Modesty? What's that? (Amos)

It was a Thursday afternoon, and as she often did, Tak had decided to skip class for the time being. She hated the work, hated being told what to do, so she sometimes skipped out on class just to spite the authorities at the school. It wasn't that she wasn't smart, she just.... Didn't want to go to class, and saved homework until the very last minute so she just barely squeaked by.

Instead, she was lounging around in the common area, not expecting anyone to be around for at least another hour or so. Therefore, she found it not inappropriate to be in her most comfortable state - clothes-less. Not that she thought it hurt anyone anyway, but well, it wasn't exactly encouraged in the Institute. Dumb.

She played idly with her hair as she flipped through one of her many photograph books, sitting comfortably in a plushy recliner. She had no plans to move anywhere anytime soon. She had an apple in one hand as well, and munched at it diligently as she laughed over a particularly cute shot of a baby duck at the pond from months past.

Amos nibbled at a day-old pastry that he was clutching in his pale, thin hand with a paper napkin. He had brought it home from work the night before so that he could eat it for breakfast, but he had slept until afternoon… so, in truth, the pastry was really about two days old.

It was still good. Amos didn’t feel any shame; he hadn’t been awake long enough for that.

He rummaged around in the box next to his small Keurig, and was more than a little dismayed to find that he was out of K-Cups. He sighed heavily and grabbed his favorite mug with the intention of making coffee the “long” way: in other words, with microwaved water from the bathroom tap and a teaspoon of instant coffee granules.

He had taken two steps out of his room before wishing that he had never left it.

“Whooooaa…kay, okay, hi,” Amos said with as much eloquence as he could muster. He was looking at the ceiling with abnormally wide eyes and trying to maintain a normal tone of voice. “Tak. Good afternoon. I suppose you’re, uh, aware that you’re naked, as per usual.”

As soon as Tak heard footsteps at Amos's door and the handle creaked, she realized she was not as alone as she thought. Not that it mattered - Amos was kind, sweet, harmless. Just like the bunnies that he seemed to adore so much. She almost felt bad for exposing him to her... Well, natural state, but it's not like it was the first time. And she had no modesty. So she didn't feel bad, not really.

"Hey Bunny," she replied, giving him a friendly wave with a smile. She liked Amos. They were both into nature; she had even considered joining that new Environmental Awareness Club he and Juniper had started. But the poor boy had seemed to take great interest in the ceiling, and she couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Yes, I am quite aware, thank you. Here." She actually reached over to grab a blanket from a nearby chair and draped it over herself, covering all the important parts. "Better?" For anyone else, she wouldn't have bothered, but he really was a sweetheart. "You skipping class too?" She had forgotten he had a habit of sleeping in.

Amos offered her a meek smile in return, signifying that it was, indeed, better. He rubbed one heavily-bagged eye. A few seconds later, the reality of the afternoon set in; she was accurate in assuming that he hadn’t attended any classes today.

“Crap,” he sighed. “Not on purpose. Ms. Rivera is going to be pissed at me. Or, I mean, uh, sorely disappointed, at least.”

He stared rather morosely at his empty cup.

“Um, want some coffee?” He offered after a moment’s pause before picking up the jar of instant coffee and unscrewing the lid. The smell was rather anemic – it was instant coffee, after all – but he inhaled deeply anyway.
