Lark sat down in the vegan cafe wondering how in the world that people could literally live off of nothing but the earth, but he supposed that people did it in different countries and it wasn't such a...taboo eating style. Was it taboo? As a meat eater, it was to him, but it wasn't... Oh nevermind.

The pretty waitress came to take their orders. He allowed Mia to order first and then ordered the only thing that resembled actual food. "Is that actual grass?" He thought he just puked in his mouth a little bit.

"I need a little bit of romantic advice. There is a girl that I'm interested in, but she's completely the opposite of me. There are only a few things we have in common and honestly? I don't know! I find myself imagining a relationship with her. But I'm not a relationship kind of guy, but then, why am I imagining this?!" he said, finally letting a breath in.

Mia sat across from Lark, smiling at him. She was excited “Yay! This is so a date right?” she teased, she liked teasing and he should really be used to it by now. She knew this wasn’t a ‘date’, because well, she didn’t have those feelings for him and even if she did, she had stronger feelings for someone else and it just wouldn’t be right to lead Lark on like that. Even if her and this certain guy didn’t get together. She wasn’t Cameron.

Mia didn’t even notice the waitress was pretty, which said something because she usually did and if she was with a single friend she would tell them to get the waiter/waitress’ number. “Horses eat it, why can’t we?” Mia chuckled a little at how off putting vegan food was to the boy. “I’ll have the fried eggplant sandwich.” Which was the equivalent to a McDonald’s chicken sandwich “Cream soda, please.”

Raising an eyebrow at Lark, another woman? Was this why it had gone to bad with Lacey? She didn’t want to get in the middle of friend drama, because that usually tended to have her make her pick a side and she never wanted to do that. “Do I know this girl?” She said smiling, she was kind of excited that the boy had a crush on someone. “I know how you feel..” She said softly. “Ever since Cameron, I’ve realized I’m not meant for dating or relationships…” She sighed “If you feel comfortable around her, and feel like you don’t want to push her away, then maybe you should give it a shot, at least go on a few dates with her. But! Warn her first, that way she can make the choice to work through this with you or if she just doesn’t want to go through that…”

Lark quickly shook his head. Why would outgoing Mia Bell know shy Willow Birdsong? Then again, while Willow rarely let anyone in, Mia had a way of...pushing her way into people's lives. It was one of things that Lark admired about his friend. He couldn't really get close to anyone until she came along, but then again, they were roommates, so whether they liked it or not, they would've had to interact sooner or later.

"Willow Birdsong?" he said, confessing her name. She was a shy creature, shy enough to never get noticed. "I'm afraid that if I warned her that I'm not a man of relationships, that would scare her away. She's extremely shy, I mean... really shy." He didn't know what else to say. Maybe he could mention that they had already kind of been out on a date, which started with him abusing her into going to the bowling alley with him.

"You see... We've already been on a date and well... it was a complete...disaster... I think. I bullied her into going into town with me and then bowling and I think I would've kissed her at the park we stopped at, which was in the middle of a storm, if I hadn't been too freaked out about my thoughts."

Mia knew Willow, she was actually friends with the sweet girl. Yes, Mia did push her way into people’s lives, she hoped that, that was a good thing, but the drawback was that she also pushed people out of her life. Weird how that worked out, huh? But, just because they were roommates didn’t mean they had to become friends, or even become this close. But that fact is, Mia saw a great person in Lark, and Lark somewhere down the line had let her in.


Mia grinned as she heard the name “Oh My gosh! Sweet Willow?” She let out a small squeal of delight. “That is so cute. Oh my gosh! I so need to talk to her about this now …” She wondered if the girl had the same feelings for Lark, oh she thought that would be so cute. “Scare away Willow? Lark, she may be shy but she is smart, and knows a lot about psychology. But there are things you both need to work on… And they are similar, I know, or I think I know, that Willow isn’t a relationship kind of person. But if you’re willing to work with her on it, then maybe she will be willing to work with you on it. It could be a learning experience for both of you?”


Mia raised an eyebrow, “You bullied her into it? Why?” Okay this got so much weirder. But maybe, Willow did need some gentle pushing/bullying. That sounded mean, but in the end maybe not. “Okay… So talk to her about it? She’s not some dumb kid and neither are you. You both are very complicated people, but that could work out in both of your favors. Because you both know what it feels like and how hard it is. So, talk it out, tell her about those thoughts of yours, look for answers inside yourself and then tell them to Willow, or maybe Willow could even help you answer those questions, like why you have trouble with relationships. The best thing you can do, is talk it out, responsibly, and gently.” She couldn’t see why Willow wouldn’t want to talk this out, other than her being scared herself; and if that was the case than Mia needed to have a talk with her too.

Lark let out a frustrated sigh. “Are you serious? I can’t talk to her about that. I know people say being honest is key, but seriously, no. You’d have to pay me and I don’t think you could afford me. I don’t know what I want from her, but...” Mia’s food was set in front of her. Lark almost puked his food out from before. There wasn’t any meat or anything of that sort. Why she wanted to be vegan was beyond them, but they weren’t there to tease her about her food choices. He just stuck with the water.

“I don’t know what it is about her. See, when we were on our last date, she asked me to promise her if I wouldn’t leave her. It would’ve been the perfect time to just kiss her and... I didn’t. I...I never said anything to that. I just got up and said something about it being curfew. Was I an idiot?” he asked, taking a sip of his water. Lark automatically flinched as if he expected her to hit him. Well, he did.

Mia let out the same sigh “You wanted my advice, so I’m giving it to you. You already stated you royally screwed up. So you don’t have many other options.” She shook her head “How would you feel if a girl had done the same thing to you and didn't explain a thing? This isn't just about how you feel, it's also about how she feels. You have to understand that, and see this from her point of view too.” She said thank you to the waitress as she brought her, her food. She was vegan by choice, and there was nothing anyone could do or say to change that; and all she asked from Lark was to respect it. “Give me one good logical reason why you can’t talk to Willow about this.”

“I really do understand how scared you feel about this. I've been through this before, with Cameron, but there's a difference in the situation...” He owed Willow an explanation for what he had done, or not have done. The question is, why didn't Lark want to explain things? “You aren't an idiot, your just confused. But, Willow is a fragile girl, Lark, You can’t keep messing with her. Either you like her or you don’t; it’s that black and white, I won’t let there be any gray. Not when it involves Willow.” Lark had really picked the wrong girl to mess with, because if he ended up hurting the girl, Mia would seriously kick his but. This was how protective she was over Willow.
