His Thor reference nearly made her just die in the middle of the street. She couldn’t believe Riley, snarky, irritatingly jerkish, Riley had made an Avengers reference. About Thor’s hammer nonetheless. She wondered if maybe, just maybe he was a lot different than he let on. Who knew, maybe he loved the Avengers just as much as she did, though that was quite the long shot.
Layla could think of something that might make Riley enjoy the rain a bit more. She’d always wanted a scene like in that cheesy chick-flick (that she didn’t particularly like, mind you) where they practically made out in the rain. It seemed like, when looking at it logically, a dumb idea seeing as how you could get sick, but looking at it romantically, well she was curious. And secretly, that was why she didn’t want to take shelter. She felt the rain coming down slowly and was glad she went a little lighter on the makeup so that it wouldn’t run down her face as much. Just as she went to answer him, his phone rang and she stood there awkwardly as he answered it.
By the sound of his voice, he was freaking out. Not in the way she had heard before, since he wasn’t really yelling, but he was worried. Really worried. Her eyebrows pulled together and as he turned saying that he had to leave, she frowned. Looks like she was on her own, finding her way home without running into anyone else that was freaky. But then he invited her to come and she nodded, “Yeah, I wouldn’t mind.” Anything was better than going home to find her parents sitting there all stern and judgmental. She started walking, not really wanting to waste any time, the girl didn’t sound very old by the way Riley was freaking out about it.
