Sleep Over! (Hinata)

Dani stumbled into her room, arms full of various items. It was going to be a fun night, and fun nights meant lots of snacks had to be involved. “Tadaima!” Dani grinned, closing the door with her foot as she walked over towards Hinata. She had only gone into the common area to where she had a cabinet of stuff, but she still felt the need to announce her return simply because she could. She unloaded her goodies onto a low table, revealing what she had. “I was craving a bunch of different things…” she confessed, “And my grandfather just sent me a package the other day, so I have some good stuff! It’s so hard to get real Japanese food around here.” She had gotten pocky, Kasugai kiwi gummies, a couple bottles of Calpis, popcorn, various dried fruits, an assortment of veggies, and dried squid. She always enjoyed eating with Hinata because she also enjoyed Japanese food (most people found it weird as soon as she pulled out the squid…), but she also enjoyed the fact that they didn’t have to eat just Japanese food.

It wasn’t very late, but Dani was already in her pajamas, wearing a pair of striped pajama shorts and a tank top. “Alright, so now we have snacks, but now what do you want to do?” Dani said, plopping down next to Hinata and resting her chin on the other’s shoulder. Dani considered Hina to be her best friend, so she typically was very affectionate towards her, even though it would be considered odd to most people who knew that they were actually exes. “We could watch a movie, play a game, or just chat! Whatever you want.”

Hinata sat on Dani’s bed waiting for the girl to come back. The girl had went to go get snacks. Hina sat taking pictures of the room, nothing had just much since she was in here last; but taking pictures was her passion. She would most likely be taking pictures the whole night; she liked documenting events. She wanted to become a part of the school’s yearbook people but she was too shy to sign up. Hinata didn’t hesitate to take a picture of Dani as she walked back into the room with a bunch of snacks; she looked at the picture and giggled. This was defiantly going into a scrapbook. “Oh! Really? That’s awesome. My grandmother sends me stuff from time to time too.” She also sent her Japanese ingredients to make different Japanese dishes. “Oh! I made onigiri too. Panda ones.” She took out the container from her bag and opened it to show the girl the small panda shaped rice balls. Hina did quite enjoy the different American dishes and enjoyed eating almost everything that culture had to give her. But she was grateful to have someone to share her culture with.

Hinata was also in her PJs, she was wearing pink hello kitty pajama pants and a hot pink tank top to match. Hinata picked up the pocky, opened the package and took a bite out of it as she thought about what they would do now. She smiled at her best friend as Dani rested her chin on her shoulder. They both were very affectionate when it came to each other and Hina liked it that way. They had been best friends before they had gotten together and she was glad that hadn’t changed at all when they became exes. “Oh hmm lets chat! Have you met any new people lately?” When they had hung out with each other they usually had fun and did stuff and never really chatted.

When Dani saw the camera pointed in her direction, she gave a cheesy grin. Hina was so cute with her photography. “Onigiri?” The teen’s eyes lit up. “I love you so much. So much.” Dani absolutely loved Hinata’s cooking, it was delicious and the other also made it very cute as well. She grabbed one and held it carefully in her hands. “It’s almost too cute to eat!” She laughed, “But only almost. Itadakimasu!” She then promptly took a bite. “Delicious! You’re going to make a girl very, very happy someday.” Dani truly believed it too, she thought that Hinata was absolutely wonderful. The ability to make cute and delicious food was just a bonus.

Dani grabbed a bottle of Calpis and took a sip as Hina asked if she met any new people. She couldn’t hide the goofy grin that started to take over her lips. “Welllllll… There is this one girl that I met…” She knew she couldn’t hide it forever, and she always told Hina about these sorts of things anyway. “She’s really cute. I work with her.” And she was her boss. And seven years her senior. Dani knew that Hina could read her mind, but she still didn’t say it aloud. Not that she didn’t want Hinata to know; it was just best to not say some things out loud. “But nothing is going on or anything.” But she sure wished something was. Oh darn her thoughts. “Ah, sorry!” Dani let out a laugh, shaking the thoughts from her mind. “What about you? Meet anyone cool?”

Hinata grinned when the girl light up from hearing she cooked onigiri. “Love you too.” She said and she put up her index finger and middle finger in a ‘peace’ sign. She picked up one of the panda’s and looked at it, “they are cute, but if we don’t eat them they will go bad..” She blushed a little “Aren’t I already making one happy?” Yes, she was talking about the girl in front of her but she was only teasing her a bit. She knew what Dani had really meant by the statement but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a little fun with it.

Hinata took a bottle of Calpis also and took a sip, drinking it the same time the girl did. She giggled at being a copycat. Her eyebrow raised when she mention a girl. “Oh? A girl?” She couldn’t help but smile a little at Dani, she still had feelings for the girl but she figured they would always be there. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t be happy for her bestie. “She’s your boss?” She was a little taken aback by that news, and even more shocked to know she was only seven years older than Dani. She didn’t think anyone that young would be a boss of a store. She tilted her head at the new thoughts that came to Dani’s mind and she instantly turned off her power after that.

No, Hinata did not mind knowing Dani was interested in other people, it was one of the reasons why they stopped being a couple. But that didn’t mean she wanted images or thoughts of it. “Ah, no it’s fine. You have a right to your thoughts!” Dani also had a right to think of them. Hinata had to think for a bit “Oh, I met this cool girl at the retreat… She was nice; she let me take pictures of her.” No one else had came to mind, she wasn’t as outgoing as Dani so she didn’t make as many friends or meet many people.

Dani raised her eyebrows at Hinata, knowing she was teasing, but figured she’d go along with it. “Of course you are!” She wrapped her arms around the other and planted a kiss on her cheek. “You’re the bestest house-wife I’ve ever had!” Dani on occasion liked to call Hina her house-wife as a joke. Then again, she also had stereotypical house-wife qualities herself – she was very tidy. Everything in her dorm was organized to the point where one might accuse her to have OCD.

She quickly changed the subject over to the girl that Hina had met. She was curious, after all. Dani did still have feelings for her best friend, but it was the only thing she was good at hiding from Hinata. It was hard to hide anything from a telepath. Deep down, Dani was sure that Hina still knew, because although she tried her best to not think of the other like that when around her, thoughts sometimes slipped before being pushed away. “Oh, who is she?” Dani inquired, giving a teasing grin. “And how did you meet? Do I have to give her the talk? I have an application she'll need to fill out!” Of course, Dani would never give anyone ‘the talk’, but she could at least threaten to jokingly. It was all in good fun.

Hinata smiled brightly, she liked it when Dani went with her teasing, it meant she hadn’t made anything awkward. Hina returned the kiss, by kissing Dani on her cheek also. “Ah you really think so?” She blushed a little, compliments, it wasn’t something she was used to. Though you would think she was used to them coming from Dani but she wasn’t. Yes she saw Dani calling her the best house-wife a compliment.

Hinata tried really hard to let Dani have her privacy with her thoughts, but she was still working on turning it off and on and some things slipped by. But Dani still having feelings for her weren’t some of those things; sure Hina still knew Dani loved her, but she figured it was in a ‘friendly’ way. Hinata instantly blushed a deep red when Dani started asking questions. She loved the way Dani was still protective over her, it made her feel secure. “Her name is Callie. We met at the retreat she kind of got in the middle of one of my pictures and I kind of kept taking pictures of her as we talked. Do you really have an application for her to fill out?” She wondered if that was going a bit far on being protective of her, but she still didn’t mind it either.

“Of course I think so!” Dani smiled as she finished her onigiri. “Would I tell you things I didn’t think were true?” She thought it was adorable how Hina questioned her at times. It made her want to hug her even more, and so she did. Hina made Dani so comfortable; she knew she could always turn to Hina and then everything would be better. Dani reached for some dried mango and nibbled on the piece she grabbed while Hina talked about the girl she met.

“Oh! Callie! I work with her.” Dani nodded, “She’s wonderful, and so nice! It doesn’t surprise me that you two got along.” Dani and Callie were becoming rather close friends as of recently, because they danced together in secret. Although Dani personally didn't have feelings for the other, she could understand why somebody would. When asked about the application, Dani couldn’t help but to let out a laugh and grinning wickedly. “Nahh, I was just kidding, silly!” Dani replied, “buuuuuut, I can make one at any time!” She really wouldn’t, but once again, she enjoyed joking with Hina. It was just too much fun. “Callie is good in my books though, so maybe she doesn’t need an application, but possibly a talking to.”

Hinata blushed, Dani always knew how to make the girl blush, feel better and make her happy. It didn’t seem like Dani even tried she just did it; maybe it was because of her personality. She loved Dani, she was the greatest thing ever; she was so glad they were friends. “no you wouldn’t.” Hinata started to nibbled on an onigiri as Dani talked about Callie.

She started blushing “oh well I don’t know her all that well. But I’m glad you think she’s nice too.” Dani’s opinion helped Hina’s opinion of Callie a lot; because she trusted Dani to trust other people. Hinata enjoyed joking around with Dani and enjoyed how they teases each other though it seems Dani did more of the joking around and teasing but she was alright with that. Hina blushed “I don’t think she likes me the same way though…” She couldn’t see why the blonde would; Hina was to shy for anyone to like like or to have a crush on her. Not to mention she could read people’s mind, which had to be a turn off too.

Dani grinned, noticing Hinata’s blush. It was so fun and easy to bring color to Hina’s cheeks. Dani probably took advantage of her ability to do so far too often. She sort of considered it to be a sort of superpower, other than her ability to manipulate electricity, that is. In response, Dani reached over and pinched Hinata’s cheek gently. “If you get any more red, people are gonna mistake you for a cherry.” She teased further.

“Mmm, I think she is seeing someone… I’m not quite sure though.” Dani didn’t even think of it until after Hina brought up that Callie might not be interested in her. “But! She is a really great friend, and you have another photo subject to boot.” Dani flashed her friend a warm smile and finished off her mango. “No need to worry though, you’re like Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh, so adorable and shy; you just have to come out of your shell a bit to find someone.” She enjoyed referencing situations and friends to just about anything, and in her mind, Hina would make the most adorable anime character alive.

It was easy to make Hina blush; she just wasn’t used to people showering her with affection. Especially how much affection Dani showered her with; but she still liked it. Anyone would think she would have gotten used to it but she just hadn’t been able to. Hinata blushed even more when Dani pointed it out “am I blushing that much?” She knew she was blushing pretty hard, she could feel her cheeks heating up. “You’re making me blush though…”

Hina frowned as Dani responded “Oh…” Of course, the blonde was seeing someone. Why wouldn’t she be? She was really pretty and really nice, Hina had no business having a crush on the girl. She smiled and nodded “yeah, I’m just glad I have another friend, at least I think she’s a friend…“ She really was happy she just had another friend, Hina didn’t have many friends. Hina grinned, “You think so?” It was hard for her to get out of her shell in general. Though as she grew older her doubts started to grow that she wouldn’t find anyone.

Dani put a hand on Hina’s head, ruffling the other’s hair slightly. She adored Hina, and loved showering her in affection; she didn’t really treat anyone else like she did Hina – she was special to Dani. “Yes you areeeee~” Dani laughed, poking Hina’s cheek lightly, “I barely have to say anything and you blush, silly!” Although, Dani couldn’t deny that she did at times go out of her way to make the other girl blush.

Dani pouted slightly at Hina’s frown, “No need to be upset.” She said, “And sure you guys are friends! I bet if I asked Callie she would say you guys are.” Dani gave Hina a warm smile. The girl worried too much, which in response made Dani worry about her. She couldn’t help it, Hina was important to Dani and she didn’t want her to get hurt. “And of course I think so. You’re a sweet girl. But for now, don’t worry about it, ne? If you keep worrying about the future, you’ll never be able to enjoy the present!” Dani grabbed her bottle of Calpico and tilted it slightly towards Hina, as if she were drinking to her, before bringing the bottle to her lips and taking a sip.

Hinata groaned a little playfully when Dani ruffled her hair. It took her a while to straighten her hair this morning. She started fixing it, running her fingers through her hair to get the knots out and flatten it out. She chuckled as Dani poked her and she rubbed her cheek. “Aww… I can’t help it.”

Hina grinned “You think?” She wasn’t sure where she stood with Callie, they had only met once and she hadn’t seen the girl since the retreat. She was really hoping to meet up with her again. Maybe Hinata could stop by the doughnut shop and hang out with Callie at work with Dani. Hina smiled “You always know how to make me feel better, thank you.” She took a sip of her own drink as Dani took a sip of her’s.

“So what should we talk about now? Or do. It’s your turn to pick!” She poked Dani’s nose gently.

Dani laughed as she bit into another onigiri. She wasn’t quite sure how she made Hina feel better, or that Hina was really upset in the first place, but she was feeling better now, so that was good at least.

“Hrmmm…” Dani mumbled as she chewed her food. She swallowed before speaking, “Wanna play a board or card game?” Dani loved playing games, and they could still chat while playing, instead of watching a movie where they wouldn’t do nearly as much chatting. (Dani hated people who talked during movies or TV shows, so she figured watching a movie was out of the question.) “I’ve got a deck of cards, Monopoly, Life, Munchkins, Catan – well, that’s more of a three or four player game – Hmm. Whatever you want, really!”

Hinata wasn’t so much as upset as she was just depressed. About herself anyways, she was the shy girl that never really got attention and really didn’t know how she had managed to get a best friend like Dani.

Hinata took a piece of onigiri and took a bite out of it. There was something rewarding about eating and enjoying something you made, and something more rewarding when others ate and enjoyed it also. Hina smiled “Oh can we play war?” It was a card game, and one of her favorites. It was a kid card game but she had never really grown out of it. “That or go fish?” She really didn’t know many card games but she liked to play them.

“War it is!” Dani jumped to her feet and opened up her desk drawer, pulling out a deck of cards. She enjoyed most card games, and even if War was a simple game, it was still a lot of fun, and she knew that Hina enjoyed playing it too. She couldn’t say no. Not to mention, it was the perfect game to play while chatting because it didn’t require much attention to do so.

She flopped back down on the floor, facing Hinata. “We can play Go Fish after, if you’d like.” Dani smiled as she took the cards out of the box and started shuffling them. As quickly as she could, she split the deck between them, giving them both half the deck.
