Nick leaned his head against the brick wall outside the bar where Kadi was working. He didn't want to bother her, so he figured it'd be better for him to wait outside. The nights were starting to get colder, but he didn't really mind all that much. He had Kadi to keep him warm at nights. Well, most nights anyways. Nick watched all the people going in and out the bar, most of them drunken fools. They were all pretty loudmouthed and obnoxious, so he turned his attention elsewhere.

A group of girls walked by him, all three of them sending him flirtatious smiles and a few winks. Keep going. Nothing for you to see here. Their smiles faded quickly as he merely shrugged and looked away. Now that he had Kadi, other girls didn't interest him. Why would they? They couldn't compare even if they tried.

Rubbing his hands together to keep them warm he patiently waited for his girlfriend to finish her shift. It wasn't that much longer to wait. Maybe a few minutes or so. He was glad he had put a jacket and a cap, because without it, he'd probably freeze to death. With his hands in his pockets he took another glance, just in time to see a beautiful blonde emerge from the bar entrance. His face lit up in a bright smile as he approached her. ''I'll be Burger King and you be McDonald's. I'll have it my way, and you'll be lovin' it.'', he said with a chuckle and planted a kiss on Kadi's cheek. ''Hey beautiful.''

Boy was she ready to be done with this shift. It was a good thing it ended at midnight because that at least gave her a little time to spend with her newfound boyfriend. It still took her a bit to really get used to thinking that, let alone say it out loud. She was happy though because she finally had someone to keep her company, she wasn't that sad, lonely girl anymore. It only took her five years to get past that stage of her life.

She headed out of the bar, shooting Van a goodbye and telling him she'd repay him somehow for all the early mornings that he went to her apartment and took care of her puppy. Gosh she couldn't wait to take Nick there so he could see Cooper, surely he would adore him as much as she did.

It had been a very insane evening of work, lots of people and far too many drunk guys. She found herself getting much more annoyed by their approaches now that she was with Nick, but Van just told her to play it cool and play nice with the customers. It was the way she made her tips after all. The manager told her in the beginning to act available, but never be available and at the time she had acted and actually was available, even if she never went through with it. Now she finally wasn't.

Hearing Nick's voice, she looked up to see him and she smiled. Only he could manage to make this night worth while. As she got closer he kissed her cheek and she wrapped her arms around his neck, "You have no idea how much I missed you while I was working. It was awful. But how was your day and night?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.

Nick would adore her puppy, that was for sure. He had always been a dog person and puppies where one of his many weaknesses. He had planned to get a dog for himself for quite some time, but Kadi having one would have to do.

Nick lifted her up as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He swung her around a few times before letting her down again. ''If it's anywhere near as much as I missed you, I have pretty good idea.'', he said with a slight chuckle and put his arm around her waist. He shrugged and kissed her lips. ''It was okay. One of the kids on my team sprained his ancle. He cried like a baby. But, my day's a lot better now that you're here.''

He lead her down the street keeping his arm protectivly around her shoulder, sending every guy who dared look at her the wrong way a scowl. There was a lot of drunk people wandering around the streets, and he was glad he had decided to pick her up so she wouldn't have to walk around here alone. ''Are you hungry?'', he asked and looked down at her with a smile.

Kadence laughed as he lifted her up and held onto him tighter. He set her down and she gripped the bottom of his shirt to keep him close a little longer. He leaned down and kissed her and she stood up on her tip-toes if only to prolong it a little. His comment had her laughing and she smacked his arm lightly, "You be nice to those boys, they look up to you and not all of them are as tough and rugged as you. Mr. I Will Never Cry At Anything."

She knew that was probably just an exaggeration, but she was going to mess with him anyway. He did sort of come off as the type that never cried and she wondered if she would ever catch him at a time when he did. It would be odd to say the least, but she wouldn't mind it. Guys crying was heart-wrenching.

They walked down the street and she kept her arm around his waist as he looked around. She could see the mean mugging he gave any guy that kept his eyes on her for a little too long and she just had to smirk. He wasn't allowed to get mad if she did the same thing, of that she would make sure. Kadi nodded, "I've been surviving on bar peanuts all day. The ones out of the can, not the little bowls because..ew." She'd never think of eating bar food that was for the public. "What'd you have in mind?"

''Psh. Never cry? You haven't seen me watch Hachiko - A Dog's Tale or My Dog Skip. I cry every time.'', he said jokingly and pouted at her. Truth be told, those movies made him cry like a girl. Every time. He'd never admit to that of course. ''It was just a little strain, nothing big...'' Honestly, he didn't want to let her see him cry. It would make him feel less manly, if that was even possible.

Kadi could scowl at all the girls she wanted. He'd take it as a huge compliment, besides he liked her bossy side. The way she craved authority was hot. Besides, he didn't want other girls to look at him like that. That was for Kadi, and Kadi only. ''Well, I was hoping I could lay down on the couch, watch some football while you cook...'', he said with a chuckle and ruffled her hair. ''What do you feel like eating? A pizza, take away or maybe something at a restaurant?'' He was fine with anything as long as he got something to eat. And those peanuts sounded tempting by now.

"Remind me to make you watch those movies with me," She said with a smirk. Kadi only ever cried when she was reminded of her brother or if she was confronted with the same things Mason ever made her feel. If someone commented on her weight or intelligence or anything that had to do with her and it was a knock, she would burst into tears on the spot because even through all of the counseling, it was hard taking that stuff from anyone. She could easily snap back at that person though.

Ha, yeah Kade had a bit of an authority problem. She liked being in charge because that way she knew things would get done the right way. It was a control thing that she developed over time, especially at work. Luckily she didn't have to worry about Van because he actually knew what he was doing. "Ha, if you think I'm that girl, you're sadly mistaken, babe." She nudged him and laughed, "I want to go home and cuddle so order or take-out sounds good to me."

''As if.'', he said and returned the smirk. He bumped her shoulder playfully and planted a kiss on her cheek. ''Oh yeah, that reminds me...'', he said and reached for his pocket and pulled out a small leather box. ''I, uh. Got this for you.'', he said and handed her the box. It contained a necklace made of silver with a heart dangling from it. He shrugged and looked away, a little embarressed. He wanted to spoil her as much as he could, but he couldn't help but to blush a little from it. ''It's nothing fancy or anything.''


He looked at her with his eyebrow. ''Hey, rude much?'', he started but stopped at that. He wasn't going to throw any sexist comments around seeing as it would backfire back at him anyways. He'd rather keep his balls intact, thank you. ''Cuddles it is!'', he said and did a Superman pose before chuckling. ''As the Lady commands.'' He flipped through the different take-out places in his mind, not quite sure what she wanted. ''There's one just down the street. They have pretty much everything. Mostly fastfood though.''

Kadence looked up at him and giggled. He pulled something from his pocket and she tilted her head to the side as he held it out to her. Her eyes widened slightly and she opened the little leather box. When she saw the necklace she felt tears spring to her eyes and she grabbed at his arm to stop him. "Nicky, i-it's gorgeous. Will you put it on me?" She asked as she looked from the necklace up to him. She was in shock because no one had ever gotten her anything like this. No boy at least.

She narrowed her eyes at him, waiting for him to pull a sexist comment, but luckily for him he stopped. She wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him as they walked. Kadi had to admit, she was falling really fast for him. And really hard. She thought for a moment and pursed her lips. Honestly the more she thought about it, the more an idea formed in her mind. "I've got a better idea, there's a salsa bar just up here, we can eat and dance?" Her eyes traveled up to his and she batted her eyelashes. "Pretty please, Nicky."

He was really happy about her reaction, and his face lit up into a huge smile. ''Of course.'', he said and picked the necklace up. ''Hold your hair up.'' And as she did, he put the necklace around her neck and hooked it up. He had been a little worried about the whole thing. It was his first time buying something like this for a girl, and he didn't know what she'd might like. But her reaction was all he needed to know that he'd picked just the perfect thing. ''Like it?''

Salsa? Nick had to admit, dancing had never been his forte. If you looked apart from the drunken party dancing he used to do. But that was pretty simple stuff, and he was drunk, so who cared. ''Err..'', he glanced towards the direction she had said it was and looked back at her. But then again, as she was bashing her eyelashes - probably on purpose because she knew it'd work that evil, little woman - he couldn't really find it in his heart to say no. ''Aight. But no mocking dem moves.'', he said and stuck his tongue out at her. Well, it could get interesting, and even if he had asked her not to, she'd probably end up mocking him anyways. He'd look like a cow trying to do the waltz, there was no doubt about it. He was great at sports, but when it came to dancing...Not so much. ''But!'', he added with a smirk. ''Only on one condition; You come watch the game next saturday. The boys are playing.''

Kadi smiled and lifted the short hair on the back of her neck up as he latched it. When it fell comfortably against the hollow of her chest, she touched it softly and chewed on her lower lip. "Of course I like it, it's beautiful," She said in excitement. The very idea that he had even been thinking of her enough to actually buy her something, it was amazing. She couldn't stop smiling now as she continued playing with the little heart. It was crazy how lucky she was.

She just kept giving him that look, waiting for him to cave and say yes. And there it was. She leaped at him and wrapped her arms around his neck, "Yayayayayay! And I would never!" Kadi said with a giggle. Okay, maybe she would, but he didn't need to know that. He couldn't very well complain seeing as how salsa was a very up close kind of dance that required a lot of hip movement and close proximity. It was also kind of sensual. Knowing just how good he was at being sexy, she didn't doubt that he would be at least somewhat decent at salsa. If anything they'd stick to the slower songs.

"You really think I'd miss it? I already talked to Van and he agreed to take on my shift and he also started training someone else, so I'm all set," She smiled and hooked her fingers in his belt loops and tugged him closer. "And you can't say this won't be a little fun," She smirked.

Nick rollled his eyes at her enthusiasm, but couldn't help but letting out a smile. She was adorable, and even more so when she got things the way she wanted. Besides, how hard could salsa be anyways? He wasn't that bad at watching and learning. And hey, watching Kadi do that kind of dance was worth the embarressement, so in the end it was more or less a win-win situation.

''Good girl.'', he said with a chuckle. It was a special feeling knowing that Kadi would be there on the sidelines and watching Nick do one of the things he knew best how to do. Nick would rather have been the one actually playing - but being a coach was good enough. At least for now. He'd love to get back into playing, but even he knew it wasn't all that easy without a scholarship, even if he had been a star player at one point. He lacked the kind of contacts he needed for that. But, he wasn't going to complain about it, life was good. If not perfect even. ''Yeah, yeah. It'll be hilarious.'' Well, at least for her.

Opening the door to the salsa bar, he reached his hand out. ''Ladies first.'' He took a quick peek around and shook his head. First things first; He needed a beer to man up with. ''Want something to drink?'', he asked her and stretched his neck to look for any free tables, his hand still around her shoulder. ''I know I need one to survive this.'', he admitted and grinned.

Kadence couldn't help herself, she was looking forward to making Nick do things he never typically would. The only thing she knew she had to do was keep it to herself because she knew if Nate or any of his friends found out about this, he'd never hear it down. Not that she figured Nathan would tell anyone, but one could never be sure when it came to brothers.

She hadn't exactly told Nick that she ran into Nathan at the school when she went to talk to Dr. Neville. She'd been keeping in touch with the younger boy, helping him out with the girl problems he was having. He seemed so confused about the whole thing and she took pity on the poor boy. She planned on sneaking it into conversation with Nick, but hadn't found a time to quite yet. Not that she expected him to be mad really.

She walked into the bar and tugged at his hand, "C'mon Nicky." He looked around and she smiled, it just looked like a fun place to be in. Everyone was chattering and having a good time. He offered to get a drink and she nodded, "Can you get me a mango margarita? Pleeease," Kadi smiled at him. It was all about having fun and she hadn't gotten a drink at all while she was working.

He gave her a quick nod before heading towards the bar, hoping she would find them somewhere to sit - or stand. He really needed some alcohol - preferably a lot - in his blood if he was going to be able to man up to go out on that dance floor. ''A beer and a mango margarita.'', he said and held up the bills towards the bartender. He tapped his fingers against the disk and shook his head followed by a chuckle. Man, she really owed him for this one. As the bartender gave him the drinks, he turned around and headed straight back to his lovely lady.

As he finally reached, gave her the margarite and was about to plant a kiss on her cheek, he could feel his arm being tugged and he looked over his shoulder. ''Uh, hi?'', he asked the brunette who was tugging his arm, clearly trying to get his attention. ''Niiiickkkk!'', the girl squeaked and jumped up and down. Obviously, she was quite drunk. Nick sent Kadi a confused look. He had no idea who this chick was, but the thought of her possible being some old night stand crossed his mine. ''Hey....Yoou?'', he tried nervously and turned back to the brunette. ''I'm kind of in the middle of something here, so if you wouldn't mind.'', he began and pulled his arm out of the girl's grip while taking a step back. The brunette turned her gaze towards Kadi and cocked her head to the side all the while pouting her lips. ''Booooo. Brunettes are more fun you know. Well, you already do, don't cha Nicholas?'' She was clearly trying to push a few buttons with Kadi, and Nick wasn't quite sure how to handle the whole thing.

Kadence made her way through the crowd of bystanders and sought out a table for them. She found one that was on the second row away from the dancefloor. It gave them a good view (for Nick to get some lessons) and she took a seat in one of the chairs at the table. She couldn’t help but be extremely excited because the music alone was so fun, she was so ready to dance! And with Nick, she couldn’t believe he was actually going to go through with this. Even if he did need a good amount of alcohol in his system to do it.

He reached the table, having found her among the crowd and handed her the margarita she asked for. Just as he leaned in to give her a kiss on the cheek, she noticed a girl at his arm, tugging at him. Kadi took a sip of her margarita and watched everything play out. Her grip tightened on the glass and her jaw clenched. It was clear that Nick didn’t remember her and it was probably good that he didn’t. She was desperate and drunk, two things that were always a pathetic combination. If it wasn’t for the fact that she was going after Kadence’s boyfriend, she might have felt some form of sympathy for the girl. Nick took a step away from the girl and closer to her which made her less irritable towards him and a lot more towards the brunette.

When she started commenting about brunettes being more fun, Kadi set her margarita down and stood up. “Excuse me? Look hun, if you don’t get your face out of my view in like two seconds, I’m going to rip it off, okay?” She said in a sickly sweet tone. Jealousy was probably the worst trait she had and right now her jealousy was raging.

At the moment Kadi stood up and opened her mouth, Nick took a step backwards and lifted his arms in surrender. Now this, this was beyond his expertise. This was certainly not something he was used to - or had even experienced before. The brunette waved her hand at Kadi and snapped it, doing that weird thing girls sometimes did with their head - which Nick didn't really get. ''Ooh, someone's a little touchy.'', she chuckled and pushed Kadi's chest. ''I'd love to see you fucking try, you fat bitch.'' After the push, Nick put his arm protectivly in front of Kadi and looked down at the brunette. ''I don't know what your problem is, and I really don't care - but touch my girlfriend one more time and I'll make fucking sure you'll regret it.'', Nick said with a threatening, serious tone. The brunette shifted her gaze upwards and smiled her sweetest smile. ''You'd never hit a woman, dear. That much we both know.'', she said and glared towards Kadi once more. ''No, that's correct. I don't hit women, but as far as I can see from your behaviour; You're not one.'' The girl rolled her eyes at him. ''Whatever.'', she pushed her way through the mass of people and disappered in the crowd.

While shaking his head and putting his arm comforting around Kadi's shoulder he placed a kiss on her temple. ''Sorry about that.'', he whispered. He felt incredible guilty for how the way he acted in the past - if he had even slept with that chick - had to affect the date with Kadi. He didn't wanna ruin their night, and he sure as hell didn't want to ruin Kadi's mood.
