"So you're a ballroom ballerina jazzy contemporary..dancer. Neat. That sounds like almost everything.." Charlie had skimmed over the mention that she shouldn't be invisible.. In her mind it made sense that the nicest people should be invisible. That way they went mostly unnoticed, weren't put into situations that would taint them or ruin them and they were that much less likely to have their kindness taken advantage of.. But then again, Charlie didn't see herself as being one of those people who needed to be invisible. She was just shy and a little awkward around people most of the time and was quite comfortable being ignored. Not like Callie. One couldn't be a dancer - especially at her father's 'functions' whatever those were - and also be a wallflower or invisible.
Dancing was supposed to be expression and elegant and.. so many things that Charlie just.. wasn't. "I totally respect dancers and singers and performers, even if I can't relate at all.. I can only imagine having the confidence to do any of that stuff, let alone with my dad watching or in competitions or.. Well all I know about ballet is what you see girls doing in the movies, but that looks really stressful too. A whole room of people you're being compared to and some teacher staring and judging... I couldn't do it. You must be really strong if you can. Like, different kinds of strong. Confident and .. and elegant and stuff. I'm.. not those things. So I say that if you love dancing and sharing your dancing, you should get noticed.. and I'll just stay on the sidelines and give you a hug if you ever don't win when you really should have."
But that was about as far into the whole 'yes I should be invisible' topic as Charlie was going to get without that conversation being prompted. "Messed up? More messed up than giant wings sprouting out of your back that make people hallucinate?" She pondered for a moment and then shrugged. "But if it helps you do what you love.. it's worth it, right?" Nope. Charlie didn't ask. She wasn't going to, either. If Callie wanted to show, Charlie would witness, but she wasn't going to ask for a demonstration. She could offer unjudging companionship, but she wasn't about to go getting curious about something that it seemed to her had been intentionally stepped around. Not now. The point was to make Callie feel better, not to make her awkward.
