Faye didn't know why she cared so deeply about her students. She wasn't one to care deeply about anyone but herself, or that was what she liked to project. She was an ice queen, in every sense of the word and didn't know if she wanted to change. To an outsider, picturing her with a hoard of teenagers teaching them about Romeo and Juliet as well as other classic romances would seem laughable. But here she was. 

Even worse, here she was grading one of her students papers and finding more than one thing wrong with it. How was it possible that he wasn't progressing? He'd done better stuff. This was laziness. 

"Alright class. You're dismissed. Please read act V for our next class and check for homework online." She told them, though didn't plan on assigning anything else. "Oh, and Nate. Can I keep you for a moment?" She asked looking up at the student over her burberry glasses. 

[Nathan Darwin]

Nathan was preoccupied with a lot more than he led on. Feelings, confusion among them, were really starting to screw with his head and he didn't know why he let things get to him so easily. Between Nick, he supposed things were better, but there was still a few things left unspoken between them and Nathan didn't know how to voice his feelings to the older Darwin. Sure, he could talk to Kadence without any problems because she knew what it was like being a younger sibling, living in a shadow. She knew how frustrating it could be. Nick wouldn't get it, he didn't live in anyone's shadow.

And then there was Ashe. Sleeping with his former best friend because of one screwed up night, well that wouldn't freak him out so much if he could ignore the other feelings that were there. He never saw her that way before, maybe because by the time he left he'd been about twelve and girls still had cooties, but still. Now that he was thinking of her that way, he couldn't turn it off. And he wasn't about to go through the whole 'heartbreak warfare' thing again. Not after what happened with Willow.

To say the least, school hadn't been his main focus lately. He did enough to keep his grades up so he could play sports, but that was the extent of it. Besides, who needed to know this ancient crap anyway?

Once Ms. LaBeau dismissed class, Nathan scooped up his books and was just about out of the door when she said his name and asked for him to stay. He tried not to sigh too loudly, though he wasn't really in the mood to be kept after class to talk about why he wasn't doing his very best. And he knew that was exactly what she was going to say. So what was a guy to do? Nate put on his winning Darwin smile and turned to her, "Sure thing, Teach. My, my, Miss LaBeau, you look ravishing today. Did you do something with your hair? Or maybe it's your makeup. Either way, I saw bravo, ma'am."

"Sure thing, Teach. My, my, Miss LaBeau, you look ravishing today. Did you do something with your hair? Or maybe it's your makeup. Either way, I saw bravo, ma'am."

Ma'am? She raised a brow looking at him. "Why don't you have a seat at your desk." She said, she figured he'd be more comfortable, she also figured she'd rather be the one looking down on him instead of the other way around. She had learned early on not to invite teenage boys to stand over her, it invited a distraction for them... or rather two.

"I'm sure you already know what I want to speak to you about." she said leaning against the desk next to his own, crossing her arms. "Mr. Darwin, I've seen your work and you have potential. This paper you gave me was crap." She probably shouldn't have used that word. This was actually her being nice. "Your grades have been slipping in this class... you seem to know what's going on during it well enough so is there anything I should know about?" She really didn't care about his personal life and hoped he wouldn't come to her with an actual problem. She could deal with him not understanding the material, Shakespeare was difficult. It'd only get worse when they started reading Canterbury Tales... some of that material she didn't even fully comprehend.
