It's not like he was friends with many of them, anyway....
A chilly Monday afternoon had classes out for the day and most people inside or bundled up so it was nearly impossible to tell who they were. Much more than usual, everyone seemed to have a destination and they were using the courtyard as a means to an end rather than as a hangout spot. This was perfectly fine by Charlie, who didn't mind the cooler weather in the slightest. While most people (especially the pyros) were wearing jackets and pants and beanies and bundled to the brim, Charlie was wearing a comfy pair of sweatpants and a long-sleeve baby blue shirt.. And shoes.. and of course all of the things that go underneath clothing.. But compared to most everyone else she'd seen, Charlie was practically naked. Hardly a soul had looked at her, and none of them had said a word or held their gaze in her direction for any real amount of time. Awesome. It was a good time to read.
Charlie did that a lot.. Find an inconspicuous place, sit down, chill, and read. Cold days meant that there were a lot more places that weren't crowded, and.. for the moment, Charlie had picked a nice paved spot next to a wall. Anyone coming aught to be able to see her if they were looking where they were going, and she was protected from the harsher bits of the breeze. She was reading the last book in a series that she had mentioned to Brooke some time ago, and was completely lost in it. All hell had broken loose, good and evil were fighting between universes on huge ships sailing across time, old ways and new ways were being mixed and combined to defeat the bad guys.. She had read this same scene several times in her life, but it was always one that sucked her right into the story.
As such, she wasn't paying a lick of attention to any of the bustling people going by, let alone one that she both looked forward to meeting again and dreaded ever laying eyes on again at the same time. And as luck would have it, that someone was approaching at a leisurely pace, seemingly without a care in the world.
