A cool, pleasant Sunday. People were resting up and staying indoors, preparing to get back to classes the following day.. Given that it was cooler than usual, there were fewer people than usual out and about - especially in the fairly open courtyard. No protection from the wind or cold meant that only the brave ones or the ones recruited from up north felt like being outside. That having been said, Kit was kinda both of those things. She also had a wonderfully warm fur coat that covered her entire body from nose to tail. Yeah, tail. Kit was a cat. Kit was usually a cat, actually. Any time she didn't have to be a human, really.. And even then, most of those times she could get away with being a neko, so she still didn't technically have to be a human.

As a matter of fact.. The time Kit most often spent completely human was the time just before she woke to the time she was awake enough to realize that she was completely human. Oh, also grooming.. Showers were no fun with fur, obviously. But anyway, people! There were some, and Kit had been observing them. All of them. It was nice to observe people as a kitty. Too often a person would change how they acted around a new person.. but people very seldom changed how they acted when a random cat showed up. Plus sometimes people were super nice to cats.. and then they got extra kudos. Oh, man.. Sometimes they even had treats for cats! .. It was rare, but so awesome when it happened.

Nobody today had had treats. That was okay, though. Most of them were normal enough. There was one person with the ability to become liquid that was concerned about freezing into an ice sculpture, another with weather manipulation who was hoping to help make it snow soon.. The most interesting one had been a girl with prehensile hair.. hair that happened to be somewhat angry at being kept underneath a beanie. But.. that was it. Kit was bored. She'd gotten some information and some entertainment out of these people, but.. she was thinking about going and grabbing a snack when a sound caught her ears.

It was a sound that most cats had learned quickly to fear. The hollow click-clack of a skateboard coasting down a sidewalk or over paving stones.. Neat! Kit could skateboard half-decently as a person (or neko) but given the vast differences between a cat's body and a human's, she'd never tried skateboarding as a kitty before.. She was doubly excited to find that the skateboarder was, in fact, a girl. And just like that it was decided. Kit was going to either join the girl on her skateboard, or she was going to hijack the skateboard from the girl.. just to see if she could even control it or stay on it as a cat.

When Teagan came in her direction, Kit would pounce, landing on the board right between the girl's feet and hanging on for dear life, looking to the board and the girl's ankles to tell which way to brace to avoid getting flung off the thing...

Teagan coasted down the sidewalk, shoving her purple iPod nano into the pocket of her green camo jacket. It was a windy fall day, getting closer to winter. Teagan could tell because of the nip in the air. It was why she had a hat on, that, and her hair was crazy as usual.

That kind of lux just ain't for us.
We crave a different kind of buzz.

The music pretty much drowned out anything else around her as she skated along, picking up the pace, nearing a cat, although she hadn't noticed.

Teagan wasn't just nearing a cat.. She would be very quickly joined by one. The half-grown cat leaping into the air only to come crashing quickly back down on the board between Teagan's feet... The problem was that there was no suspension on a skateboard.. and when you were hugging it, it basically felt like you were riding a piece of plywood down a very, very pothole-filled road. Not fun, hardly possible, and extremely sketchy.. to say the least.

Not to mention that since Teagan clearly had the weight advantage over a cat, as the girl weaved, the cat was basically at the mercy of inertia.. on top of having to hold on for dear life, she was also having to hold on for dear life. Life was twice as dear and the risk was way, way higher than anticipated and.. basically 'oh crap'.

So, if Teagan hadn't been made aware of the cat on her skateboard via.. watching a cat suicide onto her skateboard, she would likely be aware of the cat at her feet via Kit wrapping her kitty legs around Teagan's leg for all she was worth. The kitty was also mewing rather loudly and desperately.. but ipod. However, the noise was bound to attract the attention of other students nearby.. who would likely try to flag the skateboarder down.

Adrenaline junkie or not, at this point the thing Kit was more worried about was her tail flailing wildly to the side and ending up underneath the wheels of the skateboard. High pain tolerance and ability to shift back to a humanoid or not, broken or smashed tails suuucked.. so if Teagan didn't stop or at least notice her fairly soon, and the students in the courtyard didn't manage to flag her down, Kit would have no choice but to sink her claws into Teagan's leg to get her attention.. And she'd do it if she had to. This had been a very, very bad idea, and it was easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Teagan weaved around obstacles in the courtyard and around many people, mouthing the words to the song. She usually listened to her music when she was skateboarding and on a really loud volume. Her parents used to tell her she'd need hearing aids in a few years.

She'd felt something brush up against her leg and looked down quickly, nearly losing her balance as she caught a glance of fur. There was a cat on her skateboard! She took a headphone out of her ear just in time to hear someone she'd skated past say, "Dude, that girl is skateboarding with a cat."

Welp.. Teagan had taken too long to stop. Kit wasn't dealing with the skateboard thing anymore. Forget it, the thought was over, it was a bad idea, and she was getting off of it... And with a determined leap, Teagan would suddenly find that she had a cat on her back. Literally. Kit would be hanging from her back. Because at least there wasn't weaving or bumps and there was something to get her claws firmly into.

There wasn't much distance from one's back to one's face, though, and since Teagan was reacting a bit slowly, Kit would simply claw her way up to Teagan's shoulder and wave a paw frantically in front of Teagan's face... the universal sign for 'HEY STOP'.. also, who kept skateboarding with a cat on their shoulder waving a paw in their face? ...Seriously.

Meanwhile, the risks were both greater and lessened at the same time. On the good side? There was no chance that from here Kit would be run over by the skateboard.. Broken limbs and tails were a worry of the past. On the negative side, now she was much higher up.. and in prime 'grab-and-throw' territory.. so a fall or being chucked was much more likely to result in road rash and/or possibly.. broken bones. Breaking bones sucked. Hopefully Teagan would stop and try to figure out why the kitty went suicidal instead of flipping out, grabbing it, and throwing it against the nearest wall.

Teagan had finally rolled to a stop and she'd felt claws digging into the back of her jacket, piercing her skin just barely. "Fuck!" She let out, moving erratically. First of all, why would any normal cat jump on her skateboard? That didn't make any sense! No cats she'd known had done that! And besides, how the hell did they think that was a good idea? There was proof it wasn't in how the cat had jumped on her back in fear.

She couldn't even really reach the cat on her back. It was completely difficult, but she reached a hand around, gritting her teeth and felt the fur of the cat as she tried to pull it off of her back.

The still somewhat terrified cat didn't give Teagan much of a chance to grab her. When they had come to a complete stop and Teagen was reaching around, the cat literally leapt toward Teagan's arm, wrapping her legs around it and holding on for dear life.. So when Teagan brought her arm back forward, she would see a cat that was shaking and clinging to her arm like a life raft in a hurricate.. Her eyes were shut tight and even her tail was wrapped around the girl's arm.

Really, skateboarding cat had been the stupidest idea ever. And it had backfired.. so now instead of being a badass, Kit was a wimp who was terrified out of her mind. Oh well, hopefully the skateboarder chick wasn't pissed off enough to chuck the kitty. That would be a really crummy way to end an interaction with a person. Being thrown was no fun.
