It was dark, very, very dark. The only source of light was the school building rising up against the sky and the million clouds covering the heavens like a bright, sparkly veil. Lux pursed her lips as she rubbed her cold hands together. Whenever she opened her mouth to breathe, a white cloud appeared from the tip of her lips and then it disappeared into the darkness. It was cold, there was no doubt about it.
Lux pulled her coat tighter around herself and leaned slightly back. The air was fresher than what it had been back home and she found herself enjoying it more and more for each day. Before she came here, Lux had never imagined that she would ever fit in, or even like it. But to her own surprise she had grown to love this place. Both the school and the people inside it. Sure, there had been a few bumps in the road here and there, and even a little heart ache, but she couldn't really complain. After all, she finally got the chance to live the life of a teenager and not some precious little doll.
With snow in her hair and her hands red from the cold, Lux put her headphones on and turned her gaze upwards.
Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard,
Said, no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars, yeah we'll be counting stars
I see this life like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line
And my face is flashing signs
Seek it out and you shall find
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told
I feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing
I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I could lie, coudn't I, could lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive
And as the song continued, she closed her eyes, enjoying the cold wind against her reddening cheeks.
