All the sweet things! (Roomies)

Rain sat laid on her bed, cuddling with Ribbon her bunny. She hadn’t having nothing to do on a Sunday, but also feeling like not doing anything either. She could easily make plans, or go do something, but she really didn’t feel like it. She groaned loudly, no would hear it, except Ribbon, because her door was closed, and it was a boredom groan… She blew air softly into Ribbon’s face, who was now laying on Rain’s chest. Rain giggled as the bunny sneezed and moved it’s little nose.

Oh! Now she knew what she could do. “Hey, Ribbon! Wanna make cookies with me? Well obviously you can’t make them, but you can just be my buddy while I make them. Let’s go.” It was better than sitting around doing nothing. Well, she did have some home work she still wanted to get done, but she can do that later. She scooted Ribbon on to the bed, got up off the bed, then picked Ribbon up and headed into the common room. She always had stuff to make sweet things with, because she liked bring River stuff that would make him happy. Cookies, brownies, all of the above sweets did the trick.

Setting Ribbon on the ground, she started digging out everything she would need, flour, sugar, eggs, bowls, cookie sheets. Yes she was making these from scratch.

Flynn was having a lazy day, even though that wasn’t too much of a surprise anymore. He often plopped down on his bed and would randomly check the internet or watch a soap. This Sunday was no different. While he had the option of heading home, he didn’t exactly feel like going there. His parents were out of town that weekend, so it would be way more lonely than staying at Hammel itself. While the idea to throw a party had struck him, in the end he did not feel like organizing anything. So he just stayed at the dorms, keeping his bed warm whenever he wasn’t aimlessly roaming about.

When sound out of the common room reached his ears, the young male perched up glanced at his door for a second. Deciding that, hey, he should get off his lazy bum, Flynn swung legs out of the bed and rose. He tugged a dark blue hoodie from his desk chair and tugged it on over his head while stepping out of the room. His eyes first drifted to Rain, but then they fell down to Ribbon and a soft smile curled his lips. Bending down, he picked the fluffy animal up from the floor. “What are you making? Rabbit with prunes?” Of course he was joking and it was obvious when he rose Ribbon in front of his nose, grinning at the little creatures. “You’re lucky that you’re cute.”

Slowly and carefully he placed it down again. Then he stepped over to Rain, effortlessly glancing over her shoulder. “Ooooooh, cookies.” He paused. “For River?” She often made baked goods for her brother. It wouldn’t exactly surprise him anymore, but he did make a mental note to make sure she made some for him as well.

Rain always had her hands full, always trying to do something. She liked being active, whether it was baking sweets, making clothes, doing art projects, or doing club activities; there was always something she could do. When there wasn’t? Then just like Flynn she would just sit in her room and watch tv while she snuggled with Ribbon. She has never been to a party before, she wondered a few times if she should try to go to at least one; just to say she had. But always changed her mind, thinking she wouldn’t fit in.

The small girl giggled when she saw Flynn come out of his dorm. “I haven’t even put the cookies in the oven and you already smell them!” Actually she hadn’t even started to make them… “That’s mean! I wouldn’t never do that!” Even though she tried to go vegan on and off for years now, and was currently not vegan or vegetarian there were still certain animals she would not even think about eating! And yes, one of those animals being Rabbits, and other one being frogs. “He’s very lucky. He’s also lucky to have a owner that would never do that to him!” She stuck her tongue out at Flynn.

Of course he could see over her shoulder without even trying; she was only five foot one. “Hmm??? Nope not for River this time.” She had made him some the other day, if he ate them all already was totally his fault. He could wait till about next week, it would serve him right. Not to mention he didn’t need all of the sugar anyways. “This batch is actually for you and Izzy…”

Flynn had smirked. Of course he wouldn’t eat Ribbon. Rain would kill him. Or at least would want to, but that simple fact said enough. The guy couldn’t really imagine her ever getting too mad, yet that was luck he should not push. “Sometimes I wonder if pandas eat bunnies.” Okay, maybe he would give it a little playful poke. Nevertheless, the grin remained and soon he stepped over and was pleasantly surprised to hear that this batch of cookies was not for her brother! “Oh? Must be my reward for being the bestest roomie ever.” It was more than normal that people would praise him. Cookies were the start. A trophy would follow at one point.

Spinning around, the panda shifter headed to the couch and plopped down on it, splaying himself all over it as feet dangled over the arm rest. An arm was tucked under the back of his head as he gazed up at the ceiling. “You’re not going to poison them, right?” He would have prodded himself on his elbows, but eh. He figured it would make sense that those words were meant for her. Flynn had all faith in her though. After all, why would anyone want to kill him? “How was your Christmas btw? You didn’t tell me about what you got yet!” Which reminded him of the wrapped present under his bed.

Perhaps Rain would think that would be weird though. Like, why would he buy her a gift? He mainly feared that it might make the girl feel bad if she had not bought him anything. Hence it made him kind of reluctant to go and pluck it from underneath the bed.

Rain probably wouldn’t kill him but she would never talk to Flynn, ever. She didn’t get mad, more like held grudges and be sad. “Panda’s are carnivores, though their diet mostly conceits of bamboo.” She did a lot of research on Pandas when she found out Flynn shifted into them. “If they do eat meat it’s either birds, or rodents.” She was pretty sure that places where Pandas live rarely have rabbits. “Eh, more like I made River too many…” She joked, Flynn was one of the best roommates, and wouldn’t trade him for anyone, but she wasn’t going to tell him that unless he asked. His ego was too big as it was, if it gets any bigger his head would probably explode.

Watching Flynn sit on the couch made her frown. She had thought maybe he would have helped… Not that she minded, but she would have liked it. “Poison them with what? I don’t have anything, if I did I would…” She pouted, she wasn’t telling the truth, she wouldn’t poison them ever, maybe put laxative in them… But that would be bad too, and she didn’t have any. “Oh I didn’t get very much. Ribbon got some toys from River, and I got a plant from my cousin. And two cactus rabbits from two friends of mine. What about you?” She really wondered where he had been at Christmas, she didn’t see him around to give him his present. “my Christmas was fine though, I spent the morning with my brother and cousins, then went to the Bishop Christmas party. What did you do?” She didn’t buy him anything though, she made it, she tended to make everyone’s gifts, she thought it would mean more that way.

Flynn chuckled at the information that flowed from his roomie’s lips. Clearly someone had been doing research. The thing was… Rain did seem to forget about one tiny detail. “Did that book or site also tell you that people usually don’t shift into pandas? And what makes them different from normal pandas when they do?” Because Flynn did keep his human mind when transforming into the animal. If he felt like eating a rabbit, he quite easily could. Of course bamboo would still be his most favorite because the panda instinct was there as well, but yeah. The guy liked to think he could make decisions like that. “Besides, it’s easier to catch Ribbon than it is to catch a bird or rodent around here.”

For a second he paused while sitting down. “Oh, so I’m only getting some because River already got enough of them?” With a smirk on his lips, Flynn lay down. He could have helped Rain make the cookies, but it didn’t really sound like a lot of fun. With legs dangling off the couch, the guy folded arms behind his head. “I went home for Christmas and then spent the evening with some friends. Mom bought me some socks and shirts.” Flynn was no major fan of shopping, so while some might judge it to be stupid gifts, he loved them. “Anyway, how was the Bishop party?”

Rain just blinked at Flynn, very speechless, was the boy really planning to eat Ribbon? She stopped what she was doing, her eyes started to water a little at the thought of losing her baby. “but..” She said in a very small voice. She looked at Ribbon, a little scared for the rabbit’s life. When Flynn wasn’t looking from where he sat on the couch, she picked Ribbon up and quietly put the rabbit in her room, slowly closing the door so it wouldn’t make a sound. Then went back to her baking. She didn’t feel comfortable letting Ribbon out of her room now…

Again, Flynn had made Rain speechless, “I… Well.. No… I would have made you some regardless..” She shuffled her feet, and looked down at the cookie dough she had almost finished. She wiped her check with her floured hand after a tear had escaped her eye. She felt awful now… She shouldn’t have mentioned River… She was an awful friend. But she always kept the cookie stash full (so no one should complain). “Oh that’s nice.” She nodded, even though he wasn’t paying attention, she was really to sad now to have a full conversation. “It was nice.” She smiled, her cheeks flushing as she thought about the twins, and their wonderful gifts. “They had a tree house… It was sad.. But other than that it was fun. So many people were there though. It was a bit overwhelming.”
