Ninja Contest [Adam and Vincent]

Sometimes things at Hammel happened without a good reason. Sometimes things just happened.

When Shaina got to the training room, she dropped her bag of "supplies" in the corner and sat down on the floor to stretch. She hadn't been at a real gym--the gymnasium at Hammel didn't count, it was fine for working out, but not what she was used to--in over a year, but she'd kept in good shape anyway. She even practiced some of her less-potentially-lethal tricks on the lawn, and it wasn't unusual to see her using a curb as a a balance beam when she was bored.

She stretched into a split, leaning over to touch her toes on one side, then another. The sophomore hoped her trainer would get there soon, and Vincent as well. She didn't want to win this ridiculous thing by default. Shaina pushed herself up, then pushed up into a handstand. This was going to be easy, and hopefully Mr. Moore would take this as practice and go easy on her for the next few weeks. They'd already agreed that powers were allowable in this contest.

After a few seconds, Shaina dropped into a walkover and stood up. She wanted to get this ridiculous competition started.

Adam may not be the most professional staff member at the school (which was increasingly obvious as he was judging a ninja contest of stealing things), but he… Well, there wasn’t really a ‘but’. Except that he would do his best to make sure that anything that was stolen was returned to the rightful owner. And in his mind, that made up for having to do with the competition in the first place.

Walking in, he caught his trainee dropping down from a handstand. It was kinda awesome. It’d been a while since he’d done one himself. “That was pretty good. I’d show off a bit, try to show you up, but I don’t wanna be the guy to try to do that, then fall on my face.” Adam doubted that would be the case, but just in case.

“So where’s Verax? I wanna go over a few more things before we get this thing going. I thought of some things I think are fair for the competition. And it’ll make it more fun.” Secretly, he was rooting for Shaina to win. Smiling, he added, “You’ll have an advantage. You’re welcome.” What? He wanted his trainee to win. Was that so wrong?

Vincent was late as usual. He strolled into the room, exuding much more confidence than he should over this so-called "Ninja Contest." The fact that his opponent had monkey powers should have been enough to make him realize that he was at a massive disadvantage and, if not that, then their judge being said monkey-like opponent's trainer really should have tipped him off. There was definitely going to be bias in her favor.

But Vincent didn't think of any of that. Because Vincent rarely-to-never thinks about anything other than how awesome he is at anything and everything.

"I hope yer ready ta have yer ass kicked!" Vin declared loudly as he put his hands on his hips and thrust his chest out. A little tiny bit of him was jealous because his trainer never did anything cool like set up or judge competitions like this. No, compared to Adam, his trainer was a lame stick in the mud, who just made Vin sit down and shut up for long periods of time. Totally unfair.

"I don't know where he is. Late. But don't go easy on me. He's not in half as good shape." Shaina grinned up at her trainer and stretched again. It had been too long since she'd really been put through her paces, but she knew she was in better shape than Verax. (After all, he didn't practice every day like she did, and he had no reason to train. Any injury he got would be fixed in a few hours.)

The girl only smirked wider and crossed her arms when Vincent come in, bragging all the way. So what if he couldn't get hurt, if there was anyone who deserved the title of school ninja, it was her.

"Stuff it, Vincent. You couldn't kick my ass even if you could catch me." She swished her tail back and forth, then used it to pick up her bag with her ninja supplies. She was ready for whatever their first task was.

Shaina hopped up to perch on one of the desks, ready to go. "So, Mr. Moore. What am I going to win first?" If she hadn't been challenged in a ninja contest, she wouldn't have been so cocky. Really.

Smiling at Shaina, Adam had decided he’d made the right choice in liking her. Ok, he ‘liked’ all his trainees. He was supposed to say that. He couldn’t exactly play favorites. But he really did. But he tried not to let it show though. But the fact that she liked a challenge made it more fun. Especially with this activity. “Oh, don’t worry. It’s not gonna be easy. But in fairness to Ver-”

Turning to eye the late one, Adam smiled. “Speak of the devil himself. Perfect. And don’t go trash talking my girl here. My money’s on her.”

All of them together now, Adam clapped and rubbed his hands. “Alright! Like I was telling girly here, I’m not gonna take it easy on her. Because this’ll be good for your training. But, to be fair to the non-monkey person, we’re gonna start off small that way he can get idea of how he should do this.”

“Now, this is how things are gonna work: I’m going to tell you what to steal, it’ll be a race between you two to steal it, and stolen items will be given to me.” Of course Adam had every intention of returning every last item. And he’d be sure to it was nothing important. Not very at least. “The way items are stolen DOES count towards your overall score. So walking into an empty room, taking whatever it is, and walking out will but worth negative points as that’s really lame.”

Smiling, he folded his arms, liking Shaina’s confidence in herself. “I am open to discussions of what the prize for the winner should be. When you win Shaina, what would you like?” His smile turned into a taunting smirk thrown at Vincent. Oh yeah, Adam was positive she’d win.
