. "I'm so sorry, I swear I've been listening." He laughed at himself and looked over at her, hoping she wasn't angry or anything like that. "I should put him back in his tank I think. I want to spend time with you." Noah smiled, standing up and moving towards the tank so he could tentatively put the snake back.

Mia laughed a little as apologized “No, you haven’t. But it’s totally fine. You don’t need to apologize.“ She smiled at him to show she really wasn’t angry. She got how distracted Spike can be, she was like that when she was holding him, who knew a snake would be a party crasher. “It’s a good thing you’ve already seen this movie.”

Mia smiled and looked at the ground “okay.” She thought it was cute how Noah had gotten distracted by watching the snake. She knew people got distracted by holding snakes but never for that long, well except her; she could watch him for hours. “Don’t forget to put the lid back on.” She watched him as he put the snake back in his tank, she didn’t want the little guy finding his way out of his tank, that would just be a mess.

Noah turned back when she mentioned checking that the lid was on. He pressed his hands to it on either side just to double check that it was on right. "Totally sealed." He replied with a grin, turning back towards her. "How weird would it be if he got out? Has that ever happened? How would you find him..." He could go anywhere if he had a chance, Noah bet.

He returned to his seat and sat down, leaning against the pillows for comfort as he continued to watch the movie. He was a pro; a pro at being a little lame. Every so often his mouth would move to the rhythm of what people were saying. Yeah, he'd seen this way too many times.

Mia smiled “awesome!” she but her bottom lip thinking of Noah’s questions. “It’s not weird actually, it happens quite often, not with me but in general. Like most snake tanks, aren’t really snake proof; which I know is really stupid. But they are working on it. Anyways, first time snake owners don’t do enough research to be prepared for things. Snakes are stronger than people think so they can get out of tanks easier than we think. But Spike is totally fine in that tank.” Mia sighed “If he got out here I wouldn’t be able to find him considering the crack under the door.” She pointed to the door; if her snake did manage to get out she would end up crying for hours. "Sorry I kind of rambled again.."

Mia looked at Noah, seeing him mouth the words with the movie. She couldn’t help but stare as she tilted her head. Had he really seen the movie as much as she had? She pretty much watched the movies when she had nothing else to do and she remembered things easily. It might have been lame, but Mia found it cute; then again she seemed to find all his dorky little quirks cute.

Noah turned his head and watched her while she was talking about it. Again she got caught up in her own little world, but that was something he liked about her. "Don't worry about it, seriously." He replied, smiling in her direction, "I think your ramblings are cute." If nothing else, it showed a lot of passion.

It was a little while before he realised that she was looking and watching him. His teeth sunk down into his bottom lip to stop himself and he offered a shrug. "Can't help it."

More time had passed before he realised that he had been slowly sinking down from a sitting position to kind of laying down instead. The pillows were comfortable and so were the blankets. He was still picking pieces out of the slightly warm popcorn idly. Noah threw a piece up and turned his head, catching it in his mouth almost perfectly. He looked over at her and grinned. Maybe she was impressed?

Mia couldn’t help it, it was like a reflex. She talked a lot and with certain subjects she could just go on and on about it. She knew a lot of people thought it was annoying which was why she kept apologizing for it. She smiled at the ground was he said it was cute and blushed. “I think you’re the only one who thinks it’s cute..”

Mia nudged him slightly with her shoulder “Don’t worry about it. I think it’s cute.” She giggled at little “Besides it shows you’ve watched it as much as I have which makes me feel better about it.” Everyone else would have laughed at her for watching the movie so much, but she knew it was different with Noah and she liked it.

As the time passed Mia found herself laying down on her side, cuddling one of the extra pillows. Mia watched Noah as he caught the piece of popcorn in his mouth and grinned, she was impressed “Wow, How long did it take you to be able to do that?” She couldn’t do it, she had tried a couple times and them just gave up. She would be even more impressed if he hadn’t even practiced doing it.

Noah shrugged at her question. "I think it's just something you can either do or you can't," He explained, and laughed about it slightly, "Though I totally think that was a lucky shot." Trust him to get it right in front of another person, though usually it went the other way. He could perfect something and then have it mess up in front of other people. That was sort of how things just worked.

"Why don't you try it?" He asked, grinning. It might be funny to watch her try. He knew that if he tried it would probably fail the second time. And the third. And knowing his luck? So on and so forth.

Mia nodded “I see. Well I can’t do it.. I think it has something to do with my poor aim ability..” She didn’t have a great aim, it was something she needed to work on. When she was younger she had a great aim, now she just didn’t know where it had went. “I don’t believe in luck..” She stated, it was a fact; she just didn’t believe in it. She poked his cheek teasingly; completely forgetting about the movie. Her attention was now on him.

“oh gosh.. I’ve tried before and I could never do it.” She sighed “But I’ll try. Just for you.” She wasn't too keen on making a foul of herself in front of Noah but he didn’t seem like the type who would laugh at her. She moved to laying on her back and then sat up some, leaning on her elbow. She took a piece of popcorn, sighed and threw it slightly in the air and tried to catch it in her mouth but failed. It landed in her hair “See told you, totally can’t do it.” She said as she searched for the popcorn and then threw it at Noah.

"Talking about luck is just an easy way to lower your expectations for my possible future failure." Noah explained. He said it a lot, and that was more than likely the reason he had said it then. Noah instinctively twitched his face when she poked him. Not in a bad way or anything like that, it was really just a knee-jerk reaction. She was getting more comfortable around him, and he liked that.

He watched with a little excitement when she said she'd at least try. He felt it build when she went to throw it and...! It landed in her hair. His mouth pulled into a wide smile as he listened along and watched her try and search for it. Noah laughed as he searched for it as she'd thrown it back at him. Instinctively when he found it, he popped it in his mouth. "Trying is half the fun though!" He replied, digging his hand into the bag and finding another piece.

"Here. Let me help you." Noah said, sitting up with the popcorn in hand. As soon as she opened her mouth, he tried his absolute best to aim right and help her catch it.
