Time and Time Again (Odi)

Sage was very excited to see Odion again. It had been so long since they truly hung out, and from the rumors floating around, it seemed that he had been through quite a bit since they last saw each other. He wanted to be a comforting friend that would either listen or help him to completely forget about all that had happened.

When deciding on a place to meet, he just thought it appropriate to bring them back to where they first met. It seemed like only yesterday that they had met at the mall while Christmas shopping. Odion’s boyfriend at the time, Rhett, had not liked him one bit either, since he was accused of trying to steal Odion from then. However, they had become good friends despite the experience and had fun times, like the house warming party for Rhett that Sage remembered getting just a liiiiiitttllee bit tipsy.

But the past was in the past now, and although both of their lives were changing, Sage still wanted Odion in his life and he hoped he felt the same. The green eyed boy found a table in the food court and waited patiently for him to arrive, sipping a lemonade he had purchased.

Odion had been so busy in his own little world, he'd nearly forgotten all about Sage. Nearly. The last time they had seen one another, Odion had almost moved in with Rhett and what was his new apartment. Things were different now, and Odi had no idea there were any rumors at all about him, and the less he knew about those, the better for everyone's safety.

So when he'd gotten a text from Sage, he couldn't help but smile. It was only suiting that they meet at the mall where their friendship began. Odion had chosen his friends wisely, and Sage was someone who couldn't hurt a fly even if he tried. Though he'd seen the new bike he'd been riding on, Odi didn't think Sage had changed a bit. Sage was a good person and Odion needed every bit of humanity in as bright a light he could get right now.

Odion wasn't going to bare he soul to Sage (some would argue he doesn't even have one), but he wouldn't mind feeling a little normal for once amidst the drama that was his life.

The ginger was enjoying a caffeinated beverage that he hadn't spent a dime on. His dark blue eyes spotted Sage and he smiled slightly. He made for the table and sat across from his friend from the past. This was all too strange.

"So how's college?" He asked right away, seeing as he was meant to have graduated but well, his power said otherwise.

Sage didn’t expect Odion to bare his soul, though he knew for a fact that he had one. There were many times where he could have perhaps taken advantage of him, but he did not once do anything that a friend wouldn’t have done. Odion was a good person, and that was all that mattered to Sage. Seeing his face, he instantly lit up in all ways, and smiled brightly back at him.

“I’m happy to see you, Odion. It’s been such a long time, hasn’t it?”

The redhead smiled, but he didn’t seem very happy. Perhaps he really had been going through a lot and it was not just rumors after all. This concerned Sage, but he was focused on just helping him have a good time and not to dwell on whatever drama was going on in his life.

“College is all right. It’s certainly different. Kind of makes me feel a little uneasy at times, but I’ll get used to it”

A part of Sage desperately missed Hammel and all the people he left behind, Odion included, but he knew that everyone had to move on sometime.

“How are things at Hammel? I heard there’s a Halloween party coming?”

It was so good to see Sage, better than Odion had anticipated. Who knew that one person would lighten things up ever so nicely? Odi wasn’t sure, though he blamed it on his mood at the time, but Sage didn’t seem like someone who would ever manipulate him. Odion was tired of being manipulated.

“Too long I think,” he said, though the initiative to get together sooner wouldn’t have been taken. If he didn’t have the time, he seriously doubted that anyone would.

“What are you taking?” Odion asked curiously. He wouldn’t bother if he didn’t actually care.

Odion smiled a bit at the thought of the dance. Now that Sage was out of Hammel, he didn’t get to be a part of the gossip tree. Did he know that Lani and Adrianna weren’t dating anymore? Did he know that Declyn arrived and claimed to be blood related to Odion? “There is,” he said, sipping at his drink, “I might actually go.” This was meant to be taken as shocking news.

It had truly been a long time, and Sage was already grateful to have this time to spend with Odion. However, as expected, Odion did not seem interested in the slightest in talking about himself. He was quick to turn the attention back to Sage, and he got the message, answering his question.

“Well, I’m taking just the basic courses right now. English, Biology, History, Psychology, and a music class. They’re all really interesting”

Odion gave a rare smile and actually seemed somewhat excited about the dance that was coming up, but Sage had a feeling it wasn’t for the actual dance but perhaps someone. He wasn’t going to push him for answers, but he smiled back, glad to see Odion actually looking forward to something.

“Really? I’m glad. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. Are you going with anyone?”

No one really knew Odion that well, and he didn't mind, that's how he wanted things to remain. Most knew he had a brother at Hammel, that he played cards, was an inconsiderate jerk, and liked to stay tucked away by himself. Only a few could see past that surface, and only one really knew him better than he knew himself.

"Basic courses for what?" He asked. They couldn't be that interesting, they didn't sound that wonderful. Maybe he wouldn't bother sneaking into college, it seemed like an even bigger waste of time than Hammel was.

"Maybe," Odion said happily, a twinkle in his eyes, "but just as friends." He wasn't going to push anything when wounds were still fresh. "Are there any parties going on that you'll attend at the university?" Maybe Sage had a special someone he had his eye on. Odion raised his eyebrow suggestively as though he were asking just that.

Sage really had no idea what he wanted to do for a career yet. He liked many things, but there wasn’t many that he was so passionate about that he would pursue a career for it. He figured that maybe if he took enough classes for a general degree, maybe he would find what he was looking for along the way. Sage wasn’t sure if there was much that he could do with hobbies like cooking, archery, and piano playing.

“Just general classes. Nothing specific really. I guess it’s a little bit of everything”

And it was true that the classes weren’t all interesting. They were pretty difficult for the most part, but with enough hard work and studying, everything worked out. Sage noticed the twinkle in his eye and smiled, wondering if Odion had someone he liked. It would be good if he found someone who would help him to have a little more faith in himself.

When he was asked if he was going to a party, he shook his head, not having even considered it.

“I don’t know of any parties going on, though I’m sure there are probably many. I don’t really know that many people though, so I probably should make other plans”

Sage lowered his eyes a bit and took another sip of his drink, seeming to be deep in thought for a moment.

“By the way…do you happen to know Cameron Osiris? Is he going with anyone?”

"What are you going to do with those classes? What are they good for?" Odion wondered. He hadn't really looked at going to post secondary, so his questioning was out of curiosity and interest in his friend, nothing more.

A single eyebrow rose. "You don't know any people?" Odion found that very seriously hard to believe. Sage was one of the nicest, and genuine people he knew. Not that Odion would trust him with his life story, but he did trust him enough to spend time with him. That was a start.

Odion watched his friend, leaning forward a bit across the table. Sage seemed to be troubled by something.

And then god forbid Cameron Osiris was brought up in conversation. Did everyone know him? Odion rolled his eyes and shook his head, looking off to the side as other patrons milled about the mall. "Yes, I know him," he looked back at Sage, "he's going with my brother." What a strange twist of events this had turned out to be. Odion wasn't sure if he wanted to laugh, or cry. Declyn had come to him asking for advice about this Cameron bloke, and now Sage too?

"Don't tell me you like him as well," Odion said, but he already knew the answer. It was written across Sage's pretty face.

Sage shrugged at the question of the classes. He honestly had no idea what their importance was; he was just doing what he was supposed to, really. It seemed like a flawed system when you thought about it, but knowledge was a good thing, so he wasn’t stressing over it.

It was true that he didn’t really know anyone, and this was not because he was not nice, but because of how shy he was. He found it hard to talk to the college crowd, since they all seemed so wild. That, and he was nervous about what they’d think about his powers. Meta’s were not exactly a secret, but they weren’t always the most accepted bunch either. Sage’s power could hardly hurt anyone, so it was easier to get along, but there was always that uncertainty that normal humans had that would perhaps get in the way.

“It’s a little different meeting people in college, but I’m sure it’ll all work out”

Sage blushed and wished he could bury himself in that moment after the comment about Cam. So it really was a well known thing that many liked him, huh? He sighed a bit, and was very surprised to hear that he was going to the dance with Odion’s brother.

“Really? I see…”

Sage shook his head, blushing more and his body was glowing brightly at the embarrassment.

“Well, I do like him, but not like that…it’s complicated…I just like to know how he’s doing, because I care about him, but it looks like he’s doing just fine”

Odion smiled softly, "I'm sure it will." Sage wasn't the most confident man, but he had a spark to him that no one else could hold a flame too. He was special in his own right, even if he didn't know what he was doing in university. Odi found that a little bizarre, and a complete waste of time but not everyone knew what they wanted. Still, it was a waste of time.

Odi nodded once as he felt the anger boil up inside of him. Now he had another reason to detest Cameron Osiris. He watched Sage glow and wondered just how Cameron managed to wrap what seemed to be the entire school around his little finger with relative ease. He found probably shoot someone in the face and they would think he was the most adorable cretin...

But Sage snapped him back to the present. Now was not a time to get lost. "Sure," Odion said, dismissing Sage's explanation as quickly as it came out. "You deserve better than that scum anyways," he muttered, though he knew his words would still come out crystal clear. Sage seemed to care about a lot of people who didn't deserve it. Like Odion for instance.

Sage could sense that Odion had hard feelings towards Cameron, and he wondered why. Cam was such a nice person…what could he have possibly done to cause such hatred from Odion? The blond knew he was popular, but he never imagined that anyone could see him in a negative way.

However, Odion seemed to dismiss his statements and went on to express his rather harsh opinion. Sage blinked in confusion at the words, setting his drink down to process what had just been said. Scum? Odion thought Cam was scum?

“…W..what do you mean by that, Odion? Do you dislike him? For what reason?”

The glow on his body disappeared and his emerald eyes instead filled with concern. Had something happened between them? He really hoped everything was all right.

It was because Cameron was so nice that Odion detested him. Well that, and how Cameron seemed completely shocked that Odi wouldn't let him into his pants. Oddly, 'you're pretty good lookin' for a ginger' didn't strike Odion as likable. In fact, the further Cameron stayed away from him, the better for everyone. It was a little diabolical, just how many people Cameron thought he new. It was probably a good thing he was nothing like Oidon at all.

Cameron had been easy to ignore, that was, until Declyn came to him for dating advice and Osiris was mentioned. Cameron was a player, a true player, and Declyn didn't need to have his heart broken, ever. Maybe Odion was just watching out for his brother, because he certainly hadn't been interested in the affairs of Cameron Osiris until recently. He was a boy that everyone needed to keep a close eye on. There had to be some ulterior motive for him to get everyone to like him.

"He's complete and utter trash," Odion said simply, calming down his rage. "He's a brute who wants everyone to adore him. Well I don't, and if he ever hurts Declyn, or you..." Odi cast a glance at Sage. Didn't he know that Cameron slept around with everyone? He leaned forward a little bit. "I mean to say that you deserve someone who likes you and only you, not you and the whole fucking school."
