Katy wasn't sure about this... Not only was she feeling like her brain had been soaked in menthol, but the fact that she was sat at a bar in a nightclub with loud music playing in the background didn't help. But Brooke had brought her here, so Katy could at least try to enjoy herself.

The funny thing was, Katy had a lot of things in common with most of the people there. She took pills on a daily basis to try and enjoy herself more, she didn't want to be there and she had gotten in with a fake ID. Katy sighed as she looked down at her Pina Colada in front of her. She didn't feel very tropical, but she brought it up to her lips and took a sip anyway. Usually she would love a cocktail, but at the moment she just saw it as a way for people to forget about life for a night. What was the point? Life would just come flooding back in the morning and your head would feel awful as well. Alcohol was a temporary solution for a lifelong problem: life. But that didn't stop Katy from drinking it.

Seventeen days since she crashed.

It felt like a lifetime. And yet it was already over.

Not that it was over.

Brooke was just trying to feel normal again and that involved a lot of forcing herself to go out even. Sean had been patient with her and gotten her back on track again….he always did. Astley had come looking for her and stayed with the fallen girl for as long as she needed her. It was amazing that she hadn't completely ditched her yet. And Katy Bishop had been kind enough to invite her out to the mall when she needed a distraction.

Now, even though Brooke wasn't at a hundred percent yet, she extended that hand to Katy in return. Two fake IDs later, Brooke and Katy were sitting beside one another at the bar, suckling on a couple of cocktails. The event for the evening was, Boy Watching. "Tha'sa cutie one there, ain 't?" Brooke pointed at one of the boys who just walked in. "Wha'cha thinkin'?" She cocked her head at the other girl as she sucked down her frozen margarita.

Katy glanced over to the guy. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't anything special. She half-heartedly replied to Brooke, "Yeah, he's all right. I guess..." But it was what she said next that made her think.

"Wa'cha thinking?"

There a few things Katy could answer with. She could either tell Brooke a complete lie, some fabrication which was more socially acceptable than the real thing, or she could tell her the truth, a long winded, boring version. She decided to go with the latter.

"I was thinking about drugs, drink and the inevitability of the waking world. You?" Katy sighed again, then spoke softly the bartender. "Two more of those, please."

Maaan, Katy really wasn't into this at all......well, neither was Brooke, but at least Brooke could pretend to be at least a few degrees lighter on the color wheel. Luckily, Brooke had many o' years experience in that particular activity, even before she became "blessed" by this "holy" gift from "God". It wa'n't from God, that's for sure.

Brooke rose her eyebrows and peered up into her skull. "Prolly of things a smidgen less cosmic, but..." Her eyes scanned the bar-room. "Also that the pickin's from this joint're a bit sorry." Brooke's thoughts were....not something she liked to share. Aside from them being like a tireless racehorse running the tracks round 'n round again(and even if the horse wasn't tired, it sure was exhausting to Brooke), they were full of mostly......shame. Resentment. Self-loathing. She turned and slapped the 'tender with a large bill. "'Nother for me, too," she instructed. None of her regular party friends were here, so there was little to distract her with.

"They got karaoke. Wanna toss one in? You'd prolly wow 'em like a pro-fessional."

A good analogy, the infinite racehorse. Apart from the medication. A better analogy might be a drugged up racehorse. Constantly running around and around, with moments where it's in the lead and moments where it's at the back. Powered by small white lumps of bitter dust, driving it on to it's next day, giving it energy to keep running in the endless race, not sure when the race would end. Some wished, wanted the race to e d, but the majority kept running.

It was that analogy that made Katy get up from her stool at the bar, gulp down her drinks (not a great idea) and put a piece of the paper people called currency on the bar. "All right, let's sing some karaoke."
Katy was feeling a little better. And a little light headed. A funny warmth was spreading through her, feeling strange against the numbness of her heart. Maybe the alcohol had clouded her mind slightly (t wouldn't be the first time) but Katy actually found herself walking over to the machine. Admittedly, it was a little lacklustre, but it was a start.

Brooke flashed a smile too wide to be genuine. "Great! Knock 'em outta th' park, sweetie!" No idea where the sweetie came from.

Following behind Katy, Brooke continued to nurse her newly obtained margarita(she was a tequila girl, it made her clothes fall off), and peered over Katy's shoulder once they had gotten to the machine. "Gotta song in mind?" Brooke had several. "Do ya take requests?"

Surely the both of them would be in a more "get 'em an' grab 'em" mood after a few songs(and drinks). Endorphins man. They were a thing.
