Sculptures Really Hurt You Know [Elroy!]

The library...somehow, for whatever reason, she had been expecting chaos even in this most silent of places. But no, she was glad to discover that, like any library, it was kept mostly silent. There were exceptions, of course. Brief periods of noise, but then again, there would always be noise wherever one went. It was just a fact of life. So she was able to deal with it, somewhat, as she looked for a particular book. She had always been a rather good reader, though this hadn't really been discovered yet due to the simplistic nature of most books she had read.

And right then, what was she looking for? Why, any of the Three Kingdoms books. She wasn't a huge video game player, she spent most of her time with a computer, but she had played enough of certain games to be interested in the background of the games, and that was why she was interested in the books. There were multiple volumes, she knew that much, so she was hoping that this library at least had the first volume. The problem was, though, she had no idea how to search this place. Different libraries had different ways of categorizing their things, and she didn't know how this place organized stuff. And...it seemed she had managed to bury herself so deep into the library that there were really no staff she could see nearby. Hm...oh well.

The only thing she really saw nearby was some sort of sculpture, though she wasn't able to tell what it was; she promptly ignored it and continued on with her business. That business, of course, being looking fruitlessly for a book that might not even be in this library. But it didn't really hurt for the eleven year old to try...right?

Elroy was in the library, and he was up to no good. That doesn’t mean that he was doing anything bad in the library, just that whatever he was doing was no good.

The no good thing in question was actually fairly innocent: he was taking a photograph of a sculpture that he had made quite recently, one that he greatly admired. The sculpture was made of fired clay and measured about a foot and a half in height. Elroy had sculpted a vaguely human figure but that wasn’t even the best part. In a fit of artistic creativity, Elroy had dumped various paints onto the sculpture, which now resembled a humanoid rainbow.

Elroy was only in the library because he needed a book for his science class tomorrow, but at the moment he was too busy admiring his beautiful sculpture. Elroy always sent pictures to his folks of his various sculptures, so he had decided to do it now, in the musty old library full of browns and greys. He figured that he might as well kill two birds with one stone and that the sculpture would look more exciting and vibrant in a place that was both dull and boring. Why he chose the second floor for this task or even why he chose to place the sculpture on such a precarious place as the balcony, we will most likely never know.

Elroy backed up a bit, making sure to keep his digital camera focused on the sculpture he had dubbed “ The Human Rainbow”. Sure, Elroy had made many sculptures in the past, many different pieces of art across the years he had spent at Hammel longing for home, but this was it. This was his masterpiece, his best work of art!

Well, maybe that was an exaggeration. He didn’t have long to contemplate how big an exaggeration it was, because as soon as the thought crossed his mind, the sculpture fell off of its precarious perch on the railing of the second floor of the library. Elroy dashed towards the railing in a futile attempt to rescue his beloved rainbow and in doing so he saw that it was heading towards the head of a little girl.

Did Sayaka instantly notice the sculpture falling straight to her head? No, of course not. That was a silly thing to think. She was preoccupied in looking for that book. Of course, when she heard the boy shout out, she looked up, and her eyes widened a bit. Yup. That was the statue that she had spotted just a little while ago. Boy, she hadn't realized how...ugly it was. It was the colors on it, it was painted like a rainbow. But that wasn't important; it was going to bonk her straight in the head, and she had no idea why it had been chucked at her. For a few moments, as it flew in the air, she just stared at it.

Internally, she was panicking, wondering what she should do. Of course she should deflect it somehow. And she easily could. But she wasn't, simply due to the sheer panic she was feeling. As it got closer and closer though, the girl realized she had no choice. Suddenly the sculpture stopped moving, the pull gravity had on it lessening to an extreme degree as Sayaka concentrated heavily on the object. It just floated there, and the more she concentrated on it, the more gravity's pull left it, to the point that it hovered back up to the second floor of the library.

This took some doing, but she also managed to slightly change the slight hold gravity still had on it, so that it was orientated back in the direction of the male. Then...she just let it drop. If he wanted to catch it, that was his prerogative, but she couldn't spare any more energy. Besides, there were more important things to do. Just mere moments after stopping the sculpture from knocking her out cold, Sayaka stomped up to the second floor to confront him. "Why'd you throw that at me?" the Japanese girl asked, a frown on her face as she kept her gaze on him.

Elroy felt slightly guilty as he caught the sculpture in his hands, preventing it from any damage that might have been caused by dropping it. He had caused that Japanese girl obvious distress, and the expression of panic on her face after she had realized just how much danger she was in had, Elroy admitted, made him a little concerned for her safety as well. Luckily, she had had an awesome power (telekinesis?) that had allowed her to defuse the situation safely and without damaging the sculpture either. Elroy was about to breathe a sigh of relief when the Japanese girl came stomping up the stairs to the second floor rather loudly!

She had asked him why he threw the sculpture at her. Oh no, she thinks that I threw at her on purpose! Elroy had to defuse these thoughts before she got mad at him for something he had never intended to do in the first place.

So Elroy looked her straight in the eyes and spoke in a far too cheery tone of voice, "I didn't, actually. At least, I didn't throw this at you on purpose. I didn't even mean for this thing to fall at all! But you have telekinesis or something similiar, so no harm done, right?"

The guy seemed way too...eager to deny the fact that he had thrown it. But...she didn't really have any proof that he had intended to throw it, just the fact that it had been falling towards her. And it could have just fallen from its precarious perch. But still, even so, she was going to keep a close eye on this male, that much was for certain. "Well...okay then," Sayaka told him, still keeping a frown on her young face.

Were this an ordinary statue, that might have been that and she probably would have just walked away to seek out her book again. But this statue was anything but ordinary. "Say, uh...is it supposed to be ugly?" the girl asked. She didn't mean to say it so rudely, but in her eyes, there really was no other way to say it; this thing was godawful, and she relished anyone that was able to see any value behind all the rainbow colors in it.

Sure, she wasn't good at art or anything like that, but even she could tell that something was different about this piece compared to most other artsy things she had seen in her lifetime. "I mean...it just has too many colors."
