Might've lost the back (Devon)

It was just about time for everything to get back into the traditional full on school year swing, but Lia felt like she was already there. She hadn’ done as much traveling this summer as she would have liked, and instead focused more on trying to repair her deeply damaged house and trying to get her students started early so that way when the year started they could put more focus on academics. During her own training there had not been so much emphasis on doing well in classes, but the best minds were the well rounded ones. Plus, if you could focus in class that was a good step towards focusing in general.

Lia took a look around the training room. She was satisfied that everything was in order, for now at least. She stepped out and locked the door behind her, taking half a step back as she closed it and found herself almost slipping. She held onto the door handle and steadied herself and then lifted her foot. The culprit of her slippage was an earring, which had gotten trapped between the hard sole of her shoe and the tile floor. She reached down and picked it up, turning it over in her hand. She didn’t readily recognize it, but it hadn’t been there when she had arrived this morning and it hadn’t been there around lunch. Maybe it’s owner was still nearby.

She walked down the hall of training rooms, but most of them seemed to be dark. Then, near the end of the hall she saw one with a light on. She knocked quickly and then opened the door. “Hey, is this your ear… oh…”

The badger slowly trotted down the corridor with a quiet stream of frustrated sounding noises in its wake. Devon's head was still a little woolly from the night before, which wasn't really conductive to hugely profitable days, but he was nothing if not stubborn. Wednesdays were for practice and so practice he would, even if each step was getting more bothersome than the one before it. He had long ago got the hang of changing his form without any real hassle, but the one thing he had never quite perfected was his ability to reform his clothing without some form of cockup.

He was letting his paws guide him, focussing instead on exactly what piece of clothing would be where when he retook his normal shape. He concentrated hard, and then a few moments later stopped and looked down. His shirt was on back to front, again, but otherwise he seemed to be mostly correct. He didn't notice that his earring had gotten misplaced. He rarely did until it was too late. Focussing again, the Brit shrank down as pale skin morphed into sandy-brown fur and the stoat pattered into the training room purely because the door was open with the light on and he was curious.

Noting that the room was empty, Devon decided to make the most of the quiet space and started to run across the room as quickly as his stubby little legs would take him. He focussed, concentrated really hard, then shifted... and let out a distressed yelp and stumbled onto his knees as his feet strongly protested his Converse reappearing on the wrong feet. Devon scrabbled to get the shoes off before they disfigured his toes, and succeeded at getting one of them off and launched at the nearest wall in frustration just as a woman appeared in the doorway. Battling the other shoe off, Devon looked up at her with a pained expression. “Shit, sorry. I didn't see you there.”
