Idalia needed a drink. Her visions had been coming rapid fire today. For that she was glad because the models had been looking like spaghetti and refusing to agree on anything. Finally after what felt like forever they had managed to get a relatively good forecast for the weekend. Temperatures could be a little off but they had gotten the precipitation spot on. Of that Idalia was sure. It was going to rain all weekend. So she might as well start it out drinking. Sometimes she hated having the last say in the forecast, it was a lot of responsibility for one person, but it was no different than the role of any one in her position at any other weather station. Occasionally she wondered if her colleagues despised her for rising in the ranks so quickly. Did they think it was only because of her power? Which wouldn't exactly be wrong, but she had proven herself long ago that she could look at any weather map and know the forecast without a vision. She was just good at it.
The problem was that despite knowing what was going to happen, like everything in the future the weather was subject to change. She didn't have a one hundred percent accuracy which wasn't infuriating except when her co-workers decided to rub it in. She sighed and decided to get herself looking decent and drink away her troubles. It made her think of school again, well she wasn't quite so young anymore. Well, still young but it was hard to think of a time when she was younger than she is now. She was letting her hair down and praying it would behave. Her silver heels complimented the black and silver short dress she had picked out. She was just hoping that none of her dog's fur had decided to stick to the dress. It had been a while since she'd gone out. Going out on her own wasn't something that happened very frequently but she was starting to take more risks, she might even give out her number. She laughed at herself, that was crazy talk actually.
She walked to the bar and ordered a minty drink from the bartender. She smiled leaning against her elbows on the bar. This was a pleasant place, a nice atmosphere, good music that wasn't so loud she couldn't hear her own thoughts. She could spend an hour or so here. But that would depend on how drunk she wanted to get and who there was to talk to. Running a hand nervously through her hair she smiled giving the bar tender a thank you as she took her drink and sipped at it. She would definitely have to drink something harder if she wanted to get drunk but this was a good warm up drink. When something like shots of tequila came into the picture that was generally Idalia's sign to stop drinking.
