What am I doing? Dawn walked to the training grounds with a pair of scissors in one hand and a towel in the other. She was not really understanding exactly what she was doing, but she knew it wasn't anything good. She sighed and sat down on the ground while staring at the scissors intently.

I am going to do it. I am going to cut the toe off. She sighed and placed the green towel on the ground in front of her feet. Then she started to take her shoes off. She was so nervous. She loved her body and here she was taking it off. Most people would wonder what the crap she was doing, but nobody was around..strangely. She looked around her just to make sure though. 

This was the training grounds so she didn't think it was a bad idea to find out anyway. She gulped and kept looking at her pinky toe. She saw it in a show once, but that was a show and this was real life. I am going to ruin my toe. She sighed shakily and slowly put the scissors around her toe and very slowly closed the scissors around her toe, then she paused.

"Holy jesus fuck what are you doing?" Okay so swearing wasn't his normal affair - he did it when he was feeling comfortable, yes, but this was exactly the opposite of 'comfortable' - this chick looked like she was about to trim her toenails. Except, not her toenails. Her whole freaking toe. He wasn't intentionally in the training room - the boy wasn't paired with a trainer yet, so he was mostly just kind of... exploring.

He wasn't aware he'd be exploring Crazy Girl Pedicure land.

"Just put the scissors down, and we can get you something better. Like a shoe or something." Oh god, he needed to go get Dean or someone who could do something better than he could. Right now, his skills consisted of freaking out, soccer, and dropping the temperature in the room by degrees. He wasn't super cold, but he was definitely cooler than he needed to be.

He wasn't going to touch her, but damn, what did you do when crazy girl had scissors ready to chop off limbs? Well, not entire limbs, but yeah, same principle.

She was about to do it when she heard it, the cussing. This caused her to slowly look up with a glare. Who did he think he was interrupting her with such harsh words? She just stared for what seemed like forever at the guy. This was the last thing she needed, some guy cussing at her.

She slowly got up with the scissors now in one hand. She was still glaring at him and the scissors were now snipping at the air, slowly but a little threatening. Then she heard the rest of what he said and slowly smirked at him. This was getting amusing, maybe she should just let him keep talking? "I was experimenting with my gift."

Then she felt relieved, finally. She didn't want to cut her toe off, she just wanted to experiment. She looked down at her toe and back up at the person as if she was trying to side on if she should just do it. Of course she was just messing with the guy now. She wasn't going to cut her toe off, not until she asked a professor if she was able to grow them back. "What's your gift?" Might as well get this talking thing over with so she could leave. She never was one who liked talking to people like this.

"Okay, is your 'gift' something along the lines of being a drunk frat boy? Because you were about to cut off your toe. That counts for like ten points in a frat hazing handbook. Since you're probably not joining one of those, you really don't have to take the first step." He knew he had to sound kind of wiggy, but again, he was just coming in to the part of the conversation where she was going to remove something. 

The topic shift was not entirely unnecessary, especially considering she was armed and... possibly psychotic. 

Scissors and all. 

She wanted to know what his 'gift' was. "I kill people. Not really much of a gift, when you think about it." Of course, he was a little amped, and so he might be exaggerating a little bit. That wasn't all he did - that was just the end result. He couldn't help it any more than he could help breathing, or... other things. He shook his head a bit. 

"Sorry. New to this whole 'everyone is a superhero' thing. But if you were going for some sort of 'hurt yourself to see what happens' deal? Why cut something off" He lifted his hand from one of his pockets, where the nice bandage was still properly displayed. "That way they can fix it with minimal surgery if... whatever you're trying to do backfires." Some people ( like him ) didn't get a say when his power kicked on or off - at least not yet. What if she cut off a toe and was just... toeless girl from now on?

He shuddered to think of it.

What did he just say? Her jaw clinched and she slowly walked towards him with the scissors gripped tightly. "Did you just call me a frat boy? A drunk frat boy? I despise judgemental brats..." She then smirked at him and placed the scissors on near her arm. She loved scaring people, and this would definitely do it.

"You kill people?" She shook her head and walked towards him scissors still near her arm. " I can't die, that is my beautiful and amazing gift...I meant specifically. I-" She pointed to herself with the scissors. "heal wayyyyyyyyy too fast." Then she pointed to him. "You?"

That is when she did it, with a huge smirk on her face. She hoped he would scream and run off or something, not because she was a jerk, but because she liked seeing how people reacted. Then she sliced her arm and showed the arm towards him. It slowly healed, except for the blood. "I believe my blood will leave me, but it comes back...just slowly." She then dropped her arm and looked at him seriously. "You shouldn't hate your gift, it comes in handy. You kill people on accident, that's good, means you can kill a bad guy if you wanna...or a good guy if that makes you happy."

He tilted his head a little, not looking particularly amused. She called him a judgmental brat? 

"Okay - everyone judges. That's just the way we are. But hey, don't act like a drunk frat boy, won't get called a drunk frat boy." He said, whatever panic had been in his voice was gone, now. The crisis was averted, and she was not looking particularly in danger - but she was acting like she wasn't in the wrong here. Maybe she wasn't - but as far as he was concerned, she had managed to trip into 'crazy' territory. Not quite Kodi crazy, but crazy nonetheless.

She put the scissors near her arm, and he crossed his own, unflinching. If she did anything, he'd... do something. But he wasn't going to flinch for her. Not when he could tell that's what she wanted. 

She wanted the specifics of the way his power worked? Well, when he figured it out, she'd get a memo. He shook his head. "I drain heat from stuff. People." He didn't know if her inability to die would do anything for her when it came to him - but he didn't care. He wasn't the type to try and hurt her, or anyone else for that matter. 

Then... she did it. She cut right in to her arm. 

If it had been before - when he first got here - he might have blanched, or even looked more pale. But after working with Kieron, blood... wasn't as big a deal as it once was. "Dad's a nurse, and I wanted to be an EMT. Blood doesn't bug me." He said, though he watched with a limited sort of interest as her arm was fixing itself. 

"Sorry. When you put the people you love in the hospital because you touched them? You don't really call it a gift any more. I don't want to hurt anyone. Good, bad, or indifferent. Not if I can help it."

She was shocked, this guy had guts. She smiled at him and shook her head. "I'm impressed." She wasn't so impressed that she would help him if his life was in danger though...unless he had chocolate, and she doubted that one. She sighed, getting bored and looked at him for no apparent reason.

"I like practicing with my gift. My sister gave me this drink that she thought was poisoned, it was." She started to laugh and shake her head. "I ended up foaming out of my mouth and almost passing out. I must admit though, cyanide don't have much of a taste. Anyway, I guess I put my own self on the line a lot."

She then started looking at his pockets. Maybe they could become friends if he had chocolate, she wanted some. "Got any chocolate?" She then just started looking at her fingers and shifting from foot to foot. That was the only way she could tell that they would be friends, unless he tripped a lot or something, but she doubted it.

He quirked a brow at her blatant declaration. She was impressed..? Because he said something that might be misconstrued as rude? ( Okay, it was totally rude. ) That didn't make much sense to him, but he'd go with it. She seemed to have no real grasp on the here and now. Was that part of her power? She healed, but couldn't maintain a solid grip? Most people had some sort of additional weirdness that came from what they did - his own body temperature was naturally about twelve degrees higher than normal people, for instance. 

She... just seemed disconnected. He couldn't tell if it was meta related, or if she was simply that apathetic?

Someone who had effective immortality shouldn't be so uncaring. The things she could do for others? 

"That's stupid." He said, simply, at her explanation of her poison-story. Benton... he was usually pretty outgoing. The whole 'moving in to school' thing had thrown him for a loop, considering he was from North Dakota and Vermont was ages away... but he was getting better. He could be blunt when he was talking to people, even though he usually just stuck to being pleasant. That wasn't going to work here.

"What happens when you mess up? You're not doing cute little things like cutting your arm. If you don't know what'll happen, why risk it? Are you going to set yourself on fire, see if that works? Are you that interested in figuring out how to kill yourself?" He shoved his hands in his pockets again, no longer feeling the need for a defensive stance. She had scissors, sure, but unless she thought she could get away with something, she wasn't going to use them.

"You're an idiot for putting yourself at risk like that. Call me judgmental all you want, but eventually, you might find something that'll do the trick. And no, I don't have any chocolate."

He didn't know her. But someone who had a nurse for a dad, and wanted to help people with the rest of his life - if he could? Not knowing her didn't matter. All he knew was that if she was throwing herself into the fire, eventually something might stick.

This guy confused the crap out of her. Most people would not act this way, well she really wouldn't know. It was very recent that she noticed that she healed too fast. She shook her head and rolled her eyes at him. "I did the fire thing yesterday, it burned too much. Other than that it didn't do much..once I got out that is." She shrugged her shoulders and folded her arms together.

He was making since, not like she would listen though. She wasn't wanting to act the other way that she knew would happen. What if she gained depression once she stopped experimenting? She didn't like the fact that she could still feel pain and that this guy was making since...and that he didn't have chocolate.

"Fine...what's your name?" She then looked away, not really understanding what to do at the moment. Should she just walk off? She was finding out the hard way that her gift had major negative consequences, such as sadness. What if she went crazy?

His desire to call her a smart-ass was definitely building up. She was pointedly saying things that were more or less designed to throw him off. Was she doing that on purpose, or did she think it was funny? His eyes never left her, as she simply crossed her arms over her shoulders, and took a stance of inaction. She wasn't listening. She didn't care.

He couldn't help that.

"Benton. But it doesn't matter. I'm not hanging around someone with a death wish." He said, with a soft shrug of his shoulders. "If you want to off yourself, that's all you. But if you don't want to off yourself? Stop trying." He said, simply, already starting to walk towards the exit - so beyond her. He didn't even know why she was here - her power seemed completely harmless. What lack of control did she have?

Well. Maybe it wasn't all about controlling powers, after all. Personalities sometimes needed fine-tuning, too.

She lookes sharply at him with a shocked facial expression. Who said she had a death wish? That just blew her off. For a bit she just watched him leave, but then she couldn't help herself. She walked towards him and tapped him on his shoulder. He had hit a nerve, she wasn't mad though she was sad.

"I don't believe in suicide. I believe it is dumb, I can't help my curiosity. I want to know what I can and cannot do. I am not doin' anythin' that will kill myself. A pinky toe? I was scared to do it. I don't want to have one less toe. The reason I did that was because I wanted to see if it would grow back. When you stopped me I was relieved."

Then she folded her arms and knew she would probably follow him. He had struck a deep nerve in the pit of her stomach. This meant that he hit home. She didn't and wasn't going to admit it, but she was his friend now...strangely. "I think one of my gift's...effects? is sadness or depression. I don't like it.." She then sighed with a roll of the eyes toward the ground. Her foot slowly made an eight on the floor. "May I follow you?.."

She tapped his shoulder, and he flinched away from the contact, spinning on his heel. Had he not just told her he killed people?! His jaw set, as he looked at her, as she tried to convince him that she was either sane, or hell, maybe call him an ass and tell him to buzz off.

Don't believe in suicide? Think it's dumb? Not doing anything that will kill herself? So cyanide poisoning wasn't lethal, usually? Setting one's self on fire didn't count as suicidal? He understood curiosity - after all, he wanted to know how his ability worked, too. but this? This was too much.

"Someone shouldn't have to stop you. That fear? That's human. No one wants to get hurt." Of course she'd been relieved - she still had all her toes. If it hadn't grown back? She would have maimed herself for life. He couldn't remember exactly, but he was fairly certain he'd read an article online about how the pinky toe was either the most necessary... or least necessary toe. Ah well. The point was, hers was still attached.

She added something he wasn't sure how to respond to. So far, the side-effects he'd seen of people's powers had all been physical. Could a side-effect be mental? Especially considering her power was clearly physical? He didn't know.

He shrugged. "Sure. I'm heading to the cafeteria." Being as hot as he was had its disadvantages, too - he had to eat more. Ah well. "If you think your depression is coming from your ability, you should talk to some of the trainers. They may be able to help." Not that he knew any - it was just a theory. He hadn't been 'placed' yet. "Until you get one, I'd leave off the experimenting, if I were you."

She smiled at him and nodded her head. "Thank you. I also am almost always hungry, but I was born that way." She chuckled with a small smirk and started heading towards the cafeteria. What was she doing?! She didn't really know why she was getting attached to someone who obviously meant to hurt her feelings. Maybe he did not mean to? She didn't know.

"Training? How do you train something that is always unwilling? It's not like I am going to start slow healing myself or somethin'." She sighed and kept walking. Then she thought what she said might have been rude so she slowed her walking pace to go beside him. "Sorry, I don't like help that's all. I know I...n-nee..need it though." That was so hard to say!

"Maybe the chocolate milk will be in full view this time!" She jumped up and down and ran towards the cafeteria doors. It was amazing how quick her attitude could change. Chocolate was her life, without she would go in slow depression and probably never get out of bed.

He glanced at her, uncertainly.

"I can't answer that. I've only been here a couple of days, I don't have a trainer, and my ability seems pretty much always-on, too." He replied, wishing he could give her something else to think of. "But I'm sure they've had people with your ability before, and mine, too. So it's not crazy to think we'll get paired up with someone who knows how to deal with it."

He rubbed his chin. She did have a point. Wasn't this place designed to train people to use their powers? Her issue didn't seem world-threatening or anything... so why had she been brought here? To learn how to get hurt? That didn't make much sense to him.

Maybe he'd actually look in to it, later.

Benny just nodded. "Trust me, I understand. No one likes help, especially when it comes to personal stuff. But no one ever regrets getting help after the fact." Or at least, he was certainly hoping not. He would hate it if he regretted getting help for his... issue. Rubbing the back of his head, he watched as she darted towards the cafeteria.

Okay, maybe chocolate addiction was part of her ability, too? He couldn't help but snicker as he followed her through the doors. He spotted some professional looking sandwiches, and smiled - okay, sandwiches were secretly one of his favorite things to eat. It wasn't classy, but they were simple and delicious, so there. He grabbed a couple onto a tray, and slipped off to his regular seat, where she could either join him, or... you know, not. He wouldn't force her to do anything.

Chocolate!! She was so excited. She practically flew towards the chocolate milk cartons and grabbed three of them. Then she looked at the food and paused, sandwiches? She sighed and just sat by Ben. "Sandwiches? I could make that in my room..." She shrugged her shoulders and placed her tray down finally. Then she opened the first carton.

"You know...it's not that bad to be addicted to chocolate. There are other things that are worse, like drugs and alcohol." She nodded her head and drank some of the milk. It was so good. "Although I do get pretty hyper..." She smirked and ate some of the sandwich. "Ain't half bad actually..."
